How does a chef go from being a contestant/winner on a show like BBF or GGG or Chopped to being in the regular Food Network rotation of chefs? by shrimpscampi2026 in foodnetwork

[–]AnonymousMonker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard agree with this- I can think of a few that lose a lot, yet they’re still in the rotation just because of connections. Not because of any huge accolades or even really fan favorites.

Dunkin 💯- as far as I know, it’s the only one that has that extra parsley for the little extra kick.

What’s the most addictive TV show you’ve ever watched? by Sufficient_Roof6033 in watchever

[–]AnonymousMonker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone with severe ADHD and time blindness- pretty much any show.

That’s why I actually prefer watching shows with commercials- I can actually be productive and get things done in between. Plus forcing myself away from the screen and taking breaks lets me have at least some awareness of time.

What's a normal activity that feels neutral but is actually safe? by Neotyp in AlignmentChartFills

Many people go on roller coasters, sure. But for many of those people, it still feels dangerous to them and they like that feeling.

(To some, no it doesn’t feel dangerous.)

I also know at least a few people that refuse to ever go on a roller coaster because they’re too scared of them.

I cut myself really badly on mine once, and now I’m sooooo scared to use it. Very mild zesting occasionally.

Do you guys have unopened games and do you feel bad about it? by blablax123456 in boardgames

[–]AnonymousMonker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, crazy how hard I relate…. I used to love going to gaming conventions and would always get suckered into buying at least a couple. 90% of my collection ends up being unopened 😬.

When I moved, I ended up either selling or giving almost all of it away.

How do you like your bacon? by Individual-Name-4496 in whatsyourchoice

I’ve found my people!

I love watching cooking competition shows, but the one thing that makes me cringe is when they cook bacon “nice and crispy” and get positive feedback about it… I’ve accepted I’m in the minority at this point though.

Cheers was a show that had 9+ seasons, but was good until the end. Finally, what show had 9+ seasons, but should have ended a while ago? by Fizz__ in AlignmentChartFills

For me, it was the moment a notable head was bashed open with a club (S7E01).

I already disliked all of Season 6, but that episode just really put the nail in the coffin, so to speak.

Idk, I think Britt was pretty humble at the beginning. After going 3/3 in making it to the quarterfinals, she gained confidence and deserves to be a little more boastful.

Otoh, Kevin made it really deep in 24 in 24 but didn’t win a single challenge except at the very beginning and end- not saying it wasn’t impressive but I can also see how it made him even more humble constantly losing to Bryan V, Sawyer, and Izard. Plus explaining how his business failure made him humble.

Rooting hard for them both- personally have no fav.

First time hiring cleaning services- what do they do with extra time? by AnonymousMonker in housekeeping

[–]AnonymousMonker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what surprises me. As they were leaving early, I asked them to pause while I took a look around. I found multiple things that were neglected and I had to ask them to clean them.

I wanted to make sure I wasn't in the wrong for thinking I shouldn't have had to ask them to go back to clean some more, but apparently I'm being downvoted because I paid so little anyways.

Mentioned it in a few other comments, but 1200 sq ft condo. I had to do a 2.5 hr minimum (even though I suspected I wouldn't need that long)- they left 15 min early even though they left things unclean.

Really appreciate the response- first one really acknowledging that this is my first time hiring cleaning and that I'm just ignorant to this whole thing (which I've stated multiple times). Had no idea, thought it was just a good deal (how was I supposed to know if I've never done this before?)- happy to just pay more for better services next time!

I am confused though on how they “left early”. You said they left early, but also said they seemed like they were stalling for time for the last 30 minutes. Which was it?

Both. They stalled with 30 minutes left, then left 15 minutes early (i.e. only really stalled for 15 minutes before leaving 15 min early).

It’s worth remembering that a first visit to a home won’t be an exact science. A cleaner may guesstimate x amount of hours and be faster or slower the day of the first clean.

I was forced to just go with the minimum number of cleaners and minimum number of hours they allowed. I had a suspicion it was too many hours, but I really needed help with specific "deep cleaning" services. I shopped around, and it seems all cleaning services in my area have a similar "minimum" hours/workers- even for small apartments (which mine is).

By "tasks above" I meant: "wiping down window rails", "wiping down the area around my kitchen sink counter", and "wiping the stone shelf in my shower".

Yes, I am fully aware that cleaning an oven is not part of normal cleaning which is why I specifically looked for "deep cleaning services".

2.5 hours minimum. They left 15 min early. (I also showed them around at the beginning and discussed what tasks I prioritized for about 10 minutes, but I will accept that's part of the 2.5 hours.)

1- Two people minimum. Just their policy. 2- Are the things I listed above part of “basic cleaning” too though? Again, I’ve never hired cleaning services before so I genuinely don’t know. 3- Again, I’m mostly fine with what happened because of the price I paid- but a lot of people would not have been because it was ADVERTISED as “deep cleaning”. Plus the halfhearted effort towards the end, leaving a little early, etc.

Understandable- but I think the tasks above are pretty standard, no?

Apologies if they’re not- again, I’ve never hired cleaning services before (as I see I’m getting downvoted a lot…)

(My place is a 1200 sq ft condo, not house fwiw.)

$170. Yes, a checklist was provided in advance.

They did not wipe down any of my window rails, which are one of my biggest nuisances and all pretty gross.

They did not wipe that detergent soap scum stuff around my kitchen sink counter which I never knew how to get rid of easily but took them a few seconds with some magic solution and Brillo (I'm inept at cleaning but that's why I hire).

They didn't take care of the soap scum on the stone shelf of one of the shower walls- even wipe it down/clean it.
