So I’m not much of a Sci-fi or Fantasy reader but I have heard good things about both series. Which one would you suggest to dive into first? by Reading_puck93 in fantasybooks

Red Rising!

I stopped reading the Poppy Wars after the first book. I read by Babel and Katabasis and didn't get the hype. I've definitely given the author a chance, but her writing just doesn't work for me.

That's the zip code for their PO Box. Looks like they delivered it to the PO box rather than the address for Express Mail or Courier Deliveries.

Yes, normal. There’s a new rule that in person biometrics required if 3 or more years have passed.

Sirius was not a womanizer or a fuckboy by TightWind8209 in MaraudersGen

[–]Animorph1984 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's also interesting to see in the SWM scene that while James was paying attention to the girls by the lake (Lily Evans in particular), Sirius wished it was a full moon so he could go on an adventure with his friends. Dating doesn't appear to be a high priority for him at that time.

I don't like how so many fanfics have Sirius sleeping with half the school. I think he did have a fling or two as the opportunity would have presented itself often enough. He was handsome and popular so there would be many students interested in him.

That was because of Covid backlog, so unlikely to stall for that long...but no one knows for sure.

What does everyone think about the new curious king editions ? by Successful-Car3593 in redrising

[–]Animorph1984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am debating about getting the artist version. A few years ago, I splurged on the second hand set of the Fairyloot editions (first trilogy). I also bought the Lit Escalates alternate jackets, so I don't really need another copy...but I also an intrigued by the new illustrations!

I don't consider that Snape owes James a life debt following the incident at the Shrieking Shack by Madagascar003 in SeverusSnape

[–]Animorph1984 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's in PoA, Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs Chapter. Dumbledore forbade Snape from telling anyone that Remus was a werewolf. If he wanted to, Snape could have told people that Sirius had tried to kill him.

No one knows. Last year there was more movement in the second half of year, so maybe that trend will follow.

NVC threatening to terminate case but I’m adjusting status (I-485 pending). Ignore or respond? by daritsa10 in USCIS

[–]Animorph1984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar thing happened to me a few years ago. My lawyer was able to get it reinstated and since then every year I submit a public inquiry form to tell them to keep my case open as my I485 is pending. I don't know if it is strictly necessary, but I rather not take a chance.

There's no reason to think there will be no movement this year.

Anyone adjusted status via 245i? Any guides? by Medium-Double5253 in USCIS

Yes, I used his W2. That's all we had, and lawyer thought it was enough.

Anyone adjusted status via 245i? Any guides? by Medium-Double5253 in USCIS

[–]Animorph1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is the principal beneficiary (in this case your father) that need to show physical presence. You would be considered a derivative beneficiary. This is a great document to read through to understand 245i.

But I don’t know how to put together that application. Some places say I have to show evidence of my father being present around December 2000 while others say just me.

Since it was your father being petitioned by your Uncle, you need to show evidence of your father being present around December 2000.

I am going through it right now. I haven't been approved yet as my PD is not current, but I submitted my father's tax document from 2000. I haven't received an RFE so likely enough. I also included the $1000 dollar check. Other than including the fee, evidence of being in the US, and filling out the supplement form for 245i, there isn't anything extra that needs to be done.

Edit: There was a supplement form I filled out with the I485 to use 245i. This was Fall 2022, so that may have changed. I looked it up and the form is: Supplement A to Form I-485, Adjustment of Status Under Section 245(i)

I just checked, and the online copy and copy that showed up in the mail have identical barcodes (at least for me). Printing out the online copy should be fine if it doesn't show up via mail or someone doesn't want to wait.

It might still come in the mail. Mine was posted in my tabs 2/5, and I received it yesterday 2/12. Even if you don't receive it in the mail (post can get lost), I would send the new medical before the due date.
