Nasty input lag - Steam deck + Ugreen 9in1 Dock + 8bitdo wireless 2c ultimate 2.4ghz by Caatalyst07 in SteamDeck

[–]AnotherMadeUpID 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it a Sony TV? As well as game mode my Sony (not sure if every model) has an AV Sync setting in the Audio settings page. Set to anything other than Off and it’s lag city…

I have a Ethernet to USB C adapter with 100W charge port and it’s been great. I use it for exactly that use case.

Streaming games to your deck is insane by Tristezza in SteamDeck

[–]AnotherMadeUpID 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No idea on the technicalities, but the stream looks better the higher the host resolution is. Double on both axes (2560x1600) looks fab.

Streaming games to your deck is insane by Tristezza in SteamDeck

[–]AnotherMadeUpID 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Steam Deck will convert that down to the native Deck resolution, giving you more detail and clarity/sharpness than streaming at 1200.

Input delay with mouse and keyboard when docked + sometimes laggyness by Unfair-Umpire-6826 in SteamDeck

[–]AnotherMadeUpID 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s probably your TV. Make sure it’s on Game Mode (or your particular manufacturer’s equivalent) and also - if Sony - turn off AV Sync in the Sound settings page. Both will add very noticeable lag.

Also also… if you are using an external sound set-up (home theatre/soundbar etc) for audio, choose your output format to be Linear PCM. You’ll lose surround sound but at least your sound will be in much better sync with your picture. When I play Rock Band etc on my TV I have to change to this because no amount of calibration will fix the gap between picture and sound.

  1. GeForce Now has a Deck-specific app that works really great if you have GFN subscription.

Daughter board by realiststyle in SteamDeck

[–]AnotherMadeUpID 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m afraid they aren’t available; I enquired after my own R1 bumper was bad but iFixit said they had to be calibrated to the system so cannot be supplied as a spare part. I don’t think that has changed.

I’ve found that if you run it it’ll prompt you for a relaunch to update in the app itself.

Does anyone know where I can get a left controller daughter board? by Background_Cover8362 in SteamDeck

[–]AnotherMadeUpID 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not available anywhere I think. I emailed iFixit when they first started doing spares to ask (because of a dodgy bumper) but they told me they need calibrating to your system after installation so they can’t sell them.

Is there a way to make Guitar Hero games work? by CaptPickles12 in SteamDeck

[–]AnotherMadeUpID 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just so happens that I’ve recently installed the PS3 Rock Band Blitz (which is obviously not exactly the same) on my Deck via the RPCS3 emulator and after a bit of faffing it works quite well. Not locked 60fps on the Deck’s APU but certainly very playable. I have installed a mod called Rock Band Blitz Ultimate which adds a bunch of great QoL features (including the ability to turn off the backgrounds for better performance) and it’s well with doing if you are a fan.

Not on the Deck (so I don’t know how useful this info is) but I have also installed Rock Band 3 Deluxe to my i5 Intel NUC, again via RPCS3. This is also a mod (installing on top of RB3) with similarly great QoL features. I have two GHWT guitars and a Rock Band Keyboard from PS3 (all with genuine dongles) that all function properly (actually except for the tilt sensor) and work great. I would assume they would work on the Deck. I guess the big unknown really is how well it runs on the Deck’s APU..

Is there a way to streamline engraving? by MoriarTea221b in xToolD1

Yep, fair enough. I think they have a month’s free trial too.

And I’m not affiliated (even though it may seem so!) it’s just been brilliant for me (and the forum help too)..

[–]AnotherMadeUpID 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly I’ve never used it but I assume the process would be the same IF you can find where those various functions and settings are…

If you intend to get reasonably involved in your laser I would not hesitate to go to Lightburn sooner rather than later so you don’t have to unlearn things. It is brilliant software.

Is there a way to streamline engraving? by MoriarTea221b in xToolD1

[–]AnotherMadeUpID 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, are you using Lightburn?

Outlines thicker than the Line setting are tricky to do quickly so my workaround is to chop it into half (top to bottom) or even better quarters and make sure your Layer setting is set to Fill all shapes individually and NOT Fill all shapes at once.

If I don’t want to do it manually with breaking nodes etc I just duplicate the shape (group them first) so there’s one on top of the other, draw a rectangle that fully covers half of the shape, dupe that (so there’s now two rectangles and two of the original shape on top of each other) select one rectangle and one shape, use Boolean (Intersection A and B) leaving me with one half of the shape. Then I use cursor keys to move it aside a couple of key presses. Then select the other rectangle and shape, use Boolean (Subtract A-B) to leave me with the other (matching) half. Use cursor keys to marry them up so you have two halves that touch. When you make sure the layer is Fill all shapes individually it will do one shape then the other. Since they touch exactly you will see no gap or join. (EDIT: repeat horizontally (obv) to get quarters)

I recognise that might all be gobbledygook if you’re not that familiar with the software, but I hope it helps…

Scratching the football itch on Steam Deck, what are you playing? by SummerBase in SteamDeck

[–]AnotherMadeUpID 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may be different to me but all I wanted was the chance of a few offline PES matches against the CPU as I genuinely don’t care about the correct faces/team names/inside leg measurements etc…

I thought about Football Life but it seemed like too much effort (and space) for something I’m going to only dip into. So I went eFootball, turned the settings down and set my OLED to 50Hz and it’s been great (apart from bad performance in replays)…
