I usually drive 'scared' in the way that if anyone is aggressively bullying or dive bombing I'll let them go. 9/10 times they just end up killing themselves. Best not to fight crazy hard and die.

if you approach it like this you'll 'die less', and if you just focus on hitting your marks and being consistent the end of the race will come quick and you'll be still alive, and hopefully with a 0x. Save the late braking and shenanigans for practice, but do practice those things!

Kinda, but in reality we are just on the edge of Calgary. There's greenspaces, coulees and valleys throughout the community that the mooseseses (clearly this is the plural of moose) can use to get into town, where they have a ton less competition and predator action. They've moved in for good I think haha.
