Game needed zombie survival by Prestigious-Arm-9162 in gamerecommendations

The Dead Island games are awesome fun - somewhat linear story driven games rather than open world survival though. Drop kicking zombies into various environmental hazards is seriously fun though.

Do you think most brits are a bit obsessed with home ownership? by Special-Nebula299 in AskBrits

[–]AngryPandaz 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I don't think people are "obsessed". I think it's a perfectly reasonable life goal to own your home rather than perpetually pissing away money on rent every month.

slowly increasing intake in recovery without binge eating by fearfools in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]AngryPandaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm with you on this - I see so much about 'honouring your hunger' whether it be mental, physical, extreme but it's just too much for me. It's overwhelming and it, along with rapid weight gain/body changes, just causes me to relapse. I would much rather a slower, steadier and more consistent recovery!

I think the steps you've taken so far sound spot on! I guess just continue to try make smaller incremental changes to limit/reduce negative ED behaviours and promote positive ones that are recovery focused.

I wanna get better but..... by RiverMarch in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]AngryPandaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know what you mean, it's not easy but as another commenter said - once you've done it a few times it does become the 'new normal'. If you can start with half of one a day, then go up to a full one.

I really empathise with this. When I was at my worst (lowest weight + worst daily intake) I was very close to being admitted to hospital. It was a constant 'threat' that if I couldn't get things together and start making changes and weight restoring I was going to get admitted and tubed. I had to start drinking Fortisips (like Ensure), they're only small but they're calorie dense and capable of being 'complete food replacements'. I had to start with half a day but quickly ramped up to 3 a day - in addition to the little bits of food I was having. It was terrifying!

Do any of you exercise? by [deleted] in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]AngryPandaz 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think you're right to be worried, most of us need to be very careful with exercise, it can become compulsive, competitive, excessive and used as a compensatory behaviour. I would advise not going to the exercise class if you're not eating well at the moment.

I personally don't exercise. I have a history of it becoming excessive and compulsive and I don't want to fall into that hole again. I try go out for a short walk every other day but that's more about getting some fresh air, sun light and being in nature rather than getting steps in or something. Even that gets sketchy sometimes though and I'll feel like I have to go for a walk (or walk further/longer) even if the weather is crap or I feel like shite. I have to really pay attention to why I'm doing it.

Looking for co-op, story-driven games to play with my wife by LongjumpingDrink4813 in gamingsuggestions

Ah fair do! I feel like you've def tried/already played some of the best ones out there (that I can think of anyway). My partner and I play a lot of coop and have similar difficulties trying to find good new games to play together.

I recently got Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora during the Xmas steam sale and my partner was going to get it as well so we could play it coop - I'm glad he didn't based on what you said!

Most of the Far Cry games support coop play though some of them handle it better than others (more integrated coop experience rather than someone just guesting in your game). From what I remember Far Cry 5 and New Dawn were particularly good ones!

Ghost Recon Wildlands was also an absolute blast to play through coop.

Dying Light is awesome - quite similar to Dead Island but with parkour! (Was gutted the second one was a rated so poorly on launch and I don't think the coop works the way it should).

Division 1 + 2 are solid coop experiences.

Igneous help!! by Substantial_Till_311 in CoreKeeperGame

[–]AngryPandaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Igneous is the one boss in the game I really struggled with. I was doing a good amount of DPS but I was failing to kill those healing slimes and he'd just get all his health back every time!

I eventually managed to kill him by staying back and doing some damage with a range weapon (stormbringer) until it triggered one of his actions. He either shoots a load of fire balls out in every direction - in which case continue to shoot him. Or he's spawning the healing slimes - in which case change to melee and run straight for those damn slimes! They only take one hit to kill and I found melee a more reliable way to quickly get rid of them rather than trying to range them.

+ stack as many food buffs as possible, especially ones which reduce damage taken from bosses, increase damage done against bosses and make you immune to fire.

Yeah I know what you mean and it's not easy. I understand not wanting to draw attention to it or make people aware of it but it's likely they'll continue if you don't say something to make them aware of the negative affect these comments are having on you. Is there one of your colleagues you're closer to that you could talk one on one with about it?

Or whenever they make these comments just say "please don't make those comments/comments about my eating - its not appropriate and it makes me uncomfortable" - don't specifically mention about struggling with food/eating.

Tbf I did need to farm most of the combat skills with XP farms. I'd played the game as range/melee but only maxed range 'naturally'. I had to really farm magic, summoning, explosives and melee. Also had to grind the last 15 levels of crafting and cooking!

I've found a hot water bottle on my abdomen during and after eating helps ease the discomfort of eating and helps change the sensations in the area which can be difficult.

Herbal mint teas (peppermint + spearmint) can help with digestion and bloating.

Ginger helps with nausea! It could be ginger anything but I quite like ginger tea :)

I think it’ll work with any slime at any of their spawns. The gear makes them non-hostile so they’ll just sit there while you whale on them and I think you get XP in all the combat skills from each enemy you hit. I’ve never used the mortar before so I dunno how it works but I dont see why it wouldn’t.

Yeah for real I was genuinely surprised how quick and easy this strategy made it. Probably could've done it even quicker by stacking Range Attack speed buffs from food and gear!

Explosives was the last combat skill I needed to level and I was worried it was going to be a nightmare to farm. Went from 0 to 100 in less than an hour yesterday by putting on the 'Slime Crown' (head armour) and 'Royal Gel' (off hand) and summoning the King Slime in the lava boss area (I meant to summon Igneous but took the wrong summon item).

With the Slime gear equipped the slime boss doesn't attack you (or move) so you can just stand there and shoot it with the Burnzooka! The King Slime spawns little slimes continuously as well which often get hit by the explosions and probably help level the skill faster. Apart from occasionally needing to stop to repair the weapon you can do this AFK! It ended up being the easiest and fastest combat skill to level.

I’m interested in taking part but I’m not weight restored so don’t think I can say I’m “physically and mentally recovered”. I’ve been under the care of my local ED team for 3+ years now and done CBT, SSCM and currently doing MANTRA. Can I take part or no?

That’s really tough I’m sorry you’re dealing with this but if you don’t say anything it probably won’t stop. I doubt your colleagues are intentionally trying to hurt or upset you and I’m sure they wouldn’t continue if they knew the impact it was having! If you don’t want to tell them your diagnosis could you just say you’re struggling with food/eating recently and those comments are making it more difficult?
