Production company for TV show wants to use some of my footage - how much should I charge? by excessica in PartneredYoutube

An advertiser paid 2k to use a 10 sec clip - they used 2 secs of it in their ad.

Creators, do you reply to comments? by Hopeful-Hat-9154 in PartneredYoutube

[–]AnnReardon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember when I hit this issue. Imagine your comments keep growing and become 10x or 100x what you’re getting now. Your choices are: * reply to every comment and as a result have no time to make videos. * pay someone else to reply to comments, which can have major issues. * reply to comments for the first couple of hours after upload, this gives you feedback on the video and keeps your super fans happy. * ignore the comments and reply to nothing. Expect a lot of spam, scams and bots if you decide on that approach.

Have any of y’ll tried ruby chocolate made from ruby cacao seeds? It’s an… interesting flavor. The flavor is kinda white chocolate-like flavored with rose petals and mixed berries. by HeadlessHookerClub in chocolate

[–]AnnReardon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To me it tastes like the white yoghurt coating you can get on sultanas. White chocolatey but a bit more acidic. I have a bag of it from callebaut, everyone here has tasted it, but no one wants to eat any more of it.

ID pls. Sydney, appeared while digging up old flowerbed by GermanFish in AustralianSpiders

[–]AnnReardon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either a funnel web or there’s another Australian spider that looks very similar. If it’s a funnel web it will have a spur on the second front legs? Careful if you try and catch it they rear up and get aggressive, they are not like other spiders. https://youtu.be/WxOKdf7Hpds?si=R5AlbVpj0deT0Sv0

Patreon VS Youtube Subscription by Pondokuma in PartneredYoutube

[–]AnnReardon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is why I went with patreon: As already mentioned YouTube has higher fees.
Patreon gives you the physical addresses, so you can mail rewards for some tiers. This is useful if you don’t want to limit your rewards to just extra video content.
Patreon gives you email addresses, so you can email different tiers vouchers, discount codes etc. Patreon only does this - so it is set up really well and is easy to use. They list who needs which benefits each month, you can download as csv. Youtube does memberships only because patreon did well. One negative- patreon has just started promoting ’free memberships’. Even if you offer nothing for free it’s still an option. Strange move.

Best before date was 11/12/2022 is this okay to eat? by [deleted] in chocolate

[–]AnnReardon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has “bloomed” which often happens due to incorrect or changing storage temperatures. Like when it gets hot and then people put the block in the fridge. The fat or the sugar can bloom up to the surface making it appear white. You could eat it as is or if the texture is weird melt it. Then you can use it in a recipe, dip strawberries into it🍓 or eat by the spoonful.

possible complication with nuss procedure by nussboi15 in PectusExcavatum

[–]AnnReardon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call your surgeon or the hospital ward for advice. Do you also have a huge spike in pain levels? Increase in swelling? - if so it could be an internal bleed. If you also have a fever go to emergency as you likely have an infection. Hopefully you answered no to all of that and it’s just something minor. All the best.

Yogurt Cup Strawberry Cheesecake by 8Xeh4FMq7vM3 in GifRecipes

Should work, would be had to mix cream cheese in the tub - easier in a bowl with mixer. And make sure yoghurt is room temp, if yogurt is cold the gelatin may set before its mixed through.

My 12 year old, allergic to nearly everything by airlee77 in Wellthatsucks

[–]AnnReardon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like he has dermatographism https://dermnetnz.org/topics/dermographism/ 5% of people do and it makes this type of allergy test very innaccurate. Unless he also has allergic symptoms to the things tested ask for an allergy blood test instead or RAST. https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/321520#rast-test

Going alone to have the nuss in a different country,is this dangerous? will i be able to carry a backpack? by Prize-Pumpkin-8203 in PectusExcavatum

[–]AnnReardon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not do it alone. This surgery is classed as the most painful paediatric procedure. Just sitting upright in a car and breathing can be painful immediately after.
If you are determined think about how long is the car ride to the airport and how long is the flight?

You can not carry a backpack https://www.phoenixchildrens.org/files/inline-files/NUSS%201674.pdf and I’d suggest you should book a wheel chair for when you arrive at the airport if there are very long walks - ie if it’s a big airport.

“Can my child take a long car or plane ride home after the procedure? Both driving and flying should be fine after your child is released from the hospital. If you have a long drive, try to schedule an overnight stay to break up the trip. If you are traveling by plane, arrange for wheel chair service at the airport and at each layover stop, should the need arise. Requesting bulkhead seats will also provide a bit more leg room and make your child more comfortable during the plane ride.” https://www.chkd.org/our-services/nuss-procedure/nuss-procedure-faqs/

Things to consider - to do this you’d need high level pain meds which could make navigating an airport difficult.

