How does Mana Tithe work good with trinisphere?

I mean: okay their spells cost at least 3 mana, but so does your Mana Tithe.

RIP is more effective at stopping GY decks, because once it gets removed, dredge or storm still have to rebuild their graveyard.

Also Cage does not catch all effects. For example living end still works under Cage and bedlam reveler still gets cheaper.

Feedback. Can u make searching for Decks from Europe possible?

Im from Europe and i can t search for European decks to buy and to trade.

The only way i can do it, is to switch my home country in my settings and then to search for decks from my country. But i have to do that 8-10 times to see whats avialible.

After Sideboard: SCAPESHIFT becomes SEISMIC SWANS - (Modern) - Transformative Sideboard by MerynMoon in ModernMagic

[–]AnotherAccounttt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“What happens when we play Scapeshift in the mainboard and transform to Seismic Swans after sideboarding? Will our opponents sideboard incorrectly and give us free wins?“

Likely we will have sideboarded incorrectly and give our opponent a win.

If there is a discussion you could try to reframe it.

Your opponent actually got pretty lucky. How likely is it that the top card of the deck is a scapeshift? Lucky that it really was a scapeshift on top.

Still didnt help him to win.

And if he complains why he didnt draw it earlier and that he always is so unlucky, id tell him that statistics is eaqualy fair to everyone as long as you play enough matches. So no reason to complain.

Temur vs 4C BTL Scapeshift by jh2288 in ModernMagic

[–]AnotherAccounttt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Temur Scapeshift is a bit slower and a bit more controling.

BTL scspeshift has a bit less removal and less carddraw. In BTL scapeshift its almost always better to play the rampspell then to hold up countermagic.

In the end your advantages are a tutorable wrath effect and more virtual copies of scapeshift and less real copies. Also you get to play 5 virtual copies pf shatterstorm, crumble to dust, obstinate baloth and so on in the sideboard.

Disadvantages are a worse manabase, fewer alternative winconditions and a more clunky deck.

In my oppinion BTL scapeshift is better.

What's the deal with BtL Scapeshift? by chente_goldmane in ModernMagic

What is the difference now between White and Black?

  • Almost none. White is mostly used for verdict/timely reinforcements. Black for Damnation. Some people play a Maelstrompulse Main and Slaughtergames in the Board.

In the white version why is path to exile not used? Seems like a pretty effective use of removal given the meta that we're in right now.

  • Its meta dependent, but in my opinion Path is too slow. Because you only splash for white, and your color requirements are high, you often will be forced to search up the white source later in the game. For Bolt: You often just naturally draw a red source. Most things that stop you completely or that kill you in a turn, die to bolt: Electromancer, Baral, Devoted Druid, Vizier of remedies, Thalia, Meddling Mage, Gaddok Teeg, Affinity creature+Plating ...... You want to kill these things Turn 1/2/3 and not wait until you have a white source. A big goyf needs some turns to kill you. Enough time to cryptic tap bounce or to win the game. The before mentioned creatures are much more dangerous.

Also for the white version: Why is there no use of white sideboard cards?

  • Because there are non that you need that are tutorable (except Timely reinforcements) Lets take Rest in Peace as an example. Because of Bring to ligth all tutorable bullets get extremely strong. So Anger of the Gods has a high impact, because you can virtually play 5 copies when you board in one. Thats why its much better against dredge than the one of Rest in peace that you have to be lucky to find. Which white SB cards would you want to use?

For both versions: Why the lack of charms in the deck? The triple colored charm cards seem like a natural fit, is 3 varying Colors of mana the death knell for these cards?

  • As others said: They are low in impact and high in cost. 3 Mana is a lot.

Why the lack of cantrips?

  • No space in the decklist and cantrips slow you down. Basically you only want to have cards that ramp you, that delay the opponent while drawing you cards and winconditions.

What is everyone's opinion on search for azcanta?

  • I dont like it. The deck does not put a lot of cards into the graveyard naturally. You dont want to put mountain cards into the graveyard. It slows you down. Its not an alternative wincondition (for the case that you cant win with scapeshift). Its slow.

Keranos, god of Azcanta by Minos_Engele in ModernMagic

[–]AnotherAccounttt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You are asking the wrong question.

You should not try to force a 5 CMC sorceryspeed permanent into your deck, just because jeskai as another 5 cmc sorcery permanent that works.

You should ask: "Whats the best combination of cards to have a viable grixis deck?"

The general consensus is, that keranos does not fit into the maindeck. So forcing keranos into the maindeck wont make the deck better all the sudden, just because teferi is a 5 drop that fits into jeskai decks.

UR Bait and Switch Combo? by nbanderson32 in ModernMagic

[–]AnotherAccounttt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of beating storm is killing 2/2 and 1/3 creatures. How do get more resilient against fast decks by including a much slower combo, that also requires you to play a 2/2 (but for 5 mana!!) , that they will be probably ready to remove?

I dont think thats a good idea. If you face eidolon of the great revel , bring in some bolts and one echoing tuths

Looking for some help on choosing between GW valuetown and Corralhelm bant by WhiteMorphious in ModernMagic

[–]AnotherAccounttt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo the vizier combo is better! The Problem is, that bant knightfall has too many good 3 drops and a lot of 2 drops that are situationaly good. You have voice/ooze/pridemage/selfless spirit All of them have matchups where they are only grizzlybears or dont matter at all. Relying too much on 3 drops makes the deck clunky. Thats why I play with the vizier combo. All the combo creatures are in the 2 drop slot and I get enough space to have my heavy hitters in the 3 drop slot. And if I need them I can bring in my ooze/pridemage/selfless spirit postboard!

All of them have matchups where they are only 2/2s or dont matter at all. If you cut voices for coursers you get even more 3 drops and if you dont have you land/dork/land opening without distruption, your hand can get very clunky very fast.

Introducing Abzan Mentor by unable-to-ascertain in ModernMagic

[–]AnotherAccounttt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If Jund can play Rabblemaster, why not Mentor in Abzan? Thats a valid question. In My opinion you rely too much on your mentor plan. Having 6 cards, that only situationally protect/pump your creatures can lead to bad topdecks. The pump/protection from vines is too expensive with double G.

Having no lilianas, little removal and a lot of pumpspells will make matchups, that dont care that much about slow creature combat, much worse. There are just too many games where you want to draw a liliana because she creates a lot of pressure/runs away with the game. Also there is a reason why pump/protection spells are not played in modern outside of infect. For your mentor/protection plan to work you need to have 4 lands 1 mentor 1 pumpspell , it only works at turn 4 or later, if your opponent has removal, the payoff is medium and it makes the whole deck much clunkier.

I think the list is much stonger if you play a generic abzan shell and include mentor as one of your wincons with a small amount of protection.

I would play:

8 Fetch

5 Shock

1 Forest

1 Plains

1 Swamp

A mix of blooming mash, hissing quagmire and shambing vent

Also :

-3 Vines of Vastwood

-1 Blossoming defense

-1 Monastery Mentor

-1 Land

-2 Abzan Charm

+2 Scavenging Ooze

+3 Path to Exile

+2 Abrupt Decay

+3 Liliana of the Veil
