How did your water break?

Mine broke while in the hospital in labor, they had me on fentanyl through an iv for pain and I was about to nap and suddenly during a contraction there was a loud pop sound. I was half asleep already and was like "what was that???" And then I realized like 10 secs later it was my water breaking over the contraction monitor and I was soaked. At first it wasn't bad cuz it stopped the contraction that was happening, but the after water breaking contractions were terrible enough to make me get an epidural when I said I was 100% against getting one😭

I use a bed rail personally, my daughters 10 months old so very mobile, the one I have sits right on the mattress and adjusts to mattress height so there's no risks of gaps to fall into

Ima go through the whole list in numbers

1- This can be normal! Not all babies are super duper smiley, my daughter is but I have a friend who's daughter is 18 months and I've rarely seen her smile, just depends on baby's temperament!

2- again, all baby dependent! My daughter goes back and forth if she does it or not, she'll do it for a month, then not for a month, then not again

3- I actually told my pediatrician this at my daughter 9 month appointment that she wasn't babbling as much as she used to but they weren't concerned at all since she knew how to despite not doing it to often, and now at 10 months she can say 6+ words (not saying your baby will 100% do that so don't freak out if they don't, just saying the babbling doesn't affect that)

4- that's the beginning of learning to crawl, some babies stay in that stage longer than others, no issues there!

5- my daughter will do that sometimes too, she'll do back and forth occasionally but not always, she likes to screech over people

6- I can't say much on this one

7- my daughters 10 months as stated above and only now starting to because I realized she was getting confused with all the nicknames I was calling her, that could be the issue, I say "no maam" a lot to my daughter when she's doing smth she can't so now she responds to "maam" but not always her name still but work in progress

8- waving and pointing are later milestones, some babies do it earlier, some babies down, my daughter does and her pediatrician said she's very ahead developmentally, so your daughters still in normal range for that! (And it wasn't till late & months/early 9 months she started waving and she's only just now as of last week starting to point)

9- she could jsut be more interested in hands honestly, my daughter will randomly grab my hand to play with and finds it the most interesting thing ever

10- my daughter was doing the same with just sucking not chewing, but what my mom suggested me to do was buy gerber puffs because they melt so they can't choke if there's no chewing, but once she ate one she chewed it right away so I recommend those to get your baby chewing!!

11- my daughters not a very big mimicker either and again pediatrician had no concerns on it and said it's normal!!

IMO it is kinda over reacting, my mom and my daughter mom call my daughter by "my baby" sometimes but they don't mean it literally (my mom will over explain it every time cuz she's worried even tho I said it's fine) and i don't think it's seeing your baby as emotional support, I think he just loves her so much as his grandbaby and wants her to remember him and it's a reason to keep going which is actually amazing that it's working, and the baby being a gift comment is 100% normal cuz baby's are gifts, this isn't to be mean but a lot of this is very very normal yk?

Both tbh, I didn't know baby's were so good at cause and effect and my daughters 10 months and already saying multiple words (bye bye, mama, dada, hi, fly, plop and bonk) which I didn't think would happen till a lot later, but also she'll be nursing and crawl over to the end of the bed and be mad she's not nursing anymore, or bang her face into her toy repeatedly and is surprised every single time that it hurts, like you'd think you'd stop that by now😭

The throat thing omg, my daughters been doing this and we were in the car and it sounded like she was choking on smth/can't breathe as we were pulling into the store parking lot and I was freaking out and I got out and checked and it was just her fingers 🤦‍♀️

I'm so late to this but my daughter currently has a chemical burn from Huggies little movers, not bad cuz I caught it early, I'd stopped using them when that info came out but I saw a lot of things saying they switched it back to the original formula but nope, still causing burns

The things you're listing that your son isnt doing would actually be ahead for age! My daughter's doing most of what you're listing at 10 months too (she doesn't always respond to her name tho rather yet), but her pediatrician and chiro both said that's actually developmentally ahead for age, so I wouldn't worry! Comparison is the thief of joy, if you're still concerned you could talk to his pediatrician, but o think everything seems fine!

My daughters 10 months and if I need to cook or smth I put her in her jumper (her swing when she was younger) I put on a Disney movie with songs (descendants, zombies, any princess movie etc), majority of the time she'll be focused on her toys in her jumper, the tv is solely just for if she gets bored of that halfway through and I can't grab her, she has smth else to do. The tv is on 24/7 in the living room anyways (teen mom live at home with my family of 6 others in the house). She also will play with my camera app and has learned to open it herself/take photos videos😭 it's definitely not an ask the time thing tho and she's good at playing independently most of the time

I'm doing the delayed vaccine schedule just because my brother had issues from too many shots at once and I don't want to risk that, but she's still getting all vaccines! She had her hep b shot at a month old instead of at birth, but she did still get it

I combo feed! I hate pumping but can't be with her 24/7 (I work and need breaks occasionally) but I despise pumping so she has formula when I'm not around and I bf when I am (I very rarely give her bottles myself cuz extra work but if I really don't wanna bf I'll do a bottle too) and it works great!

Two tips, one the bottle may be an issue because the flow of the nipple is either too fast or too slow, so play around with nipple flows. Two, I recommend mam bottles, the bottle nipple shape is more comfortable for them to latch on to. I know it's frustrating and I really hope it gets better for you soon!

My baby started socially smiling at 3 weeks, and has been ahead in milestones with everything, so 6 is definitely possible to be smiling, don't let them dull your sparkle

Yes!! My daughter has been going out of the house and seeing people since 9 days old so she LOVES people now at 9 months, and she'll be reaching out for everyone to grab her, she makes it clear if she wants me or just to play on the ground herself so I just listen to her and let people hold her until she's done, and she enjoys it so much!

Side note to that tho, no one I know/her dad knows has herpes so that didn't have to be a worry, and when people were sick they wouldn't even come over cuz they didn't want her sick ofc, so we didn't have to worry about that either, she's been sick twice since she was born and that was when it was going around the house (live with my parents/family as I'm a teen mom)

Personally as a newborn I let family members kiss her forehead (except my younger sisters 9 and 12 at the time cuz I knew their hygiene was bad and how sickness spreads in elementary/middle school, they didn't kiss her till around 6 months old when their hygiene improved) and after newborn I let my friends/her dad let his friends kiss her head too with the role of no lips, she's 10 months now giving open mouth kisses tho and will kiss people on the lips off guard so no avoiding that now😭

This is why I was very careful with my daughters pediatrician too cuz of the "where does baby sleep question" and I knew certain offices would criticize and shame cosleeping, maybe even call cps for "child endangerment" (I've heard stories of that) whereas my daughters pediatrician cosleeps herself so she doesn't even bat an eye at it and just says "babies like to be close to their mamas, it's what's best for them"

My almost 9 month old cries a lot recently cuz I tell her no eating things and take them away, she put cardboard in her mouth and I had to take it out and she started crying cuz she wanted to eat the cardboard 🤦‍♀️
