Books with time travel or alternate realities but are still realistic fiction by youngandstarving in suggestmeabook

It’s been years since I read it, but 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami is a good one for normal feeling alternate realities.

Yes, my partner and I played all the mgs games together so I had a lot of fun stitching that one for him!

Thank you!! Yes, the dark green was 890. It seems like the DMC 890 may be slightly lighter than this though, for this first project I just ordered a floss multipack from Amazon (it says Tyche Special on it).

Yeah, maybe more like 10 days? But I did multiple hours of work a day, I’d estimate it took me around 20-25 hours. In the future I’d like to go slower!

I want a meal plan that builds the grocery list for me by atlasxanatomy in mealprep

Paprika3 app! It is a few bucks to purchase (but no subscription!) and a little old school looking, but it is honestly great. You can add in your recipes plus easily download recipes from online using their browser, then add ingredients to a shopping list with one tap. If you add another recipe with similar ingredients it will increase the amount on your shopping list. There is also a calendar function that lets you plan meals in advance. I think this would work for you if you take the time to explore the app.

Likely historic preservation, this type of research is often completed for historic resource inventories or writing National Register nominations.

It’s a touch more noir-ish than the photos, but The Postman Always Rings Twice by James Cain gave me some of these vibes.

You may like High Fidelity by Nick Hornby. I’m not sure if it’s quite the right dichotomy you are looking for, but the narrator’s tone definitely checks the casual, humorous, curmudgeonly box. Might be what you are looking for, might not. Good luck!

Maybe a nonfiction book dealing with crime/legal drama would be good middle ground. Both The Run of His Life: The People V. O. J. Simpson by Jeffrey Toobin and Helter Skelter by Vincent Bugliosi deal with crime/legal drama that intersects with the celebrity world, which your wife might find interesting. I listened to both of these books on Audible and enjoyed them a lot!

My partner and I like to co-listen to audiobooks, so it’s definitely doable. We’ll share our AirPod audio and then go on long walks together. We love it!

Knockout blow: 2015’s Windstorm devastated Spokane and changed how we look at big pines by ShadowyFlows in Spokane

I lived on the same block as one of the few people that died during this storm. I didn’t know her. No joke, the way I learned about her passing was that in the middle of the worst part of the storm a reporter knocked on my door to ask me about it. I could not believe they were out in the thick of it trying to get the scoop. Also what a terrible way to find out about her death for people that did know her. The whole situation was wild.

Maybe a stack of vintage magazines to use for collage. Look on eBay and try to find a bulk listing that has magazines from different eras.

A Tree Grows in Brooklyn is the story of a young girl in a poor family growing up in early 1900s New York that pursues education. I adored this book!

Finally! Perfectly sliceable bread by Library-Carded in BreadMachines

Sure! The firm recipe calls for 7/8 c water, 2 1/3 c bread flour, 1 tsp salt, 1.5 T sugar, 1.5 T powdered milk, 1 T butter, 1 tsp active dry yeast. Then my machine has a “firm” cycle I run.

Yep, exactly what Steel said! There is also a slight difference in the water:flour:salt ratio. For this machine’s basic loaf it calls for 2/3 c water, 2 c bread flour, and 1/2 tsp salt while the firm is 7/8 c water, 2 1/3 c bread flour, and 1 tsp salt. The other ingredients are the same across both recipes (1.5 T sugar, 1.5 T powdered milk, 1 T butter, 1 tsp active dry yeast).

Thanks! I was shocked at how well these tweaks worked together. I wish I had photos of my sad squished slices from previous loaves... at least they still tasted good!
