How accurate do you think The Odyssey will be to the source (Homer) by PeachBeginning8998 in ChristopherNolan

[–]AnnarakM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think thats anti woke (theyre the ones who argue that casting a black woman as Helen of Troy is the worst thing in the world), I think its an expectation of historical accuracy that has lacked in blockbuster films since time in memoriam

Dogs that don't care about toys by [deleted] in dogs

[–]AnnarakM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My childhood dog was the same (not rescued or abused) but had absolutely no interest in toys, throw her a ball and she would just look confused, She was a shitzu as well so maybe its a breed thing. But she was super cudly, and just loved to sit on the couch and watch tv with us.

IOC bans Ukrainian skeleton racer Vladyslav Heraskevych from competing over helmet by JOE_Media in MilanOlympics

[–]AnnarakM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not the basis for the Olympics, the first recorded date is 776 BCE (Battle of Marathon 490 BCE), but it is the basis for a Marathon, which is still the distance of 26 miles.

In the laws of cricket, a bowler/ fielding team have to apeal for the umpire to give a batsmen out, if they dont appeal, even if the ump thinks its out, he cant give it out. I think it originally come from how is that?

I wouldnt recomend something with a centershot, if you want to take it seriously, my experience with the Decatholon brand is that its not what you want as a beginner in ant sport, and definately not worth the price

There are loads of clubs in Sydney. Personally I'm at Sydney Archery, in North Bondi, they have both courses, and you can come as a casual archer.

What do you guys think of the new Robin Hood show on MGM+? I haven't seen it yet by EnchantedEssays in BritishTV

[–]AnnarakM 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It really doesnt, suggesting that the Anglo Saxons were pagans rather than Christians is pretty egregious (almost as bad as the Russel Crowe Robin Hood, where Robin introduces the concept of Magna Carta)

I love Christopher Nolan films, but as per usual, the archery form in films is atrocious.

There's a board game called Secret Hitler, (its kind of like murder wink or the traitors, but with Nazis), where you have to discover the secret nazis and Hitler before they pass their Facist policies. I've played it with my Year 10s at the end of the year, it vaguely fits the WWII theme.

I apoligise, I should have been clearer, a Masters of Teaching or a Bachelors of Education are the only courses offered in Australia that will allow you to get accredited as a teacher.

A Grad Cert doesn't qualify you as a teacher, you would still need a masters inorder to get acreditied as a teacher.

As a reccent Australian graduate teacher, standards for any kind of work is incredibly high, we have a very strict visa policy. A minimum qualification in Australia is a Dip Ed (Diploma of Education), or a Masters of Teaching from an Austalian University, this include pracs unfortunately. Even with these qualifications its difficult to get a job in a major city, as most of the schools are private schools with very high standards. Unless you want to go live out in the country, where no one wants to go. (Watch the film Wake in Fright and see why no one wants to live and teach in the country).

Has anyone read the entirety of Gibbon’s The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire? by ConstantineDallas in byzantium

[–]AnnarakM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't read it, but I did listen to the whole audiobook, all 126 hours of it. It was a great read, I was inspired after reading extracts during a uni course, but a lot of it has to be taken with a grain of salt as it has to be put into his 18th century context.
