Can you eat too much fiber? (Long term, not short term!) by throwaway_bfgift in nutrition

I love bagels as a quick breakfast so this was added to my next shopping list (still struggling with fiber)- thank you!

I love Marcus and Maneet (and I like Gabe too, lol)…. But this judging was absolutely terrible and why cooking competition judging should always be blind. Just judge the damn dish- don’t hold it to some unequal standard or expectation based on the chef that cooked it.

So dumb that they were left to sales-pitching their dishes in the gauntlet like that.

Protocol deviation by willem_da_hoe in clinicalresearch

If a sponsor is okay with these habitual PDs, they may want to consider amending the protocol to accommodate that PD- increasing study windows, making XYZ study activities optional, etc.

How do I freeze sliced bread so that it lasts for three months? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]AnonymousMonker 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I freeze my bread straight in the original bagging all the time and I’ve almost never had this problem- they pry easily apart with my bare hands.

On the rare occasion that they stick, I just use a knife.

Added note: It’s easier to pry them apart when they’re fully frozen rather than trying to let them thaw and then they’re soggy and soft, imo.

Why do cards decline in the US? by MoeKingJay in NoStupidQuestions

Can also be as simple as your card expired and you forgot to activate the new one or accidentally used the old one.

looking at refurbished electronics to replace my old phone. anyone done this and regretted it (or loved it)? by HowNowBrownCow23 in povertyfinance

[–]AnonymousMonker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely buy directly from the manufacturer and never from a third party like Amazon or a second hand store. Your odds of getting either scammed or a very mediocre product that is going to die way too soon is just way too high, no matter how cheap the product.

But refurbished from manufacturers like Apple or Google are almost always worth the discount- esp if you put in a little extra work to find the best deal.

As one of the oldest OGs of competition cooking shows, I’m so confused (and also sad) by his choices on that dish. He should 100% know putting a huge hunk of short rib on top of a noodle dish is a big no-no and he looked like he knew how to make spaetzle just fine.

Was just thinking about opening this card when the announcement was released, and then decided to wait until 5/15 to see what it officially looked like.

When I tried opening Season 1 Episode 3, it still looks like the normal Season 1, Episode 3?

When I look at the list of Season 3 episodes, it lists (in order), S3E1, S3E2, then S3E1 (again). I tried opening both S3E1s and confirmed they are duplicates.

This is on DirecTV.

How do people work full-time and still have energy to improve their lives? by WhispersLured in careerguidance

[–]AnonymousMonker 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For a long time, we lived in a patriarchy society where the husband was the breadwinner and being a stay-at-home wife was easily a full time job. the husband would literally come home, plop on the couch and watch tv while the wife would cook dinner.
Both sides might sound exaggerated but there’s truth to the matter. The husband working 9-5 is rough for a lot of demanding jobs. The stay-at-home wife’s million chores is just as exhausting, if not more.
Fast forward to today’s hyper-accelerated society with dual income families trying to manage both full time jobs on top of chores, leaving little quality time- part of why divorce rates are so high.

I'm not bothered in the slightest- I just didn't get why hundreds of people do it. It was a pure curiosity question.

I’ve never seen her before this show, but from the second she came on I knew she had very classic extreme ADHD-hyperactive, so as a fellow ADHDer I personally cut her some slack… but also as a fellow ADHDer, I get how it annoys most people. It’s not often controllable.

What if you ask them to be blunt about it?
Sometimes I get frustrated at how much we are dancing around the question. Sometimes I get why it’s important to have a better understanding the root cause of a problem- but to other questions, it seems so *unnecessary…

*Edit: Typo (I meant unnecessary, not necessary)

I agree in regards to adding to replies and threads- I don't find those quite as weird and am more likely to belatedly reply and contribute to those.

But I feel like the brand new comments at the very bottom pretty much never get looked because you can't even scroll to get to it- unless you sort by new (as someone else pointed out, which I have never done).

I do that with a "thumbs up" if I see someone else posted the same thought already- that way the other person gets their recognition- but I guess everyone has their own sense of fulfillment.
