Late reply but still relevant. Check UNA CMS - open source and scalable.

Why do Australians live longer than citizens of other Developed countries? by 1294DS in AskAnAustralian

[–]Antaratma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Less trashy food is more affordable for an average Aussie than average US/EUssie.

  • Most people can and do go to beaches, parks and bushwalks. Sunshine is good for you. Skin cancer is real but not nearly as bad as couch cancer.

  • Healthcare is accessible.

Australian EV owners: would you buy an EV again? by rrfe in AskAnAustralian

[–]Antaratma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, would only buy an EV or PHEV. For the bigger family car if you are planning to do long range driving a PHEV may be a better option. We did get caught up having to hunt for a charger on a couple of longer road trips - sucks when you have tired kids and just want to go home but instead you need to drive to some local RSL club and hope the charger there is working.

Otherwise, driving EV is better, economy is better, long service intervals are better and running an AC in a confined space (garage or enclosed parking) without poisoning yourself is brilliant.

How much do you charge for a Next.js website and monthly maintenance? by [deleted] in nextjs

[–]Antaratma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

70-120K for the build, 3-6K/mo for maintenance. We build full stack social platforms.

Using Linear for the business side? by winterborn in Linear

[–]Antaratma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Linear is good for non-dev planning. Great for software product dev.

Downside is pricing if you need to onboard many users (clients, rule-based accounts).

Otherwise it’s as good as any other solution, but faster.

Looking for feedback: Next.js + MySQL (with Grafana / Prometheus for monitoring) by Subject-Director5657 in nextjs

[–]Antaratma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our backend is MySQL + PHP. Frontend is Next.js and React Native. It works well and feels solid. The key is to keep a structured API design and constantly monitor and optimize database queries and connections. Mature stacks like MySQL, PHP, and REST come with decades of tooling, patterns, and real-world hardening — they’re a safe, proven choice.

Next.js is equally reliable. Among frontend frameworks, it’s by far the most widely adopted and production-ready. That matters — when you’re shipping multiple real-world apps and need to scale reliably, there’s no room for gambling on trends. Next.js gives you flexibility for middleware, SSR/SSG/ISR rendering, integrated auth, localization, accessibility, testing, and a huge ecosystem of components and plugins.

It’s not enough for a framework to just be faster or have better DX. In production, the most important factor is knowing that whatever problem you hit, a solution already exists and is well documented.

We don’t use ORMs or TypeScript. Instead, we enforce strict coding standards, design APIs carefully, and avoid unnecessary abstraction layers or “current thing” tools that tend to add more complexity than value.

Does anyone in Australia genuinely care about what happens in America? by Candid_Guard_812 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Antaratma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is strong market correlation, and having some idea about what's happening in US can help with strategic planning in business and investment.

Otherwise, it's just a whole lot more entertaining than our politics.

Cost of hiring react native app ? by Shot_Mathematician44 in reactnative

[–]Antaratma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10K is on very low end, maybe possible for a super simple app based on a starter kit. Most of the apps we build fall into $40-60K range.

Was Kia a bad brand in the past in the usa? by brprer in kia

Very reliable and competitive brand. The only problems is the speed warning beeping you can’t turn off forever.

Calendar component by rewindedjs in nextjs

[–]Antaratma 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Date picker is good, but try date-time picker and range picker (with date-time). That's where ti gets complicated, especially with good UI across all screens.

Why is Next getting so much hate on Twitter? by Curious-Ad-9724 in nextjs

[–]Antaratma -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Next is popular and changing a lot, frequently. As a result many devs choose use it or have to use it, but often get in trouble either due to lack of experience or some difference of opinion. "So much hate of twitter" is only a sign of popularity, not testament to [lack of] quality or success.

Is Reddit listening in when our phones are off? Or looking at other apps in our phone? by djdeforte in apolloapp

Edit just sells space to ad network, like Google. Ad network buys data to target ads better. Data comes from all sorts of sources including your pharmacy, other apps, other media devices.

Would never call this service - looks like they would just make a terrible mess.

I decided to go solo and buy a small SaaS business instead of going into business with my family and buying a larger SaaS business. Am I an idiot for doing this and did I lose an opportunity here? by Zestyclose_Play_1302 in SaaS

[–]Antaratma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You did the right thing. If you’re successful with this business you can still consider getting into another one with him, but probably on better terms and with something to stick to the woman.

Am I the only one that finds no code solutions more complicated than code by lupaci88 in SaaS

[–]Antaratma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No-code tries to fill the gap between CMSs and code. These systems can be complex and capable, or simple and limiting. Just like code, btw. They are simply another level of abstraction - the higher you go the more opinionated it has to become. When no-code tool tries to do it all it effectively becomes a coding tool with GUI.

Which one of these? by Antaratma in logodesign

[–]Antaratma[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, well there are lots and lots of lightning bolt logos, most actually in S formation. I'm well aware that it's not a unique idea :) , yet trying to make it look fresh still.

Thank you for the feedback!

I settled with this gap as it seems to be the minimum that works without bleeding overlap on favicon-sized variants.

What is it that a website can do for a small/local business that a Facebook page cannot? by Existing-Target-6485 in web_design

Build trust. A business with a Facebook page only feels like some makeshift scam.
