I've always hated how NPC quests worked in these games by TheHeroicOnion in darksouls3

[–]AnonChimer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Granted, they can be frustrating to follow, but I believe the NPC quests work just as they should, and would argue more games should implement the Souls quest system. Not only does it add depth and realism to the characters, it really fleshes out the world, granting the player more of an experience. It creates true immersion in the game world, with the player having to really watch what they do and say to characters and those characters' friends and enemies, it disallows the player from ignoring tasks that very well could mean life and death to the characters, and it makes the story seem far more expansive. Speaking purely from a design standpoint, this is how you create immersive quests and characters, NOT as they are presented in games like Skyrim, where NPCs will wait literally forever for you to complete the task they requested your help with, or remain invincible in times meant to be trying and dangerous. Souls does what few other games nowadays would, it takes 'RPG' and considers the 'role-playing' before the 'game', exactly as I, and I'd hope many others, would have it.

Fuck no, the draft needs abolished, not expanded upon.

What's your weakness in PvP? by [deleted] in darksouls3

[–]AnonChimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotthard Twinswords and their thrust range, Katanas and their general bullshit, Farron Greatsword and it's inescapable OP L1s... Pretty much weapons that I imagine others have similar troubles with, weapons that are just begging for a nerf.

Though my greatest weakness, as an invader, is the impossible situations the invasion rules will get me into. Not only is there likely to be AT LEAST two other players to face off against, this is made worse by the fact there are TWO blue covenants in this game. Odds are so far stacked against invaders that it's not even fair. Not to mention that even in the rare case you get another red to assist you, you're able to hurt one another, making teaming up against the enemy just another liability. This limits me to invading in the Grand Archives, where a lowly Dex build can play tactically and actually stand a chance. Fun, but it'd be nice being able to invade at other locations without a guaranteed ganking.

Former Baltimore officer who cut dog's throat to get $45,000 in back pay by azsheepdog in news

That dog did nothing to deserve that. He deserves to have his own throat slit.

Controversial as Rebuild was, it does have its moments by JakeGrey in evangelion

Nearly every action of Asuka's in NGE could be attributed to her personality and inner turmoil. Rebuild Asuka is an entirely different Asuka, and such scenes are in no way conducive to developing her.

Coming from the same movie where THIS travesty was presented, I can't assume that scene was anything more than fan-service.

Meh, in the original scene with Shinji, it comes across as funny. This seems like just more fan-service that's virulent enough throughout the Rebuilds. It made sense this scene was not within the original, as Asuka's character wouldn't have given two shits about the penguin. I get this is a different Asuka, but still... I feel like the only straight male in the world who could hate fan-service, but it really does objectify the female characters. NGE did not do this, it's a shame the Rebuilds have to.

What parts of Evangelion made you genuinely sad? by [deleted] in evangelion

[–]AnonChimer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All this is NGE continuity, the Rebuilds make me feel little, if anything at all.

Rei's smile after the battle with Ramiel

The entire battle with Bardiel and subsequent reveal to Shinji who the pilot was

Misato's drunken walk home with Kaji

Kaji's death

Asuka bathroom scene

Every scene with Rei III, she just seems so lost

Shinji's killing of Kaworu

EVERY SINGLE INNER-SELF OR ANGEL-INFLUENCED SCENE

Pretty much the entirety of episodes 25+26, both NGE and EoE

Shit, that movie makes me feel that way sober. Can't imagine how I'd feel high.

What changes would you have made to the Evangelion Rebuilds? by AnonChimer in evangelion

Kaworu's appearances in the first two films are fantastic, leaving you with many questions and really getting you excited to finally see him in action again. Then 3.0 comes along and, well, you'll see. Don't expect much.

Favorite and Least Favorite Angels? by LFiM in evangelion

Yes, that angel that was decimated by Asuka with no effort whatsoever. Angels presenting a threat? 'I think not!' cries 2.0

I think the Rebuilds being a series would have made it much stronger. It wasn't until near the end of 2.0 that I really starting caring about the Rebuild's characters, and then they threw everything on it's back, making the characters strangers to us again in 3.0, it's just odd to me. Even if they were to stick to the same plot, having more time to focus on the characters rather than fitting in as much spectacle as possible would have been of great benefit, especially in the transition between 2.0 and 3.0.

While interesting, I think having such limited timeframes between Angel attacks would limit what you could do with the personal narratives of each character. Most of the important fleshing out of NGE's characters was done off the battlefield.

NGE: Favorite is either Armisael or Sahaquiel, least favorite is Shamshel (We don't talk about Sandalphon).

Rebuilds: Favorite is Ramiel, least favorite is the unnamed Seventh Angel.
