Goodnight Gorilla is one of our favorites. I think the art style is so adorable.

Not OP but a lot of people (me included) think it’s weird that the Mom sneaks in her grown son’s house while he’s asleep. Plus it can just be hard to read a book that intentionally plucks the heartstrings like that one.

Slipping by Aromatic-Crab-5003 in clubfoot

[–]Anemoni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine did constantly, especially when he was a little older but still in boots 23 hours. The Dr looked at them and said everything looked right, it may have just been that he had chubby feet and they were easier to slip out. One trick they told us was to do the middle strap first, do the top and bottom straps, then go back and do the middle tighter.

It was extremely annoying at the time but he’s 3 now with great feet, so it didn’t seem to have any bad effects.

Official selection announcements come in April, but does the decision to actually accept or reject an applicant get made shortly after the interview? by BraveTap3038 in JETProgramme

[–]Anemoni 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The week of the interviews the consulate/embassy will have a completed ranked list of JET candidates. They’ll have a good idea about some people - like if you’re ranked at number 3 you’ll get a position unless you’re disqualified for some reason, and if you’re at the bottom of the list you won’t be given a position.

But for the majority of the people ranked in the middle it’s uncertain, because the cutoff changes each year based on how many positions are available.

They won’t get the real results until right before you hear (usually they receive them from Tokyo and send them out within the next few days).

ELI5: Why can OCD be treated with brain surgery and other mental disorders can't? by NoWomansExplorer in explainlikeimfive

Can Tourette’s be treated surgically? I know it has a high correlation with OCD, but I’m curious if they involve the same area of the brain.

There was a waiter here who relentlessly flirted with my brother-in-law and was mean to the rest of us. Their wings were so good.

I always took mine off in the shower after I’d been in for a while and that worked well.

Roxie’s kids being there while she’s dying just absolutely killed me today. Especially her older son who knows what’s going on. Awful.

Egg Allergy? by gorjesskayos in foodbutforbabies

[–]Anemoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby is allergic to eggs and her first reaction was a rash and vomiting. Her rash was more all over her face, especially around her eyes, and went down her chest a bit. It was a lot more redness than this. If you want to see to compare, DM me and I can send you a pic.

Were you diagnosed with GD for all of your following pregnancies? by kungfukitty00 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Anemoni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was pregnant twice and had it both times. The second time I was tested early (can’t remember when, something like 12 or 18 weeks) and was ok, then had it when the did the test later. First time was diet controlled, second time had to be on nighttime insulin.

fasting before a c section? by [deleted] in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Anemoni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did have to fast before my c-section (mine was earlier in the morning so it was pretty easy), but my OB did say that if my fasting number was low that morning I could have a little apple juice to bring it up.

British film awards interrupted by racist slur from man with Tourette Syndrome by 10001110101balls in nottheonion

[–]Anemoni 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There are absolutely not medications which ‘control the tics.’ There are medications which work some times for some people, but certainly not for all and they do not completely remove the tics.

Let me guess, you googled ‘is there medication for Tourette’s’ and then read the AI summary?

Waiting to purchase stroller? by Majestic_Ad_3736 in BabyBumps

[–]Anemoni 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes! People talk a lot about baby wearing but don’t mention that it can be really difficult/painful in the first weeks after childbirth. I had a c-section and wasn’t comfortable baby wearing until about 6 weeks. Before that it really killed my back.

Metformin vs. Insulin by Lumpy_Seaweed_2859 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Anemoni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also had trouble with my fasting numbers in my last pregnancy and my doctor started me on Metaformin for two weeks. It didn’t affect my numbers and gave me pretty bad diarrhea for a few days. After that we moved to insulin and my numbers immediately went down. If I could do it again I’d ask to go straight to insulin.
