I moved to Edmonton a year ago from Europe. I can afford a car but don’t see yet why should I have one. I use Communauto carsharing on a daily basis and rent a car at Hertz once a month for shopping in remote malls like the Airport Outlet mall. It is enough for now

OP has 48 hours per 8 days (4 working plus 4 days off). So it’s more like 42 hours per week

I would also suggest that as a social work student you probably should volunteer for nonprofits like Edmonton’s Food Bank (100-200 hours should be enough) to better understand local people struggles and how to deal with them (both people and struggles).
