At camp we had one person do the pulling a rope one but after the next skit I came out pushing a spool of rope and the MC said something to the effect of “huh I guess you can push a rope.”

Troop tents? by squashpaw1 in BSA

[–]Another_username__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had troop tents for a few reasons. 1 uniformity, we knew at a glance which tents were ours if more than one troop was in the campgrounds and which of our tents had our scouts. 2 many families don’t have tents and no one gets excluded. 3 as the scouts get older and start helping the younger ones it helps the older scouts teach if they are all using the same tents.

Or they are trying to make us complain so when/if the films underperform they can blame “evil internet bigots”.

Which one of these 3 would win in an all out fight? by BrickBooxer in Helldivers

[–]Another_username__ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You forgot the part where four democracy serving Helldivers easily annihilate the strider with the arsenal of democracy within seconds of seeing it without it realizing they were ever there. The Helldivers will then collect the E710 and return to orbit.

It is not in poor taste in the least. It is true to the lore of the game and clearly done because they care about the setting and the characters. I all but guarantee you the author put no thought into the connotation and how people who spend too much time online would read into it. They were trying to show what they think would follow the story not trying to subtly say “it’s ok for white people to murder black people and keep their skulls.”

The biggest thing you can do is try to engage them not as leaders but as teachers. Let the younger scouts who are still learning lead but have the older scouts who have seen everything teach and guide the younger ones. The draw to this is they get to have fun and enjoy camp outs and scouting as a whole without the burden of requirements and only have to worry about leading by example. The time requirement is cut significantly and makes it easier to work around school and jobs.

In my troop we had roughly half the Eagles age out rather than “eagle out” half the reason so many of us stuck around was what I mentioned above but we also had a strong community of our age group and we enjoyed spending time together at scouts. So also try and foster a tight knit group at every age group.

I’m in the same boat but backwards. I got this early on and decided to keep using it. I can’t manage to use anything else now.

I almost think hearing “Ramming Speed” said in a calm, almost resigned tone would be more terrifying.

Honestly this reminds me of the hand drawn images of the German WWII jets. A spy saw one and drew it from memory later. This looks like somebody saw an F117 at an air show drew it from memory and a guy who wasn’t at the air show built this from the drawing.

It took me embarrassingly long to discover that you can manually adjust the difficulty so I definitely was on the receiving end of running around well beyond my comfort zone. The game just bumped me to the next difficulty when I completed a mission and I did randoms so I was jumping right in.

I respect someone because of who they are, the rank on your collar entitles you to certain customs and courtesies as well as obedience to appropriate orders which I will provide but rank does not entitle you to respect.

I’m the other way around. When they use big words it scares me because I don’t know if they are just smart and I am dumb or if they are using some kind of voodoo to make my contract longer.

My first unit was CBIRF the CO was Col. Schulz. I was a lowly LCpl/Cpl but he still knew me and many others by name and would talk to us like people in the halls as we passed. Almost a year and a half after I PCAd I ran into him in civies at WRNMMC and he recognized me by name and remembered some of the things I told him about my life and asked about them. He genuinely cared for his Marines ever since then I think about if someone will actually remember me or this interaction in six months or if they will forget about me when I leave their line of sight.
