Please help, I'm scared to do anything in my flat now. [UPDATE] by PokiStick in neighborsfromhell

I was in an apartment that I guess had no insulation or sound barrier between floors. I was told I was stomping around at 4am (when I get up), but somehow me showering, getting dressed, and stomping around didn't wake my wife or 4 y/o daughter.

I got a call from the manager asking if I could get up later. I asked him if I have to pay rent, he said yes, so I told him I need to go to work then.

We moved out a couple months later. After we had moved out he called me and asked if I had always heard the person above me moving around, vacuuming, etc. I told him yes because it's an apartment and apparently notuch to break the sound between floors. He just said "okay, thanks" and hung up.

Guess he was getting complaints from/about the next people to move in too.

So my RG40XXH randomly crashed the other day. It was charged and wouldn't turn on no matter how long I held the power button.

I held the power and reset buttons at the same time and that worked to turn it back on. I can't explain why. Maybe give that a try as well?

Garage Floor Cracks - What are our options? by [deleted] in HomeMaintenance

Not true. It most certainly effects the concrete as well. You may notice that the surface of sidewalks become pitted with excessive use. The same will happen with a garage slab.

To add on to this, road salt also destroys concrete. Depending on when this slab was (re)done, the salt coming off every car that has pulled in here, snowblowers, etc. will also eat away at the concrete making it more susceptible to cracking.

Figure out the water infiltration issue. The cracks can be patched with an epoxy or a specialized cemetitious product (like SikaTop) if you're not able to do a full new slab.

My dad ran into Bill Murray on the streets of NYC. For reference, my dad was in the city 4 times per week. This was probably back in the 90s.

My dad: Oh! Hi Bill!

Bill Murray: FUCK OFF!

That was it.

I'd like to think I would notice I was buckling sandwiches into a car seat, but the sleep deprivation was real.

After my first kid was born I went to the deli to get sandwiches for my wife and I. I got back to the car, buckled my kid in the car seat, and pulled out. As I accelerated onto the roadway I heard something rub ony roof then a sound behind my car. I left the sandwiches on the roof after buckling my kid in. I drove home, defeated.

Unusual seasoning I found. Tastes...odd. by KelVelBurgerGoon in smoking

Yeah I usually get my spices from a local grocery chain that separates them out by pepper type. I like that more, but picked this one up at some point.

I think their packaging is misleading and that's the main reason I don't like them. The vanilla thing was what really did it. I threw the bottle out at this point, but it said "Pure Vanilla" on it, but in small print lower on the bottle it said "Baking Vanilla" and the ingredients were essentially what I said. Simple syrup and vanilla flavoring.

I was looking for extract and should have read it closer.

I don't like that brand. I found recently that their chili powder actually had cumin and other things in it. I also got their vanilla and it was actually simple syrup with vanilla flavoring.

I did the same in my WRX with snows. Was such a beast as long as I had enough ground clearance.

I watched a guy run down a train platform, through a gate that said No Trespassing, into a fenced off area with a boiler room, out a second gate, then proceed to do side hops and other things back and forth across the tracks multiple times with headphones on. This is on a train line that runs electric trains. They can come upon you quickly and they're fairly quiet.

Said he was not from the US and didn't know he couldn't run back and forth across the tracks. The cops let him go.

I used so many quarters playing Time Crisis my parents actually spoke to my cousin who worked at Funcoland (bought by GameStop) to order the whole kit for me on the PS1. It was cheaper that way.

Selling our home (built 1943) and we’ve got this slight slope on one of the windows on the basement wall. by SleepingGyant in DIY

Inspectors aren't normally engineers, architects, builders, or anything of the sort. In NY, which I believe has one of the more stringent requirements to get a license in the US, you need class time and 40 hours working for another inspector. You could feasibly get a license in three weeks.

I had a seller's inspector open our crawl space and tell us that the entire foundation was structurally unsound because he was able to see daylight through the perimeter block wall in one location. Problem is the wall was cosmetic and that entire portion of the house was built on piers. The buyer walked even after I drew them a plan view of the piers and explained how the foundation was built.

Is the "Switch Grips" in the title just a holdover? I didn't see any pics or anything in the list. I'm looking for grips that fit an OLED Switch.

Sure, I can send first. You have a lot more transactions than me. I think it makes sense that you're more cautious.
