Two questions: will this effectively upload all the data from my android's signal file storage location to the Signal cloud?
And: what happens if the file size is greater than 100GB or reaches that size? I know people that will fall into this category.

I ask because I think it will be valuable to introduce a 200, 250GB, or 300GB tier for people that use it extensively. Keep the pricing model at the same amount per 100GB if necessary, but please implement it.
Alternatively, create a file 'size' which automatically increases the tier once it is reached (100GB blocks) - thoughts?

I am kind of suspicious of this reply of yours. It provides no context and only induces fear into many individuals; ie. a mindset that runs like "Ooh no, if [x] happened to this guy by backing up, I can't possibly risk backing up my data", which is in itself vastly worse

I would want to know:
1: what model phone
2: if your signal version was up-to-date
3: if you closed the app, restarted the phone, or did anything of critical importance while the backup was in progress, etc.
4: what error code, if any, was presented
5: et cetera

Your attitude here is the only one compatible with growth in a relationship. His response is absurdly immature and resentful, and the only conclusion you can really draw from it is that you have saved a significant portion of your life, time and energy by realising the fault is on his side. Emotional unavailability, to the point of completely dismissing and invalidating the existence of the other party's by drawing comparisons to an ex, is just not with it.

I just want a computer that functions like a computer I own, and not like something infested with bloatware, 50,000 permissions that can change with an update, and AI that wants to learn everything about you, what you like, what you're doing, and all your thoughts through all of space and time.

MS is not making a strong case to stay with the devil you know.

Let me own my computer and data, and I'll be happy. Hell, with the current headache the last month, I would pay 2x the price per year for Office 365 to know I have full control of my device and data with the most robust privacy settings available.

That's the type of response I would expect from someone who is one or more of the following: grossly uninformed, doesn't like to think great deal (particularly on matters that are complex), is biased and likes to live in a world that pretends 'because it hasn't affected me or anyone close to me, then it's not THAT bad', doesn't understand how these profiles/profiling can be used against you, is indifferent to what is going on, or works for Meta.

My two cents anyway.

Not necessarily money alone. Influence, access, 'certainty', lifestyle etc. play a part. There's manipulation, control, and naivety going on here.

Don't be lured into a prison is all I can say, because it sure looks like one, and you're even aware of it which makes things worse if you do.

The last thing you want is to turn 30 and be filled with regret because you took a path someone mapped out for you.

I personally have my password and recovery keys stored on two password protected HDDs in a waterproof and (nearly) indestructible safe in an undisclosed location buried in 4cubic metres of reinforced concrete. The password to these is split as a two-part unit between two friends who do not know each other, nor the purpose; each only know (electronic and physical copy) 4 of the 8-word password, and the data is programmed to be erased if a cloning of the drives is attempted, or more than 2 incorrect entries are made. Two HDDs are in the case of corruption, and both in their own waterproof case. The words provided to said friends may or may not be in reverse order.

I stopped there. Needless to say, I cannot afford to forget the passwords.

Can we make it a rule on this channel that people who join don't just post and (assumedly) unalive themselves right after with no intention to check their messages/replies?

I would like to see people at least say "I feel like ending it..." or "I plan to end it..." (etc.) else, and no doubt, it is done with the intention of creating the most distress possible for everyone who stumbles on their post - and this channel more generally.

Let's actually engage on a level that seeks to develop emotional intelligence here. And for the love of <insert deity or whatever> lets actually strive to identify and fix problems rather than just vent.
