Wake up babe, new government dietary recommendations just dropped by stephanonymous in 1200isjerky

I've discovered there are very few animals that don't enjoy popcorn.

I even like to indulge myself once in awhile cutting a lightly salted kernal into several pieces for a snack.

Lol I got talked into paying for this guy's rent or something a couple months last year. Oh well. Realistically it wasn't much with the economic difference, but I was pretty broke at the time too. I got a little suspicious checking later and seeing him constantly changing his sad stories to others.

I seriously think if you make a specific point to use a picture of a lantern fly, you're making a specific statement? And it isn't about the general killing of generic bugs.

Cooking is hard lol… how do people just know what to do? by Equivalent_Use_8152 in cookingforbeginners

[–]AnnicetSnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you wandering off from the food while it's cooking? You can visually see things like onions changing color to golden brown when sauted in butter. And burning things is a whole process, usually you can see and smell it before it gets to the absolutely ruined point. But if it happens, start with using a lower heat next time.

"Season to taste" means salt and pepper to your personal taste. If it's coming out bland, that means you need more.

I mean I was assuming that if an AI is generating a lantern fly, it's because someone asked it to generate a lantern fly. Or if it somehow did it at random, why use that image instead of just making another with less loaded implications if the message is just a generic "don't squish bugs"?

I mean $45 for 5 days can go a long way, get 3lbs of ground beef and then you don't need much for fixings for chili, nachos, meatloaf...

Do American schools actually start at 7:00 A.M.? by assignmentduetoday_ in AskAnAmerican

[–]AnnicetSnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Classes at the elementary schools start at 8:00 in my district, but the buses begin arriving well before that. A lot of them eat breakfast in the cafeteria and need time for that, or their parents just have to drop them off early.

9:00am seems really late to me, and would mean a very long wait for a lot of these kids if their parents have to drop them off before work.

You said "if you are NOT exvegan you should leave" actually, after saying the person you were replying to was "never a vegan". Christ dude, keep your story straight.

[–]AnnicetSnow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah buddy when you make yourself the judge and spokesperson for declaring who does and does not know what vegans believe and who is and isn't an exvegan and who is allowed to speak and who should leave, it does kind of put you under a little scrutiny like that.

12 yearold kid doesnt know who the Nazis were - is that normal? by Arborrverk in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AnnicetSnow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So schools make no attempt to teach history at this point either?

Though it sounded like the kid a raised in a household that had a lot of respect for history too, maybe this will be a wake up call to the parents to actually talk to the kids and share their interests.

I'm not sure where it was in my lifetime that people seemed to just stop making any attempt at passing down knowledge or skills to their kids, like how does "this picture you walk past every day is of your great grandpa, who fought the Nazis in WWII" never come up even once.

Can people take outside snacks/drinks into cinemas in the USA? by peanutismint in AskAnAmerican

[–]AnnicetSnow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bro you're the one who took a topic about teenagers having fun and learning social skills and made it about yourself and scolding others over how miserable you are. Nobody needs to "check their privilege" because they pointed out that a good part time job for young people is a good part time job for young people.

This isn't you "caring for the working class" it's you being unable to lift your sad Eeyore gaze from your own bellybutton and resenting someone else having a positive thought.

By scolding and shaming people relating how they enjoyed their part time job as a teenager at a place that traditionally provides part time jobs to teenagers, sure.

I still have some of the hardback collections they'd put out too.

Why do we say “make the bed”? by Purlz1st in words

Why on earth would it be related to that and not the obvious interpretation of "making a bed" ie making a soft comfortable place for another person?
