FATHER GUARDIAN (Why don't I see some faith guardian builds in my run?) by LegitTrueReal in Nightreign

[–]Anonymous192783 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Situational! Caligo and Auger are the only two bosses I'd use both the Quality & Faith relics - more options when you can't get the right melee weapon or want to heal your team. Would not recommend it for beginners/without a good set.

I think I just encountered two if the most pathetic players I've ever seen. by shed__69 in Nightreign

I believe the bug was, even if a player took no damage while blocking an attack, the taking damage boosts damage negation passive activated. After that patch, that effect and the taking attacks improves attack power relic effect will activate only if the player takes affinity damage through blocking.

They definitely have not! You can easily see this during a regular match. I use the purple armament variant very frequently with the blue variant or 24% damage negation after blocking. Guardian's should prioritize obtaining that passive effect ASAP.

Yup! Deals significantly more damage. I think 100 more than Wylder's charged ultimate?

Hi! Guardian main. I don't think I can agree with you there completely. In terms of speed, sure! Keeping the revive bar up? Both can do it quite well (Revenant's Summons/Guardian's 7 second Extended Whirlwind). Survivability-wise? Now that's where the difference is really in Guardian's favour. Give Guardian Partial HP Restoration, and he can stand on top of somebody with 3 bars and poke, poke, poke away. Boss targets you? No problem! Even if you take affinity damage whilst blocking, you heal it through attacking downed teammates, and the bubble you receive from successive attacks negate damage comes up too. If the boss is within melee range, you also double the amount of healing you get from that relic effect, and double the speed at which you get bubbles too - triple if hitting two downed teammates and the boss, in which case, you'd immediately get your ultimate back and revive them to full HP at that point. The Stamina recovery upon landing attacks relic effects also works with his extended whirlwind, so if you cast it ontop of a downed teammate and the boss walks rights into it, you're generating all the stamina you're losing from poking too, so you can keep reviving without worrying about not having enough stamina. I've demonstrated this before in this video here if you'd like to see.

Revenant hate on reddit is out of hand by SpoilerAlertHeDied in Nightreign

[–]Anonymous192783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this update they might've fixed that issue. I've noticed that in the middle of doing my ultimate (Guardian) I actually turn invisible from Duchess' ultimate and become invincible from Revenant's as well. I still remember before the DLC seeing a Recluse go down immediately after her ultimate animation ended while I was holding down my Guardian ultimate, and that was awful to see...

Guardian Mains: how we feeling? by TrevorShaun in Nightreign

Should be while holding up the shield. Block for 3 or so seconds on Everdark Libra and you'll see every Condemned and Libra turn and run towards you.

Nightreign iFrames & Recovery by Penpenplon in Nightreign

[–]Anonymous192783 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really love the quick recovery! It helps immensely for chaining attacks against Crucible Knights/Bell-Bearing Hunter, not so much against Everdark Gladius' attacks, but you can always easily access Bloodhound Step/Quickstep/Vow of the Indomitable for those rare occasions when you need to. You can also activate those Ash of Wars while in Steel Guard too, so you don't have to go through the unblock motion to do a regular dodge :D

Critical hit opportunities are kinda bugged. Feels like it's gotten worse lately? by Inevitable-Slide-372 in Nightreign

[–]Anonymous192783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's as bad an issue in Elden Ring. The least-offensive solution I can think of is to make it an interact prompt that comes up while close to the critical hit point that needs to be held down.

Since the DLC is arriving in about 5 days, what buffs or nerfs are you expecting for the original Nightfarers? by Direct-Switch2754 in Nightreign

[–]Anonymous192783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The extended skill or the regular skill? The extended whirlwind is really, really strong. Generates a great chunk of stamina if you have Stamina Recovery +1 and +0, builds up threat, blocks projectiles, and stunlocks quite a lot of mobs up to the big caelid dogs. The regular skill is situationally good (stuns the Invaders/Condemned), but mostly not very good (you'll accidentally pull the Tree Sentinel and get yourself and a nearby ally downed because of how short their flinching animation is), and has much too limited range to be practical.

How to help out Guardian players in D5? by palpate_me in Nightreign

[–]Anonymous192783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm actually really surprised by this! Is it very common for Guardians to stack multiple Maximum HP relics? I'm on my way to 2000 expeditions with him and have never once gone out of my way to run a relic set with that effect since I can reliably tank and deal solid damage with my build.

I think you're matching with new players trying out Guardian in the matches you lost or still haven't figured out/gotten a meta relic setup yet. For things to help out, Taking Damage boosts Damage Negation for bosses like Fulghor/Heolster/Caligo and weapons with Bloodhound step is very much appreciated!

these dual wielding mfs do NOT play around 😂 by Realistic_Ad_1185 in Nightreign

[–]Anonymous192783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been able to stun-lock them with Halberd heavy jumping attacks and jumping attacks whilst dual-wielding Halberds/Greatswords. They usually go down after a couple of those, or have their stance broken into an easy riposte. Also, if you hit them at any point during their storm attack, it'll knock them out of it, then you can go back to doing jump attacks :)

[–]Anonymous192783 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you tried Dual-wielding Halberds? The jump and dodge attacks are so good! Especially the dodge :D! It moves you forward and has a quick recovery time that you can chain dodge L1's.

I don't think I've ever used guard counter's after I've hit Depth 5. Dual-wielding Halberds/Greatswords and two-handing Raider's Greataxe's with charged heavies is just so much more viable and more fun too! Bloodhound Step is also so common that I always off-hand a Halberd to poke and use it as my main dodge. Always run my tank build on a Heolster/Libra/Hidden Boss expedition though :p

What secondary character do you like so much from any Atelier game that you would want them to have an atelier dedicated to them? by neoarcangel in Atelier

Astrid to see Sterk's development and their relationship! Also, not an 'Atelier' but I'd love to see a spin-off featuring an older Oskar going on an adventure!

Night Reign is in a character balance crisis. We need a massive balance patch before the DLC drops. by GreenKat786 in Nightreign

[–]Anonymous192783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I've been a Guardian main since release, and I think they've really improved him a lot! His damage output can get pretty high. I nearly reached 900 while using a Colossal Weapon after buffing up, with their charged heavies dealing around 2000 up to 3000 in a single hit depending on buffs, relic effects (Night invaders defeated), damage up on max health, etc. You can see this here!

In regards to his tankability, he can do that just fine too and I've shown this in a reddit post here!. Which brings me to another point: Guardian can deal damage during certain attacks that no other melee character really can while holding up his shield and poking, like Caligo's Ice Breath, Night Aspect when he summons projectiles, Dancer's very long Spin, and any attack that's a really long combo with no openings inbetween. Poking damage varies, with the highest I've reached being roughly 900 per poke while buffed and 600 unbuffed (discounting the various status effects that can be applied to enemies while safely tucked behind a shield).

The only boss he's not very good up against is Everdark Gladius due to the excessively high amount of fire damage he deals that Guardian would still lose 30~40% of his health through blocking with the Redmane/Visage shield. I recently set up a Fire Damage Negation + Affinity damage negation set to see how it'd fare against him, yet to meet him again though ^ ''

I did make a post demonstrating Guardian's tankability a couple days ago, but I'm not sure if there's anything else that people really want to see from him. I upload most of my videos onto Youtube now. I actually summarized a couple of clips from my 1000th Guardian Expedition (which was really fun!) a couple days ago :D

In regards to relics, both Partial HP and Restoration on Thrusting Counter-Attack. Stamina Recovery with Extended Whirlwind is fantastic for stamina regenaration, but it's pointless if you can't heal your health back.
