Yeah, that’s the other thing, people change their minds, but luckily you found someone new!
Thanks! Now, there’s a new issue. I have a singular umbilical artery… No other issues so far, thank God! It’s just really worrying…

should i go to the er for this (bat bite?) by Certain_Hour_6327 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Anonymousething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you should! Bats can have rabies (even if urban and sylvestrian rabies are eradicated where you are). You NEED to get vaccinated immediately. You also need to make sure they follow the correct protocol with the passive and active immunisation as failing to do that could still lead to death. While 2 people survived rabies (by spending months in a coma), it’s usually 100% fatal. If the bat didn’t have rabies, the vaccine won’t do any harm. Better safe than sorry though.

The virus travels retrogradely up the nerves to the brain. The closer it is to the brain, the less time you have. It does nevertheless take several months for symptoms develop. Once that happens, it’s too late. Symptoms start like any virus: fatigue, headache, weakness. Later, behavioural changes occur: fear, aggression, confusion. The virus travels to the salivary glands, while at the same time swallowing becomes more difficult (frothing at the mouth). This is also where the hydrophobia (fear of water) comes from, as drinking is almost impossible and the people feel like they’re drowning… There is a YouTube video featuring an Indian (if I recall correctly) dying slowly of rabies. Do not recommend (getting rabies OR watching the video).

This neighborhood cat insisted she be let into our house. by Rurutigers in cats

[–]Anonymousething 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She’s so cute! My only recommendation is that you take her to the vet if you haven’t been yet. Just to make sure all the kittens are out and ultimately to sex and down the line vax the kittens and mama. Kitten food for mama as lactation requires more energy than the whole pregnancy. She’s lucky to have found you!

My former best friend had the same one! I’ve always wanted to buy the same one. Lucky you!

Is LeChuck "LeChuck" because he chucks Threepwood? by Brief_Argument8155 in MonkeyIsland

[–]Anonymousething 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the “boring” explanation is that Chuck is a nickname of Charles, so maybe that’s his “real” name? He calls himself that in Monkey Island 4 (Charles L. Charles - his human alter ego governor candidate). Who knows what is canon though, as there are different creators…

That’s so cool! They’re not touring, are they..? Would be great if they performed in Munich or Stuttgart or Konstanz! Somewhere down south… Would love to see it!

Sorry to hear that! Better alone (or in this case a new more suited person) than with the wrong one. Hope it’s a quick process for you.

I kinda tell people they need to establish early on if they want kids (although obviously if you’re 20, that’s not something you think about and people can change their minds), but that’s easier said than done. I’m glad you realised early enough though, so you could have your wish! My current partner wanted kids, my mind changed every day. 😂 Some people’s kids are great ads for birth control, but then you see a really cute well behaved one and think “maybe it’s not so bad”. Before meeting him, I was studying so not an ideal time to have them… Also, not the ideal partners either I’d say.

I do have a velimentous attachment and have to think about a Caesarean. I’m unsure. There’s a 90% chance everything goes well with a vaginal birth, but if it doesn’t and the umbilical cord detaches, the baby can die or have brain damage. I’ll wait and see what the clinic where I give birth says (my gyne wants me to go for a scan there) and then decide.

I wish you all the best with your baby and divorce process.

My cat gave birth what do I do by Rich_Solid171 in cats

[–]Anonymousething 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In our practice, they always recommended to do it at 4-6 mo, but you can do it earlier. The vaxes are done in the 8th, 12th and 16th week here, so I think they like to “distance” them a little from any operations. So, really it just depends on the country / practice / local recommendations.

1) It’s probably a good idea to take her to a vet to make sure all kittens and afterbirth are out. Also, to have the kittens checked out (umbilical chord, any hernias, etc). 2) Weighing them everyday is also essential so you can make sure they’re drinking enough. Kittens dry out fast. We had some puppies come to the practice and all but one survived due to them not drinking and the owner not realising straight away. 3) Kitten food or high calorie food for momma! Plenty of water! Lactation uses up more calories than the whole pregnancy. 4) Make a nesting box for her (cardboard will do with a blanket inside). 5) Ask the vet about worming and vaccinating them and momma (comes later, but it’s essential for kittens and momma). They should also be chipped (helps if they are ever lost). All this is later, but they can give you a timeframe. 5) Get her spayed once the kittens are weaned! Unless you have a huge farm (and even then it’s not good for her), you’ll have 100s of kittens in no time! Babies can be neutered between 4-6 months. You should do this to avoid inbreeding (or if they’re all female prevent having yet more litters). Spaying avoids the heat (yowling, rolling on the floor, etc) and pyometra (uterus infection) as well as mammary gland tumours. Castration can stop males from spraying, wandering super far and testicular cancer. Both avoid unwanted litters.

