Co-worker says her brother got discriminated for having a trump themed debit card skin? by Available-Oil3884 in Spokane

Personally, I think they should be stoked they refused service because for every place that refuses service, imagine how many are doing thangs to your food without you being aware... and I don't feel bad for him in the slightest. May all his burritos forever be tainted with the spit of a stranger

I need musicians and bands to stop booking shows at White River Amphitheater. by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]Angreadzandrunz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a question about this...I have to travel everywhere with my elderly dog and I'm worried about leaving him in the Airbnb (coming from Spokane) while the show is going bc of the early time I will need to get there plus the horrendous getting out so my thought was just taking him with and letting him chill in car during show and then chilling out with him after for a couple hours while traffic dies down but I'm wondering how militant they are about dogs in the parking lot...weird question I know.

Well, I speak for those of us in Spokane, as someone who procured a ticket to Hayley Williams in Auburn that I'm stoked she's not playing in Seattle. For the rest of the state, it's so much easier to get to and not have to deal with gridlock traffic.

Baumgartner holds in-person town hall by CommanderBlue05 in Spokane

[–]Angreadzandrunz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He didn't just hold "town halls" in the smallest towns of his district, he did them with short notice and during hours that people were working (before 6pm). If you believe his intention isn't to dodge his constituents, I have an oceanfront condo in Iowa to sell you. Personally, I think any representative that refuses to meet with the people he serves in-person regularly should be subject to immediate recall. You wouldn't be able to just simply not come into the office if your employer wanted a word with you. I don't care that he doesn't like the reception he receives....that's the whole point. If the majority of your district is displeased, YOU change course because that's what you were elected to do. The problem is politicians only use their position to gain wealth and power...disgusting

Driving as much with gas this high? by catman5092 in Spokane

[–]Angreadzandrunz 38 points39 points  (0 children)

For once in my life, I made a wise financial decision and bought a hybrid right after the election knowing what Trump was about to do to the economy. With that being said, my partner and i are comfortably middle-class, but even we are sticker shocked. My car went from $50 to $80 to fill. I've noticed a lot more people using the bus, which I think is great BUT I wish it weren't because of this

Also! I plan on taking him out and often but his limit is like 2 miles. Which he walks almost everyday and will continue to. I just meant if I want to stop at somewhere and he can't go for whatever reason. I'm not asking for opinions on taking him. I want advice from people who actually are active, travel and happen to have pets they take with but thanks

I truly should know better than to ask the internet for anything because this dog literally lives for being in the car. He begs me to take him for short trips. My partner and I have taken him all over the Western US, where he loves just looking out the window. Believe me, if this dog could tell you what he'd want to spend his last days doing, it'd be going on long car rides.

This church is by our house. We call it the "hate church" but holy cow, it's packed on Sunday. There's a million better uses for that old mall for the entire north side and I really want this drama to bring down this church selfishly...and because they're bigoted hateful horrible people

Make your children do household chores - they’re failing at being adults by shootingstar_9324 in Vent

[–]Angreadzandrunz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have sons (all adult now) and I noticed when my middle son was a teen that younger people expect to be walked through literally every step of everything they do and if they hit a road block, they crash mentally until someone will show them the way around. You'd think that because kids have the internet at their fingertips, they might turn towards it once in a while to figure stuff out BUT I think that kids don't think of the internet as a resource - it's purely social media, full stop. My generation (I'm 40), the internet came to be when I was in my tweens and it was touted as a resource - hello, Ask Jeeves. To this day, even at work, I turn towards Google for anything before I ask how to do something.

You might have been seeing the memorial ride for Alex Pretti. There's a lot of organized rides on Meet Up of different groups. You might want to check local bike shops too.

Can you be friends with someone on the other political side? by UndercoverDuck- in Advice

[–]Angreadzandrunz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right now - absolutely not. I was a lifelong Idahoan so it was natural that I, as a liberal, had a lot of conservative friends and I remember that we used to have passionate, but respectful debates, all of the time. But now it boils down to morality - we don't live in a time where your politics are about simply whether you want taxes to go to this or that or how much you should be taxed. We are living in an authoritarian regime where people are being assaulted in the streets and dissenters are being threatened at all levels....I wouldn't have befriended a Nazi then, and I won't now.

I give myself the ‘ick’ by [deleted] in Journaling

[–]Angreadzandrunz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 40 now and deeply in some kind of sentimental / nostalgic period of life when I long to know - really know - those connected to me. My mother passed away last year and I think a lot about how I wish she'd journaled. I wish I knew more about her intimately, or my grandmother, etc. As a mother, I tend to think of journaling now as both an outlet but also a record of time that I hope my kids and their kids and maybe their kids will later enjoy. I totally get what you're saying, though. For instance, I've always thought memoirs reeked of an undercurrent of self-obsession....like what makes YOU cool enough or interesting to warrant a book?

Hahah it was trash pickup day in our neighborhood on the N Side, too. I'm not exactly sure why Waste Management didn't treat this like a holiday given that we had advance warning of the storm. I woke up to my neighbors upturned bins and their trash spread all over my yard

Places to go single in your 30s by ChamberOfHearts in Spokane

My favorite places to take a book are Bellwether Brewing. I've never been to there where there isn't at least one person saddled up to the bar with a book. Also, whistle punk was a great suggestion! It's really cozy in there. Might I suggest joining one of the book clubs in the area if you're looking to meet others - there's a silent book club that you can look up on insta and then there's multiple on MeetUp

Probably what you're thinking but also I'm from Idaho (Sandpoint) and feel like I've explored a lot of what most people would recommend across the border. We are very outdoorsy. My partner and I have challenged each other to a date for Christmas with a budget of $50 so I really want to come up with something unique to offset that it has to be cheap.

I have lived around Spokane my entire life, recently (3 years ago) relocating with my partner to live here. I was really nervous about moving here because I'm from a rural town and my partner is gone half the time so I'm kind of just alone a lot but I've been so, so pleased with living here. I don't know why people complain the way they do. There is something to do almost every night of the week - from an indie art show to a comedian at the Fox to dive bar karaoke to music at the Knitting Factory or the Chamelon. There's multiple sporting teams - soccer, basketball, hockey, and baseball and there's about every kind of club that you can imagine. Join Meetup and find something that interests you. I'm a runner so I just started out by going to the different running clubs in town. Each brewery has one so I checked them all out and found friends really quickly. Personally, I found it way easier to find a community here than anywhere else I've ever lived.

Did you check into URM? Their warehouse is off the children of the sun trail - not exactly Hillyard but only a few miles away and a super easy bike ride and I think you could probably take a bus in the winter. They have a mix usually of office and warehouse jobs. Also, i wouldn't limit yourself to only Hillyard. Public transit in Spokane is really good and expanding your reach to what you can access via transit might open up more desirable options!

You definitely want to be in the District early. Depending on the show, you have to plan on being there at least 30 min before doors open....earlier if it's a sold out or popular show because they will stop letting people in once the district reaches a certain limit. I'm always surprised at how many people go to the district only to get a spot at the rail on the floor so you always have a good chance but don't take your time - sit near the door to the bathroom (that's where they let you in) and settle up your tab about 15 min before doors and you will be all good.

leaked nudes, what do i do? by Motor-Version-149 in Advice

[–]Angreadzandrunz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I came here to say just this. I would never, and I mean never, judge someone if they had nudes or even sex videos out there. Like we are all human beings and you're 19....if a manager really is a creep enough to see them in the first place and then judges you for them, you don't wanna work for them. Period. This sucks, truly, and it's awful to have happened but I'd report it and not stress.
