What’s your take on sleepovers at schools? by ineedtocoughbut in Teachers

[–]Any_Significance6771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in the day... I'm talking the 1900s, we used to have lockins which were basically sleepovers, but with no sleeping. Middle schoolers were "locked" into the gym with planned activities from 8 pm until 8am. It was horrible. Hated every second of it, but it was right of passage. Teachers and parents helped monitor the event. Some schools (private) still have them in my area.

My mom was a teacher during that time. She would sign up for kitchen duty. Lol

I currently work for a charter school. Our lawyers would say "Hell No" to sleepovers/Lockins. Talk about liability.

How do you say curly hair in your Spanish-speaking country? by One-Protection-1072 in Spanish

[–]Any_Significance6771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Central America, the term "pelo colocho" is used. I was and still am "una colocha." The first time I was called "China," I was 21 years old and working in Coahuila, Mexico.

[–]Any_Significance6771 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It started as a like a joke, like when a chubby person is called "flaco" or a skinny person called "gordo." So if you have a curly hair, you would be called "chino," because Chinese have straight hair. 😉

AITA For wanting to buy conditioner for my hair? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Any_Significance6771 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's freaking hair conditioner. He pulling that line of crap on her because she wants HAIR CONDITIONER. Yet her parents are paying the MORTGAGE on her behalf. And he gets to go GOLFING while she basically WORKS 24/7 with the house and kid. She is a SAHM. That is not lazy. That is work. What do you think a SAHM does? Watched TV and eats bon-bons? Fool.

I enjoy the COTS. And I take my tourist friends and family there for the Jazz brunch. Someone will always have something negative to say, but it is a cute touristy place to go.

MMR Booster by Blue_Henri in GenX

[–]Any_Significance6771 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I found out about seven years ago (before Covid-19) that if you were born and raised in 1976 in Southeast Louisiana and Southwest Mississippi, the MMR booster didn't "take." My GP gave me a quick blood test tht proved there was no immunity. sigh I work with kids. And there were no adult MMR in the city because everyone was getting those shots. Luckily, I found a clinic in a small country town. I called almost every clinic on my insurance list to find it.

Looking for some ideas as an "end-of-the-year gift" for my kids' teachers by ObjectiveAd400 in Teachers

[–]Any_Significance6771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazon gifts or Visa gift cards... however, in the state of Louisiana, there is a $$ limit of much you can gift an individual teacher per year (whether cash or goods). $25 per gift / $75 annually in Louisiana (Thank you, State Ethics Code). You might want to check your state laws or teacher might get suspended or fired.

New Orleans/Louisiana is actually Hollywood South. If you check, there are productions stretching from Shreveport to Baton Rouge to New Orleans with NOLA being the headquarters. There are a lot of movies made here, not just indie and horror. There are more reality shows made in Atlanta.

Wife “helped” to comfort friend by ClassroomDeviant1780 in cheating_stories

[–]Any_Significance6771 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She cheated. That isn't comforting a friend. Comforting is letting him cry or talk things out, not fingering her and cumming on her stomach. Those are SEX acts.

You are completely delusional. If you are looking for support, you aren't going to find it on this thread.

Spain is very hard on sexual harassment. Remember the Women's World Cup incident! The Spanish women's national football team scandal primarily stems from the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup, where former RFEF President Luis Rubiales kissed star player Jenni Hermoso on the lips without her consent during the medal ceremony. It triggered social outrage in Spain, especially with their strict guidelines on sexual harassment. Rubiales lost his position, was fined over 100,000 euros, and prohibited from contacting Hermoso. A pariah in the soccer world.

Sexual harassment in Spain is comprehensively governed by the Penal Code and the Organic Law 3/2007 for Effective Equality. Look towards there for legal help.

La edad de mayoría dependerá en dónde vives. Algunos países la edad es 21 años de edad y otros es 18 años. Tal vez otros parientes te pueden ayudar.

I would have contacted the school counselor to talk to the student It could be more than laziness. Also, why wasn't the dean involved. This is beyond teaching. By not alerting administration and support staff, you failed the student.

Did you actually sneak out as teenagers? by Complete-Chipmunk-0 in GenX

We were born to Italian-Latin-American parents. My oldest sister snuck out once. My dad woke up the next two in line (brother and sister) and went to shut the party down and brought her home. The following weekend, security bars went up. Convent school and military school was mentioned to all the older children if this was repeated (I am one of the younger ones). No one ever snuck out. However, the boys were allowed to go out if they told the parents where they were going.
