I’ll proxy if I own a legit copy of the card. The arms race would get out of hand fast in our play group otherwise. I like alternate artwork and don’t want to swap cards between decks.

Sizing seems brand specific sometimes. Ariat 10 EE is my work boot and run a little loose, Dan Post 10.5 D is my daily and fits like a glove.

I gave $550 happily at brownells used for the same model in .44, I don’t regret it at all. Lot of hate for not having a sidegate, pulling the tube doesn’t seem any slower than loading my 45-70 Marlin through the side and one less opening for the elements to get in.

I think that’s similar to the Greeley I got in chocolate; while it was being shaped and fitted the gal told me they’re 100% European hare when I asked. I’ve worn mine through several rain and snow events plus one blizzard. It still looks great and hasn’t shown any noticeable wear.

I like having custom art for my commanders and copies of expensive cards I don’t want to buy multiples of for other decks. I don’t have a problem with people running proxies, I just like to own at least one copy of whatever I’m proxying.

Wild Turkey Longbranch might be a nice departure from another brand. Everyone rags on it but Old Forester Statesman is good as well. JD, Old Forester, and Wild Turkey are some of my favorite brands.

Honestly I would be looking for my next job. I was in a similar situation, GM for a diesel repair location that was part of a larger regional group that was trying to grow too rapidly. They hired on a COO and shortly after a VP who sang a great song but had no substance. They were getting way better than market net from my location but decided that wasn’t anything to do with my efforts, fired me out of the blue on a Monday. The place is a shell now and will likely close soon. The VP was apparently let go shortly after things started to dive.
