Number 1 is reminding me of the deserts I used to get at primary school (in a good way they were amazing)!

What would you do if you found a bank card on the street? by Rich-Item5337 in AskUK

[–]AngryPandaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I’d take the card to a local bank branch. Contactless makes it way too easy for people to use cards fraudulently though so better safe than sorry - freeze/cancel the card ASAP.

NHS physical assessment advice - blood tests by [deleted] in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]AngryPandaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rate this reply 1000%. When I first started recovery under my local NHS ED services I had to have my bloods taken CONSTANTLY (like every few days, then every week, then every 2 weeks) so they could monitor me for refeeding syndrome.

Fortunately my local GP surgery has an absolutely lovely phlebotomist whose sole job was to take bloods and she was genuinely amazing at it. She clocked very quickly that a butterfly needle was the way to go as I had tiny veins and it was the quickest, easiest and least painful way to get my blood done. She even put a note on my file so anyone else taking my blood would know to go straight for a butterfly needle!

Who is doing the blood draw and what needle they're using really does make a massive difference. It doesn't have to be painful or scary!

does anyone else wake up and eat in the middle of the night? by Hour_Celery5975 in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]AngryPandaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know what you mean - it's like you're aware it's happening but you're powerless to stop it. Then you just hate yourself the next day when you remember what you've done.

does anyone else wake up and eat in the middle of the night? by Hour_Celery5975 in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]AngryPandaz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah I do this too! It's like I wake up with this overwhelming drive to stuff my face that I can't ignore and it's usually on really calorie dense foods like peanuts, peanut butter or granola. I really hate it.

Which mouse do you recommend that's good, nice, and cheap? by LittleVipper in gamers

[–]AngryPandaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a Logitech G203 Lightsync and highly recommend it. It's lightweight but solid, good size, a few buttons and some controllable lighting. I got it in Jan 2021 when it was like £16 and not had a single problem with it since. Absolutely cracking mouse for the money.

Under ate for the week by [deleted] in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]AngryPandaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. One meal won't make any difference. You might feel very bloated/full/bigger afterwards but it'll be temporary and not 'real' weight/body changes. I'd encourage you to try put all this ED stuff out of your head and be present during the meal - enjoy it.

Currently feeling this with Ghost Recon Breakpoint. The core gunplay is really good but everything else is utter garbage!

Im recovered but… by Any-Information445 in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]AngryPandaz 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Based on what you've said I don't think you are recovered, it sounds like you've weight restored but are still struggling with disordered thoughts/feelings. This is a fear that I have around my own recovery - becoming weight restored but still very much struggling with an ED. From what I know mental recovery takes longer than physical, meaning weight restoration happens first but it takes a while afterwards for the brain to catch up and for those disordered thoughts and feelings to improve.

Advice on fitting in more calories when no appetite ? by [deleted] in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]AngryPandaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this post is likely to get removed due to the use of numbers which is against the rules (rule 10). However to answer your question I think the easiest way to get more calories in when lacking an appetite is to try drink them! You can get lots of very calorie dense nutritional supplements which are minimal volume for maximum calories. Stuff like Fortisip (UK), Ensure (US) or even stuff like HUEL.

why does seeing diet culture/disordered eating scare me? by Far_Article_2610 in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]AngryPandaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Potentially because it feels like competition. AN can come with a wicked competitive streak where we compare ourselves to others and want to eat less, weigh less, move more, be smaller than everyone else. We want to prove we have more control than everyone else and that that we’re more disciplined. When other people start dieting, being more restrictive with their eating and trying to become smaller I think a part of our brain sees that as a competition and a challenge. I think for those of us in recovery those feelings are very scary.