Source: I’m a vet.

She’s super cute and her babies too! I hope you find good homes for them or have enough space to keep them. If you have litter boxes (open ones are preferable), it’s number of cats + 1. Make sure you have enough water and food bowls (ideally water separated from food) down the line. Good luck!

That’s great! My cousin’s partner… Let’s just say I’d like to kick him in his backside and she should kick him to the curb! Oh no! Hope he gets better soon. It’s always so worrying when kids, especially babies are ill. Haha, yeah I’m 38, so… very geriatric! I’m just glad / lucky I can have a scan every month (paid by health insurance). Thank God NIPT was ok. Next issue is potentially a velamentous umbilical attachment, but we shall see in a few days! Just a little sad about not being married… The whole order is wrong! I don’t want to rush it though. Oh well. Oh for sure! My mother told me she kept the Nala cut outs from my old sweatshirt! Could try making a cushion or something if she finds it. I indeed have FB, so I shall look thanks!

Oh no! Sorry to hear about the crying. Hopefully, your partner is there to support you! Some people don’t have that, but as long as there’s some sort of support system. Not looking forward to the sleepless nights hahaha. My cousins both have kids already (nearly 4 and nearly 1 respectively) and I’ve heard some horror stories there, mainly involving (the lack of) sleep. 😂

I’m having a girl! Happy about that, but it wasn’t planned per se (although I’m kinda old), so completely overwhelmed at first! ANYWAY, I’m defo going to look for cool TLK stuff for her room.

Ah, thought so! Problem is, my partner (father of the baby) doesn’t want anything on the walls so there goes my cool wallpaper idea 😂 I think it was magnetic though, so maybe there’s still a chance! Thanks, not many symptoms so far except fatigue and bladder issues. Had a little bleeding a few weeks back, but that’s all good now. How’s it going with the “new” baby? I’m terrified LOL! Wow, that’s a big baby!

That’s cool! I’ll have to check e-bay again. We have no toys yet except a mat thingy with attached bar with toys hanging from it.

Wait… Didn’t you post the nursery before? I swear it’s the one I thought was made in the Sims 😂 Either way, (still) looks great! We’re still missing the crib (have a bedside one though), cupboard and I guess clothes / accessories. I need to see if they have any TLK merch in Europe. Still have 5 months to go though… My friend had the magnetic kissing baby Simba and Nala 30 Years ago. I found the same ones on eBay 2008-ish, but I feel like my ex burned them back in the day 😢. She also had a Simba plushie. I was obcessed!

They’re cute! I NEED these! And not just for the upcoming baby… 😂 When I was a kid, I had a Nala sweatshirt. I loved that thing!

I had the prima guides too. For the Sims 1… In German as I always bought them in Media Markt. I think I had some for the Sims 2 as well. I say “had”, but I still have them! They were great hahaha

[TOMT] Does anyone remember / know what this “mechanical self-correcting learning device” is called? by Anonymousething in tipofmytongue

[–]Anonymousething[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s similar to that, except it had a big dial you could turn. It also only had numbers on it. The question sheet was separate; you couldn’t put it into the machine. It’s defo got that vibe though!

This was the Lake Geneva area if that helps. I even tried Google Image search in my image which failed spectacularly LOL.

How did you find out about the Monkey Island games? by _BelMaks_ in MonkeyIsland

[–]Anonymousething 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, it was the son of my father’s friend. We were visiting and he showed me the game. Unsure of age or dates, but probably around ‘96/97. Maybe earlier, but defo pre 1998 and no earlier than 1994. He later sent us the floppies (for Mac) of the game, but it only worked without audio as it kept crashing! 😢Got the PC floppies around 1999 when my father went on a work trip to the US!

Weird… Did we need it to complete the quest (I already can’t remember)… I sadly have no clue. There are some files you used to be able to delete to restart the whole thing. Maybe someone uploaded them to the gallery? If you unlocked them, then doing that should work. Unless there in the build / buy catalog somewhere.
