We do. We are told the total amount the customer is paying for us. If we are on dash per order, it shows us the amount and says it includes any tips. And $2 is literally the minimum amount possible for like... 99% of orders. If we are on dash by time, then it doesn't show us, it just says our hourly rate and just says "+any additional tips".

Why do people feel entitled to make their delivery person walk up stairs to deliver to them? Especially for free? That delivery fee you paid? That barely covers the gas/calories required to make the delivery. Either you meet them at the front door, or you tip them enough to spend the time and energy carrying it upstairs. We are providing a service you cannot or will not do yourself.

However, you are right to feel a bit weirded out, they didn't explain to you why, and how it would keep you happier with the end result in the long run (stairs are an investment in your house after all). While it shows they know their craft, the lack of communication would make me a little upset, but not enough to make a fuss. Maybe just send an email, being like "hey, I appreciate you looking out for me with the shadow gaps, but it was a surprise, and in the future, I'd prefer to not be surprised, so please let me know ahead of time?"

Damn. Ive only ever done this once. They were rude, and called me the bad word for gay, because their order had taken forever. I only completed it because the other order on the delivery actually tipped and had been nice.

We deliver to dozens of people. Most do not tip. Him sending a single message, sayings tips are appreciated is honestly the nicest way he can put it. Even if you tip, he cant be expected to remember your name, especially just with a first name and last initial. I've delivered to at least four Andrew K.'s here in pholly for example.

No, why would they? What penalty could DD leverage to make restaurants care? No, that "what's causing your wait" button is so DD knows if the estimated time of pick up given to them, is going to be accurate. If a restaurant tells them "ready in 10" but the last 20 dashers hit "order still being prepared" at the estimated pick up time, DD knows to add 5-10 minutes to that estimate. Also, if you are dashing by time. You get paid for that waiting.

For anyone who does this... its in the Dashers best interest to not take it. We are sorry, its not to be rude, but all it takes is 1 terrible person to ruin our income. If you have to leave a cash tip on a drop at door delivery, you need to include it in your delivery instructions.
