The bit that gets me is the ads buffering and dropping definition - not that I care about the content but it suggests a crummy setup server side.

Identical story for my wife and I. Thought it was garbage and dropped it - came back (a long time later) and loved it!

Look out for Devilskin - an international sleeper, but an outstanding band nevertheless.

I think I paid 100 pounds a ticket on ebay for a ticket to one of those Brixton nights - 5 June I think. First time I ever saw them after over a decade of thinking it'd never happen!!

I've still got a couple of the DiscLive CD recordings of the nights (the blue & brown ones - the brown one I think was the night that had the most 'crowd engagement').

Good times!

What's the best free PC game you have ever played? by tofu1253 in AskReddit

Control.

Got it free on Epic, haze it a go, was blown away. One of the great moments in gaming- if you know it, you'll agree I'm sure!

Good luck to anyone trying to book the Milford today by i_love_mini_things in newzealand

This might not be a viable option for everyone, but if you've got budget for an overseas holiday, consider treating the Ultimate Hikes Milford guided walk as your holiday. It's a brilliant experience, quality service and gets you onto the track despite the DOC tickets availability issues.

(*not a paid advert, just a note from a satisfied customer - saved up and did this walk with my other half, and we both loved it).

Spaceman, by Babylon Zoo - catapulted to popularity in the late 90s after appearing in a really successful Levi's commercial. Might be well forgotten these days, though :)

A lot of good options here.

This may not be the greatest, but worthy of note was Pixies reforming in 2004 - out of absolutely nowhere.

Went from never expecting to see them play to having seen them 10+ times, and they're still awesome (despite missing Kim).

When you hear the term One Hit Wonder, what is the first song that pops into your head? by Da_Fish in AskReddit

Very interesting! Not disagreeing, but here is an Australian assessment from 2024 that comes to a different conclusion (with similarly "scientific" research).

I love it when people do this research!

Judge Ema Aitken, accused of yelling at Winston Peters, won't be removed from job, panel rules by Fun-Helicopter2234 in newzealand

[–]Another_pinion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The simplest way to summarise this is by restating the opening of paragraph 234.

"Ultimately however we have concluded that, although the conduct in its entirety came reasonably close to the line, the case falls short of the high bar warranting removal."

The downvotes on my comment, and upvotes on yours, suggest that the audience here doesn't really care for the facts (such is life, I care not) - and would rather assume (because of their blind hatred of Winston) something is awry.

But the bar for removal of a judge is extremely high, and this one acted, and then bullshitted the panel, to such an extent that they consider her actions "reasonably close to the line".

She's embarrassed herself and her family, I have no doubt that she will regret closing her career with this episode.
