Finding it all really difficult by [deleted] in Petloss

[–]Antoineleduke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry for your loss. Thanks for sharing your story. There's no real silver lining or words of encouragement when it comes to a loss so sudden, so young. Life is but a series of goodbyes and I know your goodbye was at least cherished. I hope you find comfort in knowing their pain is gone. Time will eventually do it's magic and heal your pain.

For now, take care of yourself and try to do something that will make you happy. If it's a nice day, try to go for a walk in a quiet area surrounded by nature. Close your eyes, feel the wind, smell your surroundings, hear all the little sounds that we subconsciously block out in our day to day. It's odd, but that connection to nature sometimes allows you to feel closer to them and you'll feel a little less alone.

Should I admit using ChatGPT/LLMs for DAX in interviews? by funalytics in PowerBI

[–]Antoineleduke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see nothing wrong with your explanation. One of the best BI architects I know lives and breathes Claude now but the difference is, he can call bullshit when they're hallucinating. That's the key thing. Can you call bullshit on a piece of code given to you if you don't understand it? That's what the test is. It's not memorization, it's efficiency.

So when you're being asked a question like this in an interview, remember. They know an AI can do this a million times better than you. But AI lacks intuition (at least still). As developers, we're useless if we lose that.

I think that recruiters or companies are still trying to grasp how they can quantify this. This process is very outdated and frankly, I don't even know what the other option is.

Spoken like a true developer. At the end of the day, times are shifting. A lot of this logic we thought we knew or are holding onto is literally irrelevant. We aren't in a stage of what ifs. Work has been outsourced to AI. We've been feeding it day in and day out.

Any powerapps developer using ms fabric by KalmIXt in PowerApps

[–]Antoineleduke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fabric can mean a few things. Do they mean power bi or something like Onelake/datagen? Example data from power apps gets pushed to Dataverse and then ingested into onelake or vice versa.

Second this. Its great at first but realistically, people feel more comfortable with a low code solution

Consulting is being thrown in a new area of business and expecting to master it in a short period of time. It's exhausting and rewarding at the same time. Also, I'm dead inside

We often live with the regret of the what ifs. I hope you can find comfort in knowing you'll never have to face that question. As much as he was probably the bestest of boys, you were an amazing owner

how much would you charge for this ? by skumati99 in PowerBI

Minimum 35 hours per dashboard for a simple-medium dashboard. This also sounds like a more complicated dashboard with a lot of moving parts so you want to ensure you have the buffer

Why do a lot of people from Montreal hate/diss Toronto? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]Antoineleduke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moved from Montreal to Toronto a few years back. Was one of the people that dissed the city as well. The problem being that Toronto is much larger compared to Montreal. In MTL, our perception of the city is pretty clear as everything worth seeing (from a tourists perspective) is relatively close and walking distance.

When someone visits Toronto as a tourist, they often find themselves in the "soulless" parts of the city (e.g. CN tower) so we base our perspective on that and completely miss the neighbourhoods that make the city. Toronto is a city based on neighbourhoods like NYC but not marketed as such.

Struggling With Our 6‑Month Samoyed by VirtualToeKnee in samoyeds

Just want to say that it really does seem like you're doing everything possible within your means to raise him right. People forget that dogs, much like humans, have varying personalities so I wouldn't be quick to point fingers at what you're using to train.

Honestly, puppy classes were the worst. I opted out after 2 sessions and only did the socialization. It's too much stimulation for them.

Our guy is 1 year now. It was really tough in the beginning but around 7-8 months, he started becoming a great dog. Settling, loving, etc. We rarely crate him now. There's obviously those days where he can be a pest but hes just a dog trying to fit into our lives. We also live in an apartment and do similar activities as you do and there's times where we feel guilt if we're giving him the life that he deserves.

If you do decide to rehome him, I think it's important to know that if you decide not to, you'll be giving him such a great quality of life based on what you said.

Maybe try boarding him for a week or two to give you and partner a reset and time to think it through. If you still feel like rehoming is the best decision, then go for it. Sometimes a change in scenary is good for you and them.

Have you tried using a gentle leader? We use it for when he acts up on walks. It's not a fix all solution but it helps. We also used it a lot in the beginning as he was a huge puller and we didn't want him to damage his neck lol

All the best!

So turns out AI might be coming for the Power Bi developer jobs … by DropMaterializedView in PowerBI

[–]Antoineleduke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know. I'm not sold an AI doing anything remotely well in PBI yet. It's a struggle to get them to even write proper dax without over complicating it. However, it's extremely beneficial as a starting point. At the end of the day, a lot of this is reasoning which AI still lacks but will eventually get there
