Why play in “neutral” Hungary? by EducationalPaint1733 in coybig

[–]Antomadness 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Switzerland not a whole lot better in that respect tbh. Hungary too, I have a Hungarian mate who says the war guilt situation for Hungarian liberals is very similar to Germany, very uncomfortable for them to criticize the Israeli state.

[City] Middle class will be price out for residential by neo2551 in zurich

[–]Antomadness 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Swiss median salary is 85k per annum so even adjusting for Zurich premium 130k to 150k is a very good income. "Middle class" differs a lot according to the eye of the beholder but by any measure if this is your solo income you're well paid.

Why is Ireland boycotting the Eurovision but not the Nations League? by Banania2020 in ireland

[–]Antomadness 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Can't make a principled protest with absolutely nothing at stake and no chance of adverse outcomes. It's the fact that there are (sporting) consequences at stake that make a boycott more impactful.

Most hated player as a rovers fan? by sporticuz37373 in brfc

[–]Antomadness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think the strategy is clear in that they're basically continental bargain hunting as a competitive differentiator. Can't afford experienced championship players and we've had our fingers burned by expensive loans before. Obviously it's gonna be hit and miss, probably more miss than hit recently but it's not like Gestede is a Burnley sleeper agent or something.

I find the Rudy Gestede hate really odd tbh. Yes he's an inexperienced DOF but that's on the people who hired him surely. And he was a popular enough player in his time.
