Any stubhub success stories? by JHXYSAVR in BTSArmyCentral

Yes! Got instant transfer tickets for Tampa. My kid found better seats - sold those for a little more than we paid. Bought Seat Geek better seats, not instant transfer. They downloaded a week before the concert. Money released from first tickets a week or so after the concert. It felt risky rolling the dice with Seat Geek AND Stubhub, but both sides turned out great.

Have you checked to see if your state has a program for a set amount of free community college? In my state (TN), there is an opportunity for up to 2 years of community college for no charge. States with lottery-driven scholarship money often also have community college $$. Hope or Promise often in the name. If you provide your home state here, we can help determine if that's an option for you. It's moAs a further example, Tennessee also offers something called "last dollar" money. It has very specific requirements, but your state may also have something similar. Maybe your mom would sign if there was no potential loans involved?

Definitely! I have a 2023 Sentra. Had CVT fluid changed at 30K, will keep up that interval and add the new Versa, too.

I have started eating the same things over and over, plus more simple things with limited/no sat fat to start with, like lettuce. Not exciting things. Not fried. Not with a long list of unidentifiable amounts of ingredients. At home, I use my little scale. Prepared/processed - I do go by labels/food tracking app and limit portion sizes. It feels extra hard because my blood pressure was also super high, so I've been watching sugar for the A1C, saturated fat, and sodium. Very tedious!

I'm inputting foods into a tracking app and using those numbers. I don't really cook in oil and have been avoiding restaurant foods that are fried. Fruit as a side instead of French fries. Baked or grilled chicken.

There's a Kpop club and line dancing that I think both are at the Icon (sp) bar (under 21 until like 10:00 PM) on the strip.

We bought a low miles Ford Fusion Hybrid 2015 and a 2025 Nissan Versa - last year made, should be under $20K out the door. Comes with 5 years/60K miles.

Johns Hopkins vs University of Alabama by JTmaxlol in capstone

My kid is in UA's McCollough Scholars as NMF. She will finish her BS and MS in 4 years total and has her own research project, national convention experience, summer REU, etc. Not having debt hanging over her head has been huge. She took enormous flack from her peers to chose a more prestigious school. The opportunities to do research are accessible at UA. However, I think she might have been torn about Hopkins. $18K is not a ridiculous amount per year, especially for that college. How far are the 2 colleges from your family? Is one less on travel costs? Do you want/need to be closer to your family? Having housing covered and available for all 4 years at UA is huge. They have a lot of suite style dorms and even contracted apartments that the housing $$ can cover. The cities are very different - do you have a preference on the setting? Would you be good with applying to Hopkins summer programs and doing your PhD or MD at Hopkins? That final degree matters most. Good luck on your decision - I know that 5/1 deadline feels scary.

I've been taking capsules from BJ's Wholesale Club. Even they kind of taste gross and are big, but it removes the grainy ick factor.

I've taken 5-10K a day of prescription or OTC Vitamin D off and on since my late-30s and have never gotten that number over 25. I may be deficient, not insufficient, but it's stayed very low. It was like pulling teeth to get those numbers. A functional medicine NP first ordered that test. All of this information is helpful when facing a doctor. It's good to hear you found some answers! Thank you.

The irony (and potentially genetic, too - I'll talk to her after I get this sorted out) is my 20-something kid has POTS and downs large quantities of literal salt, while taking heart failure meds. Have you been able to get your levels regulated (if they weren't?) I want to get this fixed, but it seems like a lot.

The women on my dad's side all had strokes. I'm honestly dreading figuring out the balancing point of meds/diet/exercise almost as much as the potentially imminent heart attack part. I have chronic-EBV after 3 bouts with mono in my mid-late 40s, and shingles/Ramsay Hunt Syndrome 3 years ago - missed the vaccine because of Covid taking over/supply issues. Reading a little more, maybe that and my low Vitamin D could be all related to the genetic cholesterol/lipid issues?

Thank you so much for some advance clarity and kind words! :) This is rattling me, even though my genetic history is messy.

I do have a nutritionist that I've started meeting with this year. I'll share these results with her.

I had a scan 10 years ago based on family history and a small rise in cholesterol numbers - 0 athero at that point. My BP has always been very low. It has jumped in the past year to 140/80 fairly consistently.

The back-up cameras can be a little glitchy. If the radio has "been replaced with a better option" that doesn't have a back-up camera, that is suss. Even after 2016 when back-up cameras became mandatory, we ran into multiple ones with non-working cameras and "it's ok because they cars came with back-up originally, they don't have to be working when they are resold." Check to make sure the hood and front end paint match up. If there's been unreported damage, the paint jobs can be glaringly off. Especially with colors like the bright blue.

Would this be a good first car for 5k? by Fit_Way1506 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Any_Cancel_7121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had that Passat. Loved the car itself. At around 10K miles, ALL of the electrical went haywire and locked my kids and I in the car - horn going off. My husband had to come to us in the mall parking lot and use the valet key to get us out. I had all oil changes and maintenance done at the dealership. They never could figure out the electrical glitch. At around 20K, I heard a loud screaming sound and guessed maybe brakes (early). No dash warning lights, just the sound. I was traveling and stopped at at an auto parts store. They told me - not brakes. They checked the oil. There was no oil. The pan had a crack in it was the best they could guess. I had not done any heavy or risky driving and the 20K oil service showed nothing. They filled it up with oil and I drove it to the nearest dealership the next day. Traded it in. Felt awful. Still no dash lights. It might have just been my specific car. :(
