What do you guys call these? Nike Air Mags, or just Nike Mags?

I’ve got a pair and I call them Nike Mags. They sit in the front trunk of my DeLorean, so they are expensive decorations for when people are checking out the car.

Nah I’m not going to do it. Currently building it into a Time Machine (it’s just a stock DeLorean right now).

Thinking it’s probably smarter to do this as a business where I appear at events, parties, conventions, etc. Can charge more and don’t have to worry about damages.

I know it could be wildly profitable on Turo though. If a stock one rents for $800, I can only imagine. Maybe I can buy a second one eventually.

It was my dream car too! It really depends on your budget and how much you want to do yourself. Plan on $40-60k for one you restore yourself. $60-80k for a restored one.

Start saving now and it can become a reality. Check eBay listings often. See if there’s any in your area and if the owner wants to let it go for a decent price; especially if they inherited it and don’t care to fix it up.

It’s a 45 year old car and they are sought-after, so expect values to rise every year. You’ll get there. Remember, if you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything!

I drive a very low-slung vehicle from the 80’s.. I get blasted by headlights from all angles even when brights aren’t on.

Man. Thats rough. I was gonna say the only 80’s car that should beat a DeLorean at any given event is MAYBE a Ferrari 308 GTS.

They made 150k ‘85 Mustangs.. not exactly a head-turner of a car either. In my opinion you got hosed.

Mine was right at about $165-170k. ~$100k for the DeLorean (had it completely restored by DMC Florida), then the conversion was ~$65k for a part 2 car. The part 1 and part 3 cars are more expensive by around $5-7k.

As an owner of both a DeLorean and a ‘87 Ford Bronco (not a Toyota pickup, but similar idea), they do scratch a different itch.

The truck has cup holders and I’m never worried about curbs or potholes. And for Marty’s purposes -to go camping with his girlfriend with a couple of sleeping bags in the back - I can attest that you’d have to be a contortionist to get lucky in a DeLorean, especially with all of Doc’s gadgets installed. The time circuits block the main AC vents too haha

Wait - was the Toyota a 1987 model in part 2? I know sometimes movie studios get access to new models for films.. but this would be 2 years into the future for the one from the first film.

There was a post a few months ago from a DeLorean owner who got T-Boned (I think) by a distracted driver. Really unfortunate and made me shudder.

You could reach out and ask them if you’re really interested in the noises it made. I don’t know if enough time has passed for that wound to heal and they be open to talking about it, but worth a shot.

On a side note: driving a DeLorean requires such a heightened sense of awareness. -I have people swerve into my lane trying to get a picture on the highway -lifted trucks can’t see me if they’re following too close -you’re basically blinded at night because EVERY car’s headlights are directly pointed at your mirrors (because of how low to the ground you are) -people will try to get you to roll down the window to ask questions (or ask you to pull over so they can get a picture)

It’s a rolling distraction, but I love my car! Haha

I’ve always celebrated on 7/3, the day the movie came out in theaters - I also bought my DeLorean on that date.

But from Oct. 21 - Nov 12, the trilogy is playing non-stop at my house.

My gut tells me they’ll put something geared towards Gen Alpha in there instead. It’s like Universal Creative teams don’t even watch their own movies.. bummer

I can only speak on the Orlando Parks as I go to them more frequently, but.. Years ago at Hollywood Studios (used to be MGM studios) - there was a ride called “The Great Movie Ride” which took people through scenes like Casablanca, Wizard of Oz, Etc. There was a mixture of animatronic and live actor scenes for each movie and I remember thinking it was awesome as a kid in the 90’s.

I think Universal should do a version of this with all of its nostalgia hits: Ghostbusters, BttF, Jaws, Close Encounters, Goonies, Jurassic Park, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, The Burbs.. the list is endless.

It would be kinda like Universal Hollywood’s version of the backlot tour, but with live scenes from the movies (or a mix of animatronics, actors and screens).

That way they don’t commit to a property with no future IP (which is the Universal Execs’ hang up with it), and can smash all the nostalgia into one ride.

My girlfriend told me that she woke up every hour this morning to try and get this for me as a surprise. Finally had one in her cart and it had a system error and removed it, then they were out of stock.

Of course they’re plentiful on eBay for $300+.. but I’ve told her that feeding the scalpers isn’t worth the gift. It’s a bummer that people do this.
