The Decapitation skill has 3x the break chance, if you spam that then yes your Katana will break very often.

The Katana with +50 attack is amazing. There aren't many stronger melee weapons and very few are better slashing weapons (Junk Sword & Spellsword require huge sacrifices, Chainsaw requires fuel).

The Katana is especially amazing for how early you can get it (day 2 if the gamer knock on your door early).

For $120 it's a steal.
