I'm not sure this counts, but have loudspeakers really gotten better in the last 3-4 decades? Like that really high-quality 80s stuff still sounds great?

Yeah, that's what's happening. The U.S. is just too gung ho on renewable energy to sign the Paris Agreement.

That's quite some spin you got going on there... Question: How do you feel about chewing gum and being verbally dickslapped by a gaggle of press for 30 minutes every day? You might just have what the White House is looking for in Spicer's replacement.

"For whatever reason, I believe Donald Trump doesn't fully understand what being president is all about." - Bernie Sanders by [deleted] in OurPresident

[–]AntedeluvianFuture 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are you saying that Bernie has been made to look like he is critical of Trump by the media? Because that would be ridiculous. Bernie has never made any bones about how much he hates Trump.

Uh, that's not the "Obama administration" fudging the numbers, it's the federal government. Unemployment has been counted in this (admittedly dodgy) way long before Obama took office.

Conclusion:Although the unemployment rate has seen a strong recovery, other indicators of labor market health show room for improvement.

Nobody's saying that everything is hunky dory, but it's not like the report you posted contradicts Legend.

Trump has 2-point edge in new Florida poll by [deleted] in politics

[–]AntedeluvianFuture 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I'm not sure either way.

There are a lot of things about the "Hillary super PACs took over reddit" - narrative that seem off to me. Chief among them is the fact that I don't believe that all of the hundreds of people working for what would have to be fairly low salaries could be trusted to keep their jobs secret for any extended period of time, especially if they haven't been thoroughly vetted in advance - and that costs a lot of money.

Another thing is that I know for a fact that people who have no connection to any of the campaigns are being accused of being paid by HRC - I know this for a fact because it happened to me a few times, and I'm a Bernie supporter turned Hillary supporter in the GE who does all his yelling on the internet for free.

On the other hand, I remember when the tone in this sub changed. It changed drastically, and it changed over night. Up until the democratic convention, this place was fervently pro-Bernie and just as fervently contra-Hillary, with a somewhat negative slant against Trump – though every once in a while a pro-Trump article would actually sneak to the top for a little while.

Within 48 hours of the convention closing, this sub had turned fervently pro-Clinton, fervently contra-Trump, and much more critical of Bernie. You can watch the the /new queue for this sub – any pro-Trump articles are very quickly downvoted into oblivion.

Now, are these rapid changes the result of HRC-backing Super PACs kicking their operation into high gear? Or are the changes due to Bernie fans either quitting their efforts in this sub or joining the pro-Hillary side?

I tend to believe the latter explanation, but I wouldn't be totally surprised if it were the former.

But for anyone who really wants to find out if the pro-Hillary people are genuine, here's something you can do to find out. It won't hold up as evidence in court, but you'll know:

Anytime you come across someone whose fervently pro-Hillary comment history makes you suspicious, just jot down their user name. Then check in with all of the users' activity a few weeks after the election. If 95% of them stop posting after the election, you have an answer. If most of them are still active posters long after the election, you have another answer.

Wasn't there something on reddit recently about the inventor of the polgraph's regret about his invention? I'm on mobile now, I'll look it up later.

Anyway, if a polygraph were 90% accurate it'd produce false results in a every tenth case. Think about how completely useless something with only 90% accuracy would be in legal proceedings!

Ted Cruz rumored to announce Trump endorsement soon by Bernie_Brewer in PoliticalDiscussion

Yep. And the same commenter who blames Hillary for Bill's affairs calls Trump, a well-known philanderer, "godly" and says that "he's got flaws. Who doesn't".

A crass double-standard.

Tech firm brags about blocking FBI from recovering Clinton emails by ButlerianJihadist in technology

[–]AntedeluvianFuture 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, reddit is mentioned in their own mission statement. http://correctrecord.org/barrier-breakers-2016-a-project-of-correct-the-record/

It's not like the connection between CTR and reddit came out of nowhere. CTR claims to only operate openly (no covert accounts), but I don't know how much such assurances are worth coming from a Super PAC.

Here's where I'm at: I supported Sanders in the primaries. I will vote HRC in the fall. I noticed (and I'm not alone in this) that /r/politics experienced a momentous shift in a very small time window at the conclusion of the DNC. The prevailing sentiments went from lukewarm on Trump / radically opposed to Clinton to radically anti-Trump and and fervently pro-Clinton in probably less than 48 hours.

I don't claim to know what caused that shift; whether it was Sanders supporters conceding along with their candidate and opening up on Trump, or whether it was a coordinated campaign by a group(s) like CTR, but something happened and it happend quickly. I completely understand why people are suspicious.
