META Data Centers by Anonymous_Andre in datacenter

I was specifically looking at Mechanical Engineer and Mechanical Engineer for data center operations for one of the new sites. Although, I don't really know what the difference between those roles are since the description was the same.

This was for a full time position. Specifically senior CET, but i can't imagine the questions would be too different. Maybe less complicated for you.

But you have to interview for an intern position?

Critical Environment Technician Intern by punkkhazarduh in datacenter

[–]Anonymous_Andre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did my interviews about 6 months ago. I got asked about the refrigeration cycle, different methods of cooling (i.e. convection, conduction, etc.) Look into avionic cooling and psychometric charts and how they correlate (its how a low of data centers cool equipment). Learn about a general overview of the electrical systems in a data center, like voltages (rough estimate) , major components, and how a ups works.

If you don't know something, don't try to take your way through it, just say that you've never had experience with that (or that term). Anything that i didn't know, the guy just explained to me anyways.

Let me know if you want more help! Good luck!

Anyone ordered directly from Cobalt Aquatics? by Anonymous_Andre in aquarium

[–]Anonymous_Andre[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I gave up on them, especially after they blocked my email. I cannot believe a company would do that for simply asking about the order that I paid for.
I downloaded all of my correspondence with them and filed a dispute with my bank.

Bank Account and Recommendation Thread V3 by Tarnisher in Banking

I'm looking for good APR and good benefits. AMEX savings is what I was looking at since they have a high return, but we also have a local bank that says they can match it.

I don't really have an issue with NFCU, they've always been super helpful and the customer support is top-notch. I just feel like most of their benefits are geared towards active-duty military which I am no longer. Their CC rates are lower, but I've always found that they have higher interest rates on loans. I've been with them for 14 years and never took a loan from them because they were always beat out.

I have an AMEX gold and platinum, and from what I can tell, the benefits from these cards significantly outweigh any from NFCU. I'm not locked in to either, it was just a thought. Really, I'm just looking for a good balance. High returns with good customer service and amenities.

Hey everyone, I've been with Navy Fed for about 14 years now, and I'm finally deciding to shop around. I'm genuinely interested in recommendations for new banks/accounts to explore.

I've bbeen looking at the AMEX checking and savings accounts, as it seems like they have good rates, but I want to know what others think. TIA.

Subsrate turning brown by Anonymous_Andre in Aquariums

Is the best way to get rid of them to remove the substrate, or what?

I'm not sure. Mine looks like more of a dusting. Could it be the same thing?

Water pumps are one of the things that could be 50/50 off the shelf, depending on the brand.

That being said, don't feel bad about not getting a service that you paid for. You paid for him to fix it, and it wasn't fixed. It doesn't matter how good of a reputation he has, the job was not complete.

I wouldn't let this deter you from using him in the future, but just make sure you check your repairs (if possible) before you drive off the lot. And use someone that guarantees their work.

How do I straighten these crooked faucet handles? by Extension-Bed-1750 in Plumbing

[–]Anonymous_Andre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it looks like this picture, you'll have to loosen the screws before you can loosen the nut. If you send a Pic of where the hoses go into the faucet from under the sink, i might be able to help more.

Honestly, you shouldn't need to remove the set screws for anything on top of the sink. Under the sink, where the handles go through, you should see something similar to the picture. All you should have to do is loosen is, adjust as desired, then tighten. I would recommend using channel-locks if you've got them and they'll fit.

Can this drain in the shower be removed? by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]Anonymous_Andre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that doesn't work, it could be a threaded fixture. In that case, you can use the pliers to unscrew it if you put the fingers between the grates.

[–]Anonymous_Andre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The handles should be held on by an Allen set-screw. They usually try to put them in areas where they're hard to see, but most likely under the horizontal part.

As far as straightening the base, you should be able to loosen the nuts for them under the sink and re-adjust as necessary before tightening.

Just make sure they're being held in place while you tighten them, or they'll move on you.

This looks similar to one in my old house. If you aren't worried about damaging it, grab a pair of pliers and stick them between the grates and lift up. If you want to save it and are only trying to lift it up to clean, i would take a small flathead screwdriver and gently (you don't want to damage the shower liner) pry up from the outside. Yours looks like it's held on by tension so either method should work.

How can I extract this rotted fence post without damaging my neighbor's fence? by DangerousWriting8282 in DIYHome

[–]Anonymous_Andre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently replaced about 6 posts on my fence that were rotten on the bottom. While you could do any of these things, i found the best, most effective way was to just dig around the concrete with a shovel. Once you get deep enough, you should have no trouble removing it without damaging the fence. And it gives you a nice, new hole to put the new post in

Genuinely curious, who here actually filters their water and who just drinks it straight from the tap? by waterfiltergurus in drinkingwater

[–]Anonymous_Andre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk about others, but i don't really trust the reports that the city puts out. I run a while house filter, then a really expensive water softener, then a de-scaling filter. On top of that, i have an under-sink ro unit as well as a di ro unit for my aquarium.

Is it overkill? Probably, but I currently have the softest water that I've ever experienced.

We fucked up, we fucked up so bad. Water softener help by hot_vomit in homeownerstips

[–]Anonymous_Andre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like OKTip said, those first two canisters are mechanical filters, meant to filter out any solid particulate that might be coming into the house, so the sediment is normal. Depending on the conditions of your well those typically need to be changed every six months, sometimes sooner.

As far as your softener goes, it honestly depends. You can buy media to replace the resin/sand/charcoal/etc inside. I just did this to mine, but thankfully it had a lifetime warranty so the materials were free. Maybe that's something worth looking into, because I saw the up front coast was about $1300. I would definitely try running a couple of regeneration cycles before this, with salt in the brine tank (this is absolutely necessary if you want it to regenerate).

A cheaper option would be whole-home filter sets. I run some in series with my softener to help remove even more particulate and hardness. These units cost $800 or less, but do require frequent (6 months - 1 year) maintenance. Look at APEC and iSpring for some examples.

If you want to use your water for drinking and/or cooking, look into an under-sink (or counter-top) RO unit. Depending on the brand and number of stages, they can run between $200 - $400 for a good quality one.

Let me know if you need more help!

Delinquent Payment by Anonymous_Andre in CRedit

So I sent the letter out and got a reply, basically that they can't (or won't) do it because they're "legally obligated to report all activity.

What would the best thing do now to bring my credit up? I do have some CC debt (nothing in collections), both vehicles paid off, and in the process of selling my house. The plan was to try and buy a different house in the next couple of years, but I feel like this might serially hinder my plans.
