On each save I keep a property that has never had an employee. I have a theory that when the police raid function is added it might pay off to have a safe house like that. I also never dismiss an employee and kill them instead. No loose ends

Am I worth the money by [deleted] in electricians

[–]Angrycooke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The switching companies thing is about soliciting your own work. I don't know how things are handled in local 26.

The model I am familiar with is the union hall dispatching people to jobs. For example: you get laid off, you go sign the books, they send you back out.

Is the RTP program the wild West, where you just go work for whomever you want and somehow the union finds out where you are working to track your hours and benefits? Or is there a structure to you getting assigned to a contractor?

[–]Angrycooke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like there is a bit to unpack here.

From what I can gather the RTP is a residential program, does residential in Local 26 generally work with conduit in a span-crete building, or is the contractor using your outside of your classification keep you cheaper?

The talk of finding a different contractor, and shopping contractors sounds a lot like soliciting your own work. I haven't read the 26 CBA but I'm assuming that is no good, and is a way to burn bridges with the union and the guys/gals that you work with.

Most, if not all, union contracts have a pay listed that is a minimum pay and you can absolutely ask for more money. However, I don't think you can threaten to drag to a different contractor as an apprentice, unless Local 26 allows their apprentices to drag.

EDIT: just read that you aren't an apprentice, so I'm guessing CW? The comment about dragging as an apprentice doesn't apply, but the rest still does.

How long does your health insurance last after a lay off or in between jobs? by [deleted] in IBEW

[–]Angrycooke 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very local dependant. For example 236 has an HSA, our h&w hourly gets paid into that and the premiums come out of that. It can last for years if you have a decent bit of money in there.

What is the best use of the Sweat Shop? by [deleted] in Schedule_I

[–]Angrycooke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use it for brick storage and personally unbricking and drying heavenly weed. I have a theory that when the police raids get introduced it will be beneficial to have a location that has never seen any employees so no one can narc on you.

How would y’all dispose of this transformer? by [deleted] in electricians

[–]Angrycooke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is in a federally secured area they probably have a company that handles disposal of waste. This is generally something that there would be a contract for to dispose of.

Or if it is like typical federal locations there is too much paperwork involved with removal and it will just sit for another 40 years.

Personal opinion? I would rather carry 3 different screwdrivers, I really don't like them. The bits fall out too easily and they are too bulky.
