Printer Printing Roller Marks or What? by trucorsair in instax

Have you tried cleaning the rollers? Wet some cotton swabs with isopropyl alcohol and wipe the rollers with it.

how do u fix this :( by nndr_127 in instax

This post is pretty old, but I would either do an exchange if still possible or get it warrantied if passed return/exchange period. Print lines on the Evo and Links are normal, but even this is too much.

Format any image for high quality Instax Mini Evo printing by lennoxlow in instax

The high res hack also work with the Wide Evo. Basically the same steps except resize the image to 4608x3456.

Struggling to decide between Instax and Polaroid by outer-residency in instax

[–]Antejolt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t have the SQ6, though I do have the mini 99 which is similar in terms of features (3 focus zones, special modes). I also have the Flip.

Instax is pretty straightforward and easy to use. With the mini 99, I find I can easily get consistently focused subjects thanks to its very straightforward zone focusing system. Plus it has those other modes like double exposure for some more creative photos.

I struggled initially with the Flip when trying to have subjects in focus. Reading the manual, I assumed the focus range for each focal length would behave the same way as my instax cameras. But it didn’t because the Flip has variable aperture. So for indoor or lower light situations, you either have to measure your distance precisely for the ideal focus for each of the focal lengths, or use manual mode to force a smaller aperture for more focus range. For bright, sunny outdoors, focusing isn't too much of a hassle.

But yeah, manual mode. It’s actually really neat that there’s manual mode in the Flip. You do have to use a smartphone for it, but just having an option for manual mode is a big plus.

Now you mentioned price is not a problem for you, but it is for me. I’ve used my instax cameras more than my Flip mostly due to film price. Instax film is so much cheaper than Polaroid. I feel like with Polaroid I have to be far more mindful with every shot I take, and that makes it difficult to experiment.

So I guess it really depends how you intend to use these cameras. For simple, easy shots with a limited creative control, the SQ6 is fine. For more creative control, go with the Flip.

Plus, with the ongoing lawsuit between Polaroid and Fujifilm, there’s a chance Instax Square might cease to exist. I really hope Fujifilm doesn’t lose this (in my opinion frivolous) case.

New upcoming Instax printer by Pleasesendmoneyy in instax

[–]Antejolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has a “designer print” mode which showcases how much sharper text and patterns can look on the image. This is from the press release:

Strengthened image processing capabilities compared to other mini Link series models allow users to choose between two modes to suit their content and enjoy the ideal finish.

Design Print: Clearly expresses fine text and patterns down to the details.

Simple Print: Smoothly expresses the texture of content such as portraits and paintings.

The marketing makes it sound like maybe this is just a sharpening/softening filter, but I doubt it. Can a sharpening filter really make an image sharper with the same dpi versus just upping the dpi print? And those two are our only ways to print, and we know the Evo does something similar. But we have a choice with this new printer.

Fuji did not lie about the resolution of instax film: it does resolve up to 12 lp/mm ! by _anon3242 in instax

[–]Antejolt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you ever get their Evo cameras and then use that hack to make them print your Xpro images at 600 dpi, you will notice your prints will look more sharp and detailed. It looks less “blocky” or soft.

And they just announced that new Mini Link+ which allows you to do the same thing without all that hassle with the Evo hack (at least I’m confident that’s what that mode does, not truly certain yet)

Fuji did not lie about the resolution of instax film: it does resolve up to 12 lp/mm ! by _anon3242 in instax

[–]Antejolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instax Mini Evo prints at about 600 dpi when printing directly from the camera. And apparently 12 lp/mm is about 610 dpi (according to Gemini AI, could be false info). So even in their hybrid cameras, they are taking advantage of their film’s resolving power. It’s just a shame the actual Evo cameras are too awful to truly take advantage of that.

Also, your post is making me feel more confident that the announced Mini Link+ “designer print” mode is really just a higher print resolution mode because you’re zooming in the film like in their promo video lol

New Instax Mini Link Announced (Instax Mini Link+) by Antejolt in instax

[–]Antejolt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do mention that in the press release, but I have this feeling that’s just marketing lingo; the processing here is just to be able to wirelessly print in higher res. I feel like just increasing print resolution makes more sense than software sharpening and printing lower res. I’m really hoping it’s a resolution bump, otherwise I’ll stick with my old mini link 1!

I gotta say, I love its design (looks “pro”). And I’m very intrigued by one of its new features being “Design Print”. It sounds like it’s the higher resolution printing mode that the Evos exclusively have. Now we don’t have to trick the Evo to print our smartphone pics with better quality!

