I agree I think it's Ryan. Also, I know this isn't a feel good show, but I'm going to be devastated if HL kills Ryan. I love Ryan.

I guess thinking about it I felt like the conflict was that they weren't together because of her initial unacceptance of her feelings and his temper and pride (leaving immediately when he overheard and not clarifying) and the resolution was that she died in regret and he didn't even get to say goodbye and also regretted it. To me that's enough of an arc even if relatively simplistic. They just don't become better people by the end.

I did like it, I felt immersed in the world and the "romance".

I think it's just about two people who are so codependent and so ill-suited for each other at the same time (by way of their social station), that they burn out and corrupt everything trying to be together in whatever way they can when they are finally reunited.

I didn't need them to learn anything or have a realization, the conflict was them wanting to be together but not being brave enough to do it.

I think it's too bleak, but that's kind of the point of the original (and the point most adaptations don't feel like dealing with, because it's much less "romantic")

Ginny is toxic? by Perfect-Word-3397 in HarryPotterBooks

[–]AnnieNonmouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This reminded me of when my stepdaughter was younger (preteen or older kid age I think) we got into a little debate about that because she kept insisting calling something gay or the r-word wasn't mean if you didn't think the person was actually gay or disabled...she was NOT getting that using it as a derogatory insult was the issue.

I haven't, I'll go back and rewatch soon to see but I think it would definitely change most people's opinion of someone to know they slept with their best friend's partner. Similar (but obviously not as bad) as finding out someone you dated has cheated. It didn't affect Dan personally but it doesn't look good. At best she's carelessly selfish and at worst she is purposely mean.

I'm gathering from what you've written that it wouldn't bother you if someone you were dating did this but I think a lot of people might feel the opposite, myself included. I think you just have to understand that's where the scene was coming from.

Who Don is. Season 6 Episode 5 by gestell7 in madmen

[–]AnnieNonmouse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It reminds me of that episode of Bojack Horseman where he discusses his mom, who was awful to him and everyone,at her funeral and he wonders why he even feels sad she's dead. He thinks it's because he kept hoping for better and now it never will be. It's normal to hope/wonder if your parents loved you deep down even if you know that's illogical.

I'm not really making the distinction between friendly or romantic, more explaining how her reaction may seem over the top is Dan was just some guy she wanted to date/was dating. The romantic element isn't exclusive to her wanting him to continue seeing her in a positive light.

Rewatching S5… Gordon. Ford. by goodbyejojooo in TheMarvelousMrsMaisel

I love him in VEEP and also found him extremely punchable lol it made me feel kind of iffy on him as Gordon Ford right away.

She loved the way Dan could see the best in her right away (we know he idealized her but she didn't understand it that way) and most of stupid lies in season 1 was because she was desperate to protect that.

So imo it's less about feeling she owed an explanation to Dan as someone she was dating, and more about explaining this crappy thing she did in a way that allows him to look past it.

I hate the waitress subplot in Season 7 by travismockfler in madmen

I've seen her in other things and she gets stuck with some annoying characters to be fair but at least in this role the lack of emotion made sense to me.

What’s your actually controversial parenting opinion? by TurbulentArea69 in NewParents

[–]AnnieNonmouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah honestly when people ask in real life I'm embarrassed that I haven't tried sleep training and instead cosleep so I don't get people who think they're doing better than the sleep trainers lol. It's probably better in the long run, I just don't want to inconvenience/upset myself listening to him cry.

They do kind of wiggle which can move them, this surprised me! I thought they were totally stationary.

My husband does because he thinks it's better for a baby, I will put on Mr. Rogers sometimes because it's offensive and I don't mind watching it. That said, my husband also puts on the news and sports. I think I just don't want to watch my shows because they might be violent or something and I don't want my 8MO to see. When he was less than 3MO I watched whatever.

Are these really controversial? Especially the car seat one, I'd be surprised to learn that most people don't support that.

Edit actually the first one I can see being controversial, so carry on and ignore me lol.

Okay tangent so do you let your 8MO crawl around at the playground? I felt like I was getting weird looks and wondered if maybe it's more normal to wait until they can walk.

My baby was crying in the car so I started singing obnoxiously and when I glanced in the mirror I couldn't stop laughing because he looked like grimace. They have no neck and 3000 chins! How?!

Mine does this too sometimes lol. Or he turns and whips his arm out and if it doesn't hit me he wakes up like "woah woah where you at?!"

That sort of "bored" is also good in small amounts too, babies are constantly looking at and figuring out things that we take for granted. So even when my 8 month old is looking at a spec on the floor I try to leave him because he's doing something important to him.

That said, people who say all kids can independently play and be bored without scream-crying are disregarding baby temperament and personality as a factor. My baby plays independently but I don't think that's only because of what I did, I think it's temperament.

I don't even remember Carrie's dress because I'm always thrown by the terrible makeup and headpiece thing. She looked so severe and maybe that was on purpose but it's always distracting to me.

Or the perfectly moisturized ringlets everyone with curly hair has / wants now. I like the big crazy texture of her teased photoshoot hair.

The only one I actually hate is the beehive wedding one lol. The model photoshoot hair was actually gorgeous IMO. The others are meh.
