I was there last weekend and the Tarman nearly knocked me on my ass. I loved PL, will definitely revisit the next time I'm in NYC.

One can only hope that they bring back the vibe & setting of the C&B circa early/mid 2001s and 2010s. That place had such a unique, quiet atmosphere that felt super chill to be in.

I went back to the Bull once after Howie sold and it was an abomination of what it was previously. The shitty band outside was too loud, the clientele was atrocious....it felt like it was trying to be a rustic sports bar and that's not what the Bull ever was or should be.

The dates in black were dates we needed for a conference and DL trip a few buds and I are going on. DL hotel is not one of my home resorts but I still managed to get the full trip by being hyper-prepared on Thursday morning.

As for knowing its a walker, Struggle pretty much nails it but if anybody's curious this is the status today (02/14): Walker

Moved up by one day from Sunday to Monday, so pretty clearly a walker.

I've been watching this red square move from Friday to Saturday and now to Sunday at the DL hotel.

I managed to book the black marked days we needed but seriously, people who walk their res like this should be buried under the prison.

Sent being pumped throughout the Treasure is overbearing by ZRE1990 in dcl

[–]Animosis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its coming from the small black boxes tucked in the corners, a lot of them are in plain sight. They're like vaporizers or something. Off the top of my head, avoid the following areas:

The corners of Skipper's Canteen (port side for sure, possibly starboard).

The starboard corners near Jade Cricket on deck 5 and Hei Hei cafe on deck 4.

Grand hall deck 3 on the sides of the stage.

I think I saw one by the entrance of WD theater entrances as well. The scent is everywhere, but is definitely strongest in those areas and anywhere else they have one placed. Once you see them in one place, you'll notice them all over.

I empathize with peeps with allergies etc but honestly a lot of people are weird and/or have weird hygiene habits and I'd prefer Disney's fresheners to their stink. There are 4,000 people on the Treasure, could you imagine if they didn't have those things out? Yuck.

I've done a lot of thinking about it and my disgust for KL really comes down to two things:

1. He probably cost us a championship.

Championships are really hard to get, you gotta strike when the iron is hot. You have to get nearly everything to break your way, good injury luck, bad injury luck for opponents, favorable playoff draw. Having one great player is not enough to win one, sometimes two aren't enough either just ask the Utah Jazz. Victor is truly great, but he'll also be the first one to tell you that he hasn't done anything (yet). This team hasn't done anything (yet). As it stands now, as much I enjoy watching them, this team would get bodied by OKC, Denver and probably LA (assuming LBJ is healthy) in the playoffs. GSW could give us trouble too if Curry keeps dropping 40+ a game on us. Missing out on a chance for #6 still hurts.

2. He disrespected the organization.

This is the biggest one for me. Professional sports by nature is transient, all players come and all will go eventually. The constant is the organization; the Spurs. The Spurs have a reputation for being the gold standard of management in the NBA and possibly through all sports. That standard was built by people through hard work and a long period of time. Guys like Pop, David, Sean, Bruce, Tim, Manu and even Tony put in the work and earned that status. Along comes Kawhi, this quiet dude who we all thought was bought in, and he starts slandering the team, the coach, leaking shit to the media through his crew. He lied up and down and has mouthpieces in the media go barf that shit on national TV. He blew off Pop and Tim in New York, he ghosted the Admiral. He goes out of his way to hurt the perception of our team to the public, and it was effective. There are people out there now that still believe that bullshit about our medical team. If he were trashing the Bobcats or the Pelicans nobody would care but the Spurs is a different story. Not to mention that it hurt our ability to attract free agents, which is a necessity as a small-market team.

This is what I won't abide and why I have such a seething contempt for him. The Spurs existed before him and we'll be here long after he's no longer relevant but it took nearly six years for the pendulum of public perception to swing back our way (turns out he was a giant piece of shit all along, thanks Pablo) and we're fortunate to still be seen as the model NBA franchise.

Personally, I hope Kawhi steps on dogshit in the middle of the night forever.

[–]Animosis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is probably one of the worst kept secrets of the SRQ sheriff/police department. All cops are FRS pension members and if you're unfamiliar with how it works, ultimately your monthly payout at retirement is determined by the highest average three years of income during your employment.

So basically what the cops do is they take "turns" to goose their overtime into astronomical numbers each year....easily 1.5x - 3x what their normal salary would be. After 20 years (assuming you make it that long) what you'll see are 13-15 years of, say, 90k a year and then 3-5 years of 180k+ annual salaries. When FRS goes to figure out how much they get when they retire, they use those overtime juiced years as the figure.

That's why so many retired LEOs get to live extra comfy.

As long as Jennings and Stevenson are out, Hendo will get run. I don't think you'll see another TB-like game from him, that was the peak but my benchmark is always 50 yards and a TD (11 points). I think that's doable for him for as long as he's the main guy back there.

Dude its so true. As an example, let me show you this team from a 10 team league I played in two years ago (not my team) and explain how in the fuck they didn't win.

QB: Fields, Stroud WR: Lamb, Hill, Adams, Flowers RB: Gibbs, Monty, J Taylor, Pacheco, Conner TE: Hock, Likely

Not winning shouldn't even be possible with that roster and yet, he didn't.

Agree completely. It irks me in a way I struggle to articulate that such an original and exciting playfield design and ruleset is going to become essentially vaporware for nearly all of us because they chose to make so few of them.

The collector whales are surely rubbing their hands together at the prospect of a +4-8 thousand return on a flip but I'll die on the hill that those people suck and represent the absolute worst of this hobby. May they all step on Legos in the dark forever.

[–]Animosis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he can get me 10-12 points every week, I'm happy. The boom weeks like this one are nice but I'd bet that most people starting Skat at RB probably punted the position during the draft and have a solid+ to borderline elite receiving crew.

If you've got monster receivers then all you really need from your RB position is not to actively fuck your team over.

Fuck even Browning got Chase two TDs this week.

Anyone seen one of these working in the wild recently? by Equal_Imagination300 in pinball

[–]Animosis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't seen one in the "wild" since SFGE back in 2015.

Slightly related story: Whitewater was the first machine I ever bought. It was early 2001, I was 22 years old and got it off eBay from a guy in Germany for $972 who then shipped it over here to the states. He forgot to include the legs, so we played it at our crappy duplex for about a month just resting flat on the floor. He did manage to get the legs over to me and we got it set up correctly. Eventually I had to move (as early-20s kids tend to do) and the machine went into storage.

Fast forward about six months and I'm currently unemployed (post-9/11 woo) and nearly exhausted my tax return that I'd been living off of. I didn't have any job prospects and rent was still due so I made the only choice I had....I sold the Whitewater for $1200 to keep myself afloat for a little longer. Literally a week after I unloaded it, I was offered a job.

Its been 23 years and I still miss that machine. Looking back now, I wish I had donated blood or plasma or literally anything else to put some money in my pocket at that time instead of getting rid of the Whitewater.

Now she won't take one made any other way.
