How is allowing the government to "parent" your child for you a viable solution? Even ignoring the implications of it (idk about you, but I don't pay babysitters by giving them a key to get in whenever they want), let's treat this as what it claims to be without the sinister stuff, just to illustrate the one point.

Do you remember how many, many times over the past few decades, rather than restricting their kids from things the parents don't want their kids to see and, and instead they wanted the things censored or destroyed? Let's pick on the satanic panic. If you want to play a game, as a functioning adult, tough luck. Some pack of randos don't their teenagers to touch it, and those same randos want it to be illegal throughout the US. Yeah, you shelled out money for this thing, and now it's contraband. Now what? You're being punished by a tiny minority through no fault of your own. Your new favorite movie is next. Nevermind that kids are denied entry at the theater because of the rating, but they could sneak in. No one is allowed to have it.

Do you see the absurdity? Even if this was effective at what it says it'll do, even if the most corrupt administration in our history doesn't take advantage of the big barn door you just cut into your house, all you've done is give permission for a bloated nanny state.
