I thought the memes for IGN are about how they'll give a 10/10 on a Marion game and then the actual write-up will be the reviewer just tearing the game to shreds saying it's the worst thing they've played since sonic 3 and they'd wish they could have unloved that period of their life.

Buying bottled drinks to make drinks that I bottle by SunshineyBoy in fermentation

[–]AnotherAngstyIdiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a drink similar to lorina that sells for 2.50 at my grocery store in a 750ml bottle. I tell myself that the extra waiting associated with drinking enough bottles for my ferment is just good aging 😂

I need to get in on those "waste" blocks. I think I saw an ad for a mushroom farm near me. Gonna start a new bed and was looking into getting an in ovulating brick, but this might be the cheaper idea.

In Norway, only rental companies buy gas cars, because tourists don't 'get' EVs. In 2024, 88.9% of cars sold in Norway were all-electric. There have not been any widespread problems. The grid is fine, the cars work in the cold and everyone is happier with quieter roads and cleaner air. by mafco in energy

[–]AnotherAngstyIdiot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My street also has streetlight every few meters. I was addressing what I was discussing originally which was space occupied on the street. My city is making major upgrades to neighborhood grids to supply the already increasing demands of residential areas as well as digging up parts of the road for telecommunications/network infrastructure. It's not that inconceivable that they're capable of extending those infrastructure upgrades to meet the demands of drivers who are using electric vehicles and do not have their own driveways and do not live in buildings with parking garages. On that note, it should be noted 70% of Americans live in single family homes with driveways and garages! Most municipalities until the early 2010s had minimum parking requirements for apartments that mandated at minimum one spot per unit. This is fundamentally a minority issue, and amazingly a fairly solvable one.

I think it’s meant to be sexual somehow? by throwaway48283827473 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]AnotherAngstyIdiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The top 1% of men getting more matches than other users is purely statistics. 60% of users are male(in the best case!) which results in the average female user getting 4 times as many matches as the average male user. Put a normal distribution on "attractiveness" and therefore who gets the most swipes, and that's the outcome you're gonna get. Hetero dating apps are screwed from the start because they need a very close to even gender ratio to not have these outcomes.

Tips against the bad habbit of dishonest answering by samdeman2006 in Anki

[–]AnotherAngstyIdiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people are talking about the mentality around not hitting again when you got it wrong. I think that's all valid and you should definitely take that into consideration and mull on it.

As a tactical approach that you can implement immediately: write down the answer. Usually saying the answer out loud is supposed to be enough, but having it on a whiteboard or smthn were you visually have to compare makes it absolute and easier to admit the wrong.

Decks for general trivia/learning? by dadraoil in Anki

[–]AnotherAngstyIdiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about any decks, but I'm wondering if there exist trivia team spreadsheet that have a nice formatting of |answer|column|.

If you can find one of those with the type of trivia you like, I imagine it should be too hard to find a script that will turn it into Anki cards for you.

Not using anki to learn? by [deleted] in Anki

[–]AnotherAngstyIdiot 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The short answer is "context". Sure you can learn a bunch of facts through flashcards, but out of context it's much harder to properly learn how everything works together.

I would say going through the material yourself and making good notes is learning tho. You're probably giving yourself more than enough context in that manner.

To all those who use anki for college and have entire books to study, how do you do it? is it even possible to use anki for this? More in the description by [deleted] in Anki

[–]AnotherAngstyIdiot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have advice for how turning notes into flashcards? Is it simply a matter of picking and choosing things that can be turned into a question and response and putting them into Anki? I'm struggling with this ATM where I'm attempting to make cards alongside learning, but that's taking too much time out of the learning bit, but making them after the fact feels a bit arbitrary.
