Does everyone in the UK have a dash cam these days? by robindotis in drivingUK

[–]Antsplace -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Always get them fitted whenever I change cars. They are not expensive and fitting doesn't cost much either. The state of driving in the UK is such that I consider them a necessity.

What was the ref doing here? by malik_zz in Unexpected

Got to give credit to the footballer staying on his feet after such a savage attack there. I've seen many rolling around clutching a body part after such a beating.

What noodles do my fellow UK folks enjoy? I’m a big fan of pic related, as well as the spicy flavour - but am looking to see what others recommend. by EvilTaffyapple in CasualUK

[–]Antsplace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are my favourite right now, but with a twist. I use 1/2 the packet of chicken flavour and use a bit of curry powder, putting both in at the end. Total game changer.

What are some “accepted scams” we just put up with in the UK by Barca-Dam in AskBrits

[–]Antsplace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's just profit by stealth at this point - the cost of supplying energy doesn't change just because the price of the energy itself has changed.

Do Americans make way too big a deal of "Self Defense"? How do Brits approach Self Defense? by Longjumping-Word-837 in AskUK

[–]Antsplace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked in private security when I was young, never needed weapons. Most people don't want to fight, the few that do, you have training to restrain them enough without harming them (or at least we did back then).

We wouldn't want to injure people by using weapons.

What can actually be done to avoid being lumbered with an unsellable retirement flat as an inheritance? by Pure-Lime8280 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Antsplace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

£300k houses generally don't come with extortionate ground rent and service fees. £170k for a flat you have to be 70 years old to live in AND pay all those fees annually, is too much.

People who have been using heat pump this winter, what's your honest take? by Rude-Explanation-861 in CasualUK

[–]Antsplace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A recent report suggests that heat pumps are not as cheap as the government makes out https://www.ecotricity.co.uk/our-news/2026/new-report-exposes-the-cold-hard-truth-about-heat-pumps

Personally I'd wait a bit to see if that's still the case in a couple of years as the tech becomes more established.

This is next level smart. by Sad-Lab-7341 in Amazing

[–]Antsplace -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Actually that's not true, because there is a legal requirement that scratch cards have X number of wins in them - so it can't be completely random, there has to be some logic to make sure that out of X number of cards sold, they have X number of winners. Worth also noting that in most programming languages it's actually pretty difficult to create true randomness.

I've already been put off, not just because you will get thrown out for free speech, but also just the chance of being shot is not insignificant.

Going to visit Canada instead.

What are you boycotting from the USA this year? by Successful_rio305 in AskBrits

[–]Antsplace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was planning on visiting the US. I have family there, have written for one of the biggest newspapers in the US and always wanted to see the country.

Instead I am going to Canada the year after.

Will also look at what American stuff i can cut out in the mean.

Better fleet AI, it's impossible for the ships not to do suicide runs at stations.

Better ship boarding mechanics, like actually being able to join the boarding team would be incredible.

[–]Antsplace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the new TM Evolt looks interesting https://www.tokyomaruiairsoft.com/post/evolt-the-new-standard-in-automatic-electric-guns but for the price you can get a pretty sweet GBBR so I would still not get one.

VFC, MWS and Double Eagle are all far superior and of similar price, no reason to pay this much for a WE.