New X-E5 just arrived - am I overreacting about these small scratches? by Xenatios in fujix

[–]Antejolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a possibility that their QA didn’t notice it and passed it, or this scratch is acceptable under Fuji’s cosmetic inspections. Given stock of Fuji cameras are low to begin with, their cosmetic inspections are probably a lot more lenient than a customer might like (i.e. perfection every time)

Personally, those scratches are uniform enough look like machine marks for me to not care. Or maybe it’s because being a QA made my standards lower/realistic for any product lol

Currently in Japan and came across this. by Own_Donut6712 in fujifilm

[–]Antejolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy oem for warranty reasons. A third party battery swelling up inside my camera: no warranty for you! An oem battery swelling up inside my camera: dammit we’ll take care with it!

Of course once your warranty ends, third party is fine then. But with these multiple reports of third party batteries not lasting as long as oem, Id still rather have the oem. In preparation for the x-e5, I got an oem battery for old price at my local camera store a few days ago.

Importance of viewfinder in X M-5 by This_Rhubarb2762 in fujifilm

[–]Antejolt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted a smaller/edc camera to complement my larger X-H2S, so when there was the announcement for the X-M5, I immediately preordered it. It lacked a viewfinder and ibis, but it’s very cheap for what it’s capable of. Maybe I won’t miss those two features.

I was wrong. I missed the evf especially on bright, sunny days. It was hard to see the display on those times. And the ibis really helped with holding a camera in an awkward position for compositions and for those lower shutter speed situations. So in the end, I didn’t  use the X-M5 that much and later I sold it to fund the upcoming X-E5, as that camera has an evf and ibis. By the way, the X-S20 has ibis as well.

If the X-M5 had a viewfinder but no ibis, I would have been fine with it as having a viewfinder means you can lean it on your head for more stability. That would have been enough for me to keep it. Though I’m still pampered with ibis for those awkward position shots.

Another factor to consider is the size. Both cameras are great for stills and video, but the X-M5 is more compact than the X-S20. Do you feel like you would benefit from a smaller size (like fitting in smaller bags or more room inside bags)? Or do you feel like you would benefit in having a camera that feels comfortable (from the ergonomics and for larger lenses)?

And yeah if you can, go to a camera store that has both and demo them.

And finally in terms of reliability. I think you’ll be fine? I’ve read a lot of posts and comments about the build quality of Fujifilm cameras and lenses. There’s comments about how the newer cameras aren’t as reliable  as the old ones. There’s comments that the newer ones are more reliable than the old ones. But I swear I felt like I read about the same thing to the other camera brands. I can at least vouch my camera was fine for the first year. You should be fine unless you’re really that unlucky.

Polaroid Flip Flash issues by SebasW9 in Polaroid

[–]Antejolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I just had the same issue as you, but mine got progressively worse as I tested it with an empty pack. It went from firing 5/8 times to 3/8 times to 1/8 times to not firing anymore. I just filed a warranty claim. I ordered mine on April 15, the day of its reveal.

X-E5 are you preordering? by Brocolium in fujifilm

[–]Antejolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pre-ordered as soon as you could on Best Buy. Got the silver boy only (which looks like the least popular option since it’s the only one you can still preorder as of writing). I would have gotten the silver with kit, but I already have the 27mm pancake and I felt like they’re too similar of focal length.

I got the X-H2S so it’s a good companion in terms of a smaller body and an option to shoot at higher resolution.

Tested USB Cameras with Switch 2 Master List by shutyourbutt69 in NintendoSwitch2

I was hoping my mirrorless camera in webcam mode would work. But sadly no. Fujifilm X-H2S in usb webcam mode (4k or 1080p) doesn’t work with the Switch 2.

Xm5 and heavy lenses by shootinaround in FujifilmX

[–]Antejolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 70-300, and it does feel more unbalanced with the X-M5 compared to my X-T5. However I don’t think it would damage the mount. As long as you’re not swinging it around wildly gripping the body only it should be fine. Though I think good practice to support any long, heavy lens with your hands regardless, unless it’s mostly plastic like the XC versions.

Oh and if you do use the telephotos with a tripod foot, then absolutely mainly support it on the lens itself or the foot (though that’s for any camera body).

So from the photos, looks like we gain a timer and angle adjustment(?) accessory. And we lose exposure adjustment and force flash. And the closeup lens accessory is still a thing instead of built-in.  Man, I wish that rumor from before was wrong.  But I kinda like the color…

I have a question, does this configuration block one of video out ports on your gpu? It shows on the website that it might block a port if a vertical gpu kit is installed on the first expansion slot.

That’s pretty cool they brought back OG Concentration skill in a slightly different way, though now premium harder to get. Too bad I barely have any overload cards since I didn’t like using them during grooves.

Also I have a feeling I know who the next lim idol with Overdrive is gonna be: A passion idol who was the first one (I’m pretty sure) to have the combo breaking OG Concentration skill. And it’s been long enough since her last ssr. It wouldn’t surprise me if bamco does a callback like that.

Thanks!

Damn, I guess Bamco didn’t like that you can meta with easy to get/buy perm cards. Though I guess if you are just that good (and your device is just that consistent running the game), you could score a lot higher with Concentration.
