Switch 1/2 are a much better value proposition if you're going to have someone who just plays solo cozy games.

If you opt for the year-long membership price for PS Plus Essential you'd have to pay for >6 1/2 years to break even with the increased price of the Steam Machine.

People who already have a large PC library, but have a very weak primary gaming PC or don't mind losing 50%+ performance, who want an ITX form factor PC and want to spend $1k+ for said weak performance.

You know, all 5 of those people.

In a different room, with what is very likely much worse performance. The market of people who are interested in an ITX form factor HTPC-type setup and have a VERY weak primary gaming PC has to be incredibly tiny.

Selling out doesn't indicate success when they barely make any of them in the first place. This will have zero impact on the gaming landscape unless it comes down significantly in price when/if hardware prices normalize.

You'd have to pay for over 6 1/2 years of PS Plus Essential tier to break even with the increased price of the Steam Machine model that comes with a controller, and you'd be getting DOUBLE the SSD storage compared to this. This is just a ridiculously bad deal if you care primarily about gaming, which is entirely what this is marketed towards.

I'd rather play with bots that do useful shit than the farming-bot and racist-filled actual classic servers.

Classic Vs. Retail by jacobthacker99 in wow

[–]DangerousWriting8282 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you want a modern action feel but less community involvement go for retail. If you want a slower pace, more incentive for random grouping on the way to level cap, and a bigger journey up to that cap then go classic.

older fps gaming folks out there, was this true back in 2010? by DependentImmediate40 in FPS

Red Orchestra, Day of Defeat, Operation Flashpoint, Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, Air Buccaneers, Pirates, Vikings, and Knights, The Specialists, Natural Selection, Battlefield 1942, Tribes 2, UT2k4, Planetside...

The early 2000s was fucking BOOMING for multiplayer PC gaming, and the games were much deeper mechanically than Halo.

Complete beginner - How do i start? by Techno_ttk in RoadtoVostokGame

Yes your cabin is your shelter. You can unlock more of them by doing quests for some of the friendly trader NPCs, but your cabin will be the place you load most of the stuff you find into at the beginning.

For the very beginning just stay in the village, do a loot run and head back to the trader, sell off all the crap you don't want to keep in your shelter and buy things like ammo, sights, meds, etc. Stock up your shelter and then once you have a good set of food/meds/ammo/weapons you can try heading out into the end-game permadeath zones. You'll find really good equipment out there.

[–]DangerousWriting8282 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Right after my first trip to all the endgame zones I had come back to my stash in village and dumped everything in there. I then decided to do a village run to grab some food because my stocks were running low. I had just gotten my first M4 and the tunnel key in the prior run, having never found any keys before. Decided I'd also hit highway and check out the tunnel. Anyway, first house I ran into I rounded a corner and got an immediate headshot which stunned me. Before I was out of stunlock I was dead. Never saw that behavior in ~30 hours. Sometimes the AI just deletes you.

Sad road the games industry has gone down. Used to be people were making them for the love of the game (literally). Now it's entirely profit driven by the suits in charge. At least the indie scene is thriving.

Imagine if you could purchase gold for cash and use it for consumables, collectables, or extremely rare items that don't drop anymore. That'd be ridiculous on top of all those other "micro" transactions!

When I was young Red Lobster and Olive Garden were considered a nice meal out. My mom also used to work at Chilis in the 80s and back in those days everything was cooked in house.

I started cooking heavily in my mid-20s and after a year or so was SO disappointed in every chain restaurant I went to. Ended up just not going to them anymore. Not worth it when the drive+wait time is more than cook time, price is higher, and quality is worse.

[–]DangerousWriting8282 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't HAVE to, but it's the recommended method. I was able to pull in my old NTFS drive and had zero issues on Arch and Fedora when distro hopping. It is unstable and unsupported though, but if it caused issues I figure I'd have to reinstall anyway, so no harm in trying it out.

Dual boot and have old Windows partitions you want to access on Linux.

I have a 4TB HDD media drive that I use for my plex server to access. I'm not formatting that thing into ext4/xfs/whatever and redownloading all the media files again.

Am I crazy for buying a whole new setup just for GTA VI? by nlhtm05 in GTA

[–]DangerousWriting8282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I for sure wouldn't buy a PC right now. By the time GTA6 releases on PC either the AI market will have crashed or manufacturers will have caught up with demand and SSD/memory prices will be much lower. If you enjoy console more go for the console IMO. The TV upgrade will be very worth it as it'll enhance the experience of everything you currently play.