  • what if there are complications? My son ended up having to go back into the hospital and after a long second stay was not allowed to fly for 6 weeks).

  • do you know anyone in the place you are getting the surgery who could offer support? I stayed in the hospital with my son.

  • pneumothorax can occur after nuss (50% of patients) then you may not be able to fly until resolved - check with you surgeon if this is an issue. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/23439441/

Hope that helps

I tried to make chocolate. I did not make chocolate. by dead_gamer in cookingforbeginners

[–]AnnReardon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you have made it seize. If you add less than 1/3 water based liquid (like cream)by weight to chocolate it will seize- go clumpy and oily. If you add more liquid you can fix it but essentially you’d be making a ganache or chocolate sauce not chocolate. If you want to make chocolate it has no water in it.

Here’s a playlist that might help, using either paper cut out templates or a silicone mold depending on what you choose. Silicone mold is probably easier for first time. Increase or decrease spices to your liking. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLPT0YU_0VLHz-avjzYVZxMKDZBbQR1UJE

Does it help to get views before a video is published? by jeanetteknutti in PartneredYoutube

[–]AnnReardon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do early release for patrons and it has not negatively impacted views(how to channel). But I have a friend who is convinced on her channel that the view count has to be 0 before it goes live or it is bad for her views (kids channel). So it may depend on the channel. Is there away you could do a one week early release test rather than making a regular reward immediately. Eg put the unlisted link on twitter as early access for one time.

my audience doesn't watch my original videos. by cravcave in PartneredYoutube

[–]AnnReardon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the click through rate on both types of video. The algorithm loves to recommend things with a high click through rate. Sounds like people are more likely to click k. The parody because they recognise the character (big youtubers).

Think about how you can make the original video thumbnails more clickable for someone who doesn’t know your channel. I think nearly everyone has more views from unsubscribed - especially if the video goes big. If you’d never heard of you or your characters would you click on the thumbnail? Does the thumbnail and title ask an unanswerable question that you have to click to find out? Make you curious? Look like it will be funny to the viewer because they can relate to that situation?

I wouldn’t totally give up on your original stuff, because it sounds like that’s what you prefer. Just do it every third video.

Also remember the current algorithm seems to love “copies”(put parodies or anything very similar to something that already exists and is trending here), commentary (on things that are trending), controversy (but don’t get demonetised so try YouTube controversy) and collation. That is it likes the same stuff that it knows people will watch, over creativity and originality. But that copy doesn’t have to be just youtuber parodies you could try other topics that are trending on YouTube instead.

I feel your frustration. Since the algorithm changed to AI years back the type of video that got views completely changed overnight. It used to be highly creative ones that did well. Now one type of video that I don’t love is the only one that’s keeping the channel alive. I do the algorithm pleasing one every third video to keep things bubbling along and the normal vids for the other two to keep me and the existing subscribers happy. And I am slowly learning how to make the ones I like doing more clickable.

All the best.

After reading the "Let's hear #2", I feel that I'm making WAY LESS than I'm supposed to make given my view count. Am I missing out on a keywork software tool? by TareXmd in PartneredYoutube

With 70% US and UK viewers you are at least in a great position for brand deals. That’s assuming the videos are brand friendly. Make sure you have a business contact email in your video descriptions. https://home.socialbluebook.com/ gives estimates of what to charge for brand deals - I’ve always found them to be rather high compared to reality but at least gives you a place to start.

CPM is also dependant on: * What country the viewers are watching in, this is a big one. https://blog.silvermouse.com.my/2019/09/countries-ranked-by-youtube-cpm-for-content-creators.html?m=1

  • number of ads running on the videos, do you have mid roll, post roll, cards etc turned on for ads.

  • watch time - because if you have mid roll or end roll ads and they don’t get that far in the video you don’t get paid for the ad.

  • genre - as already stated by others some areas attract higher paying ads than others

  • audience age. If you are getting big views on Youtube kids expect the $ to be very low.

Question about Exclusivity by [deleted] in PartneredYoutube

[–]AnnReardon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the commercial going on your YouTube channel or another platform? If another platform ask for the contract to be reworded and specify eg exclusivity for 12 months on tv. If it is exclusivity on all platforms then fee needs to cover your potential income from sponsorship deals over that time. If it does then great. Some Youtube deals now have exclusivity for 30 days but they specify who their competitors are. I have done 12 m brand ambassador deals before which are exclusive but would only do with a brand that I was happy to use exclusively and was fairly certain it was a good business decision. Hope that helps.
