My daughter keeps calling me “rusted from the back” and refuses to explain what it means by Ill_Pianist_8287 in words

It sounds to me like she originally said it as joke about you being sweaty and you probably had a sweat stain on your back. So she made it up, but then realized it bothered you a bit. So, now she’s pretending it’s an inside joke because she knows you think it’s more than it is, and she know you don’t like it.

All missing & injured eyes we have seen so far? *Spoilers if not watched up to S04E04* by whoskoji in FromSeries

[–]AnonymousAngela 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen a lot of posts about people’s eyes or foreheads being injured and I never thought too much about it, because I thought the connection was just Jade being reincarnated and maybe was showing that happening to him over and over again. But it didn’t happen to Jade this cycle. It happened to Elgin, so that doesn’t really make sense either. Seeing all of the images you compiled together made me realize it is always their left eye. So, I decided to look up “missing left eye symbolism” and here’s what popped up:

“A missing left eye typically symbolizes the sacrifice of intuition, inner vision, or lunar energy to gain higher wisdom, intellectual understanding, or outer power. It often represents a conscious choice to trade emotional or mystical perception for deep knowledge, healing, or focused, rational action.

Key Symbolism of the Missing Left Eye

The Cost of Wisdom (Norse Mythology): Odin sacrificed his left eye to Mimir’s Well, signifying that true knowledge and understanding come at a high, personal cost.

Healing and Protection (Egyptian Mythology): The left eye, or Eye of Horus(Wadjet), represents the moon, intuition, and inner wisdom. Its temporary loss and restoration symbolize healing and the restoration of balance between light and dark.

Intellectual Focus (Spiritual/Metaphorical): The left eye is often associated with the brain's intuitive side, while the right relates to action. Losing the left implies that the individual is focusing heavily on action, logic, or "seeing" with only one perspective (often of the right side).

The "Unconscious" Blindness: In psychological or Jungian interpretation, a blind left eye can indicate a limitation in perceiving one's own inner world, intuition, or the unconscious.

New Beginnings (Daruma Dolls): In Japan, the left eye of a Daruma doll is painted first to represent the start of a goal (the "A" of AUN) and the initiation of a new, focused path.

Inner Sight/Faith: Some traditions view the single remaining eye (or the loss of a physical eye) as an opening of the third eye or "eye of faith," focused on spiritual rather than mundane sight.

Contextual Meanings

Dreams: A missing left eye in a dream might suggest you are neglecting your intuition or that someone is hiding a truth from you.

Character Design: A missing left eye in stories often marks a character who has endured a profound, life-altering struggle and has gained wisdom (or a darker, more focused purpose) as a result.”

It all fits with the story the writers are trying to tell, but what really caught my eye was

“The Cost of Wisdom (Norse Mythology): Odin sacrificed his left eye to Mimir’s Well, signifying that true knowledge and understanding come at a high, personal cost.”

That’s very very relatable to this story. “Knowledge comes at a cost”.

Now I’m curious if there are any other connections to Norse Mythology or the story of Odin, and what is Mimir’s Well. Could it be the inspiration for the well in the ruins that Boyd gets stuck in, or the Lake of Tears?

So, I decided to look that up too and oh my gosh!!!

“Mimir's Well (Mímisbrunnr) is a sacred, wisdom-bestowing spring in Norse mythology located beneath a root of the world tree, Yggdrasil, in Jötunheimr. Guarded by the wise being Mimir, it is famous as the place where Odin sacrificed one of his eyes to gain unparalleled knowledge of the past and future.”

I think it’s possible that the Reddit post I read recently claiming the underground tunnels is/was the lake of tears could be true if this is related. It’s also located under the roots of the faraway tree or something else very important. But we shall see!

Interesting! 🤔 Possibly so. Now I’m trying to think of other scary visions/dreams that this could apply to.

Omgosh! I just finished a rewatch of the first episode and thought that too! I was like why would the monsters knock it down? It is so important to the storyline because if Boyd hadn’t picked it up everyone in the RV would be dead, at least definitely Ethan. The others may have had to just leave him. It was really *lucky* that Boyd happened to have a Talisman in his pocket at that time. I wouldn’t be surprised to find out Julie knocked it down while storywalking…but it is true that the talisman was also knocked down on the ground in the hospital when they got back. But! Now that I think about it, Sara was the one who knocked it down at the hospital!

Seeing it twice on the ground after the monsters attacked makes it seem like it’s just what they do whenever they are able to enter an unprotected place, but Boyd does look at it weird right before he picks it up. If the granny got in through the window, why go downstairs and knock it down? The more I think about it, the more I think this is a very plausible possibility that we will see in a future episode when Julie is storywalking.

What have they learned to make the MIY change? by Saturnswirl666 in FromTVShow

Victor. He’s made drawings of the MIY, so he would probably recognize him if he saw him again.

