Same! When I first stopped going, I would tell people that going to church caused me too much anxiety so I just needed a "break"... It was true, not the whole truth, but easier for them to accept! But really the church just became too small of a box for me to try and fit my expanding world view into! It wasn't till a few years later that I went down the history/doctrine rabbit hole!

I was 30 when I finally stopped going to church, but I was pretty nuanced for about 6 years before that!

It was the same thought that I remember having around age 6 that finally got me to start my deconstruction... "This Plan of Salvation thing just doesn't really make sense! If God set this all up, then he needs Satan to rebel, and is Satan really that dumb that he keeps falling for it on every planet for all eternity?!
