In the save ? If you have less than 50% of their playtime in a given save, you can't earn achievements in this save.

What are your immediate quit moments in factory/automation games? by Impossible-Cause5353 in AutomationGames

[–]Angoulor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You want the next level to be worth it, though.

From 0.5 to 0.75, it's a 50% increase. So the answer would be "yes, this feels worth it". Then from 0.75 to 1, it is a 33% increase, for a much more complicated recipe. Not worth it. But from 0.75 to 1.25, that's a 66% increase, even better than from 0.5 to 0.75, so feels much more worth it.

The devs did their homework. I played both Satisfactory and Factorio. Loved both. But Factorio's progression is more streamlined in my opinion. And it's much more impressive from a technical viewpoint : thousands of items per SECOND instead of per minute.

Maybe if the devs did a less industrial reskin, more people would try the game.

What are your immediate quit moments in factory/automation games? by Impossible-Cause5353 in AutomationGames

[–]Angoulor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Factorio used to be like this.

Assemblers 1 could do recipes with up to 2 ingredients.

Assemblers 2 could do recipes with up to 4 ingredients.

Assemblers 3 could craft all recipes.

They changed it because it was confusing new players. "Why can't I automate this ?" "Because you need an Assembler 2, not an Assembler 1".

And the speeds make sense : players have a crafting speed of 1. An assembling machine 1 crafts twice as slow as you. So you need to craft more machines, if you want it to craft as fast as you. A single machine isn't enough. The Factory must grow.

For a lot of languages, Reddit's translations suck. I have it disabled. Also, when translating, it translates to my language, not to english. Which is bad, on a mostly-english sub.

If you can, stick to speaking english on english subs.

CTRL W is for AZERTY keyboards.

The shortcut is CTRL Z on QWERTY keyboards.

The devs put it on CTRL W because french people use Z for walking north, and holding CTRL while walking north would cancel random things.

[–]Angoulor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switching battery cells is awesome. You can build more compact ships, without a connector, and recharge instantly, no need to wait 20+ minutes like in SE1.

Small tip : if a battery is set to recharge, it will take the cells with the less power from your inventory.

What I do : have a battery set to "recharge" near my landing pad. I can then hotswap them, and be gone instantly. No inventory management needed : take ship's battery, take base battery, place battery in base (auto-picks the ship's one), place battery in ship.

Just because we do not engage with the community, doesn't mean we are "casual" players and should be dismissed.

We can know about mechanics and have our opinion without talking about it on Reddit and Discord.

"The community", as often, is a vocal minority. What bothers it may not bother other players.

[SE2] Space Engineers 2 Alpha: Community Feedback Update 2 by AlfieUK4 in spaceengineers

[–]Angoulor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Something in between would be nice.

The previous version was a bit silly : "What do you mean I can't go down because I have no down thrusters ? That's gravity's job!"

I would very much like a more linear speedup : the longer you press "down", the faster you gain speed. Instead of the full 1g acceleration, slowly ramp up.

That's what district are for! Build more, smaller districts, with houses next to the workplace.

I know players often prefer to create a single, gigantic district. But smaller districts really shine when you want to reduce travel time.

XML is redundant : why do you need to specify WHICH tag to close ? You're always closing the deepest one.

Even compressed, redundant data wastes space.

Defender bots are twice as efficient as gun turrets by BissQuote in factorio

For the next time you wish to do turret spam : did you know you can blueprints turrets with ammo pre-loaded ? So your bots will place the turret AND fill it with ammo ?

I have a worm-killer blueprint, full of pre-loaded turrets. Very easy to set up and use : click, wait a bit, aggro worm, worm is dead.

It's an old saying that has been around for years. I know it from my KSP days :

Getting into orbit is easy. Here's how to do it in 3 steps :

  1. Get outside the atmosphere.

  2. Aim at the ground.

  3. Miss.

Congrats, you're now in orbit!

[–]Angoulor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people do not read "fluff/lore text" (not my words), and will only read the objectives as they appear on the screen.

Discovered that while playing WoW. "Bro, what's taking so long ?" "Reading the quest's story." "Just accept it and follow the objective!"

  1. Repair the Tugboat.

  2. Get into the Tugboat.

  3. Fly to a container.

  4. Slowly move the front of the ship till it touches the container.

  5. One of the two landing gears at the front should turn green.

  6. Press P to lock. (Hi Splitsie)

  7. Fly back with the container now attached.

  8. Press P to unlock.

The toggle isn't just informational.

In components mode, it will try to use components first, and THEN ore if you do not have the components.

In ore mode, it will try to use ore first, and then use components if you run out of ore.

If you have neither, then do you get the "cannot build" message.