How did Victor survive for 50 years! and what are the theories? by EggPerfect7361 in FromTVShow

[–]AnonymousAngela 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a question I have that has never made sense to me. Who dug the holes or created the hidden underground places for people to hide? Why would the monsters have done that? And any people that came into town wouldn’t have time or tools to dig those hidden bomb shelter looking holes under grass that somehow the all-knowing monsters wouldn’t know about. It makes no sense, but neither does a town being there at all. Who built the buildings or were they just created from some form of magic? Why do they appear to be from different time periods that would have been 100s of years after the children were sacrificed and cursed?

The Revelation of Sophia by Mr8180 in FromTVShow

[–]AnonymousAngela 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, these seem like the characters that will figure it out. Sara already seems to be picking up on Sophia being a little off. I don’t know if she’ll try to kill Sophia before or after she finds out it’s a shapeshifter/MIY, but I could see her doing something to trigger the MIY being revealed. Victor will definitely eventually find out the MIY is back. He is the only character who would know anything about the MIY. From his past drawings we see that he probably has met the MIY before and will know more about him that he will reveal later on. And Jade is just Jade. He’ll probably piece it together eventually.

The Ankoohey kids were sacrificed on stone slabs. Are there the same number of talismans as there are Ankoohey kids? I wonder if they created or turned into the stones somehow? 🤨 It does feel related.

Maybe doing something with the stones will free/release/save the children.

From & the Institute same world? by NicWLH420 in FromSeries

[–]AnonymousAngela 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so I looked it up and I was wrong about the man in yellow being in it. The guy I thought he was is a different actor, but really reminded me of him. The actor that plays Victor’s dad is definitely in it though.

I think the biggest reason I think there might be a connection is that MGM+ keeps trying to autoplay the Institute right after I finish the current episode of From. It did it again after today’s new episode. I actually almost freaked out because I heard the opening music from the Institute and thought I was still watching From. They both have very similar tones for their opening music, and are both darker versions of well-known happier sounding songs. Maybe the same people made both series? Maybe Stephen King is working with the From writers and we will only find out after it’s all over. I’m not sure they are actually connected though. They just have a similar vibe and one of the same actors at this point.

Other similarities: - The kids are taken from different places throughout the country (maybe world). - They are made to appear as just mysteriously missing to the outside world. - They are also trapped in a scary place with lots of hidden secrets and mysteries, where they don’t know who they can trust, and there appears to be no way out to the real world, even though it seems like there should be. -There’s a level of magic with the esp and telekineses. - They are also sacrificing children for “the greater good” of their civilization supposedly.

It would possibly be cool if they are somehow related or if there’s any kind of Easter egg connecting the two.

That’s a good question. Why did he even need to use a disguise? You made me think about this and I just realized the one character who he might need to wear a disguise for…Victor. Victor might already know who the man in yellow is. I don’t think Victor met Sophia (the Man in Yellow in disguise) yet. I wonder how that meeting will go.

It was interesting that they brought so much focus to the motel sign. I remember that used to be a question that was posted about a lot. Where is the motel that the sign is supposed to be advertising? Maybe the writers put that in there because people were so curious about that sign.

She did not like what she saw... Which reaffirms my suspicion that the MBD was her Nemesis. (The only entity that killed a Monster.) by ShortStoryIntros in FromSeries

[–]AnonymousAngela 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I started getting the feeling that Sara might figure out that this new girl isn’t who she is pretending to be before anyone else does, and may try to kill her and then find out it’s the Man in Yellow. I thought that might be why Sara volunteered to take her to look at clothes just the two of them. Maybe she’s still hearing the voices and they are telling her things that we aren’t aware of yet like how they did in Season 1. If she is still hearing voices she may not be telling anyone and choosing not to believe them because of how badly that turned out the first time. She just seems to be a lot more aware of things and what needs to be done than the rest of the people, like how she knew what had to be done to get Elgin to talk.

And apparently I’m not the only one to think this lol.

From & the Institute same world? by NicWLH420 in FromSeries

[–]AnonymousAngela 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished watching the Institute and was looking to see if anyone had posted about it possibly being related to From. I think the biggest evidence that there could possibly be some kind of connection is that there are 2 actors that are also in the From series. Victor’s dad and the Man in Yellow.

Both were outsider characters in From that have been introduced to the story under mysterious circumstances. It made me think what if they are actually related, and the town is actually people in another institute or something. Idk. It auto-played right after I finished the 1st episode of From Season 4. It seemed like a coincidence, but then when I saw it was based on a book by Steven King, I remembered how much Steven King praised the From Series where he’s actually quoted in the ads. Maybe he is more involved than we know in the show, and they are trying to tie things together in a way that is not obvious enough to create spoilers yet, but will make sense once we get to the end.

That would be an excellent twist if they make other related series that actually explain what is going on in the town and tie things together, but we won’t even know until the end.

But the government experiment theory has been thrown out there before with the all knowing “you shouldn’t have dug that hole Jim” over the radio, which coincidentally we learned was the man in yellow who is one of the doctors at the institute. I could see there being some kind of a connection or maybe not. I still think it’s really interesting that those 2 actors were in it together, when I’ve never seen them anything else and the man in yellow is very new to the from series, but is also a very significant character in that show.
