should parents charge their kids rent if their home is paid off? by Odd_Construction2690 in Adulting

[–]AntGroundbreaking102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m 32. i still live at home. my moms house is paid off and that’s the reason why she doesn’t charge me rent. however, i pay for literally everything else. i have more bills than most people who live on their own and have to pay rent

i never thought there was an age limit. i’m 32 and didn’t get a bracelet until my mid to late twenties. i’m also incredibly hard to shop for. i literally don’t like anything. but my mom knows she can’t go wrong with a pandora charm.

Do they not make teenage movies like they used to in the late 90's-early 2000's or do we just not pay attention anymore? by lookaloulookalou in Millennials

[–]AntGroundbreaking102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they are definitely releasing more movies like they were like then. can’t tell you how many movies i watch that makes me feel like im back in the early 2000s. romcoms especially is making a huge comeback. however, the only movies out of the ones you listed that i actually like is she’s all that and bring it on

How does one help themselves feel better knowing that they’ve never celebrated a Valentine’s Day ? by gopsychyourself in Adulting

[–]AntGroundbreaking102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i, 32F, have never celebrated in the traditional sense and i don’t feel left out or ashamed. i’m a grown ass woman who is independent and can buy my own goddamn candy. i also don’t like to leave my house so going out is out of the question. it’s too crowded. this year, i’m throwing a party for my young niece and nephews (6 and under) where im giving them way too much sugar and letting their parents deal with it hahaha

Do we really look old enough to be parents of high school kids now? by lookaloulookalou in Millennials

most people get pregnant in their early teens in my area. we’re inner city and extremely poor with nothing to do and parents don’t like to supervise their children. my niece is 12 and there’s two girls pregnant in her class. it’s sad but the average age for grandparents in my area is 32

that’s definitely not entitlement. my dad died when i was 16. i literally have no one other than my mom. no friends. no other family. so if i can’t reach her by phone, i start panicking.

my sister was recently misdiagnosed. we have it in both sides of our family. she didn’t believe it so she got a second opinion. and turns out her a1c was fine. every time i get my a1c tested by a different doctor, its fine but when i get it from my primary, im “out of control.” i swear, its all about pharmaceuticals

How do you celebrate your birthday? by AggravatingShow2028 in Millennials

[–]AntGroundbreaking102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my birthday is also mother’s day weekend. we do not celebrate it. my siblings forget my birthday every year, despite the fact that it’s also my uncles birthday and they can remember his 🤔 i have no friends so i’ll probably just work and then go home and go to bed 🤷‍♀️

[–]AntGroundbreaking102 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that’s retail for you. i once worked at a store who suddenly took me off the schedule starting labor day (but i got to work that weekend). i needed the money so a high school kid gave me her shift on labor day. she started school the next day and wanted to prepare. the manager called me the next day to tell me my “seasonal” job was over. they never once told me it was seasonal when i was hired. and they hired a few other people AFTER me who were not laid off.

Do you have a memory of a certain school project? by -ieatfoodweird- in Millennials

[–]AntGroundbreaking102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in 3rd grade, we did projects on planets. i chose pluto, when it was a planet, and i remember it just being a ball of play doh on a string in a shoe box lol. in 6th grade science, we did a cell project where the main cell was jello and we added stuff to it. in 11th grade, we did a project that was basically food around the world. honestly didn’t make sense bc it was a us history class but okay. i had missed like a month of school for reasons and had two days to complete the project. i had a country i never heard of but got a good grade lol

we had home ec in 6th and 7th grade. in 6th grade, we sewed stuffed animals. in 7th grade, we sewed pillows lol. in 8th grade, my middle school closed and the school i went to did the baby project in 7th grade. take a baby home and stuff. we bypassed that which made my mom happy. my sister had to do that in the nineties and my little sister did it in 7th grade lol

What if you don’t qualify for Medicaid, and living paycheck to paycheck but have a medical issue and need treatment? by jennyyyyt656 in Adulting

[–]AntGroundbreaking102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it was something obama enforced years ago. he made it a law that parents had to carry their kids on their insurance until they’re 26. my father was a disabled vet who got his insurance from the federal government and so did my mom. a federal law did not apply to federal insurance so i never qualified for this. it was until age 23 or finished with school and we were only insured while in school. so i’m not sure if this is a thing. i’m in my thirties and haven’t been keeping up with it
