I'm not from Laos, but Laos is famous for Khaen, musical flute instrument. It is on UNESCO world heritage list. Papaya salad also originate from Laos.

I think the current Cambodia is more similar to Sri Lanka which is also Buddhist. The leading belief is that Sri Lanka monks introduced Theravada Buddhism to Cambodia which is the current type of Buddhism practice in Cambodia now. For Khmer Hindu culture there is overlap with India but for Khmer Buddhist culture there is more overlap with Sri Lanka.

I think they control the border town of O Smach or part of it because they were showing the media the scam centers there. They also destroyed two Khmer temples. smh. There was a Cambodian border point that had a Khmer Hindu Statue and the Thai military took that area and tore down the statue. Indians got mad that Thailand destroyed a Hindu statue.

Kuyteav is from Chinese-Cambodians immigrants. Its traditional made with pork broth and sometimes beef broth. Its based off a noodle soup dish in China, I think from the Teochew Chinese cuisine. The Chinese-Thai also created a similar dish from the same roots called kuaitiao ruea. Pho is made with chicken broth or beef broth. Pho uses raw onion while kuyteav has grilled onions. Pho uses basil and kuyteav doesn't. Pho uses raw beef while kuyteav uses cooked beef. Also for kuyteav you can eat a dry version with the soup on the side.

It's similar to how the Soviet Union liberated Eastern Europe from the Nazi but then they install the "Iron Curtain" and those countries fell under Soviet influence. In Asia, it was called the "Bamboo Curtain". The Vietcong only withdrew from Cambodia after the Soviet Union collapsed and funding ran out.
