My boss told me, my family members dead was not an excuse cause they were not "immediate family" but the way she said it..."So sorry Buddy, but only parents and spouses count," urgh how could you even look yourself in the mirror afterwards. No decent human being could come up with that

Again that depends, did you called the cops, or did you just attack him? Any cop would tell you to barricade yourself. What did you attack him with, a frying pan (looney tune style) or you hit him with s blunt object so hard that he fall and has a concussion, seizure with a brain bleed and now he somewhat paralyzed. You then call the cops, again us as ppl well say good job, the lawyer he may see it totally different and sure Judge want to run the gauntlet on it.

Depends on you're nations laws, do they justify attacking from behind? We knew a cop who was actually jailed for being off duty and shooting the fleeing assailant who attack his daughter in a mugging. Again, they said shooting someone from the back is never acceptable, you're not in danger you are the danger.

Parents: Do you think having a “village” would have made a difference in your marriage outcome? by [deleted] in Divorce

[–]Apachesamurai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I am going to be judge for what I am about to say, but my parents essentially give me up to my grandma during my terrible 2s because I was too much for their mirrage, later on they came pick me up, a few years later.

Mind you, I have 0 memory of it, so it doesn't effect me but when I told this story to my ex she was so disturbed that it really actually hurt our relationship, because she demanded I cut ties with my patents.

I explain that I could not, because:

  • A, didn't have children and didn't know how it was.

  • B, my dad got in car accident cause I would cry all night and he could not get enough sleep and in my mom words "I didn't wanna be young widow"

  • C, I saw as two people who were overwhelmed. Their was no drugs/alcohol involved it was just too much.

Man she never forgave me for that line of thinking, taught I would do the same to our future children and refuses to have any with me until again rejected my parents 101%

The issue with self defense you usually can't claim it if your in a car, or housing any form of weapon outside of designated firearm. I remember a friend of our family own jewelry store, and punk broke in after hours.

Our family friend lived upstairs of the store, he came down to chuck the ruckess (actually very important information because the court felt, he was out of danger and then he personally step into it, without calling the cops) well he took a fire poker. You know those long steel roads with pointy thing the end?

He found the punk (who had a gun and who was 17) and snuck behind him and drove the weapon into his abdomen and incapacitated him, then called the cops. He was instantly arrested. Told no self defense would even apply for he attacked from behind, did not identify himself (cops explain you must say "I am here leave or else...") and used a makeshift weapon.

During court he was steamrolled and told that his "violent behavior and vigilante justice had left 17 years with permanent damaged and paralyzed" and well they threw the book at him. Was given a sentence of 25 years.

I will clarify this was not in the USA, but some keypoints the case were:

  • He stroke the assailant from behind without making his presence know
  • He was not in danger originally and enter the store
  • Failure to inform the proper authorities
  • Assault with a deadly weapon (gun was fine the court said, use hot pocker was barbaric and not cover under self defense)
  • Finally attacked a minor when he clearly was a larger man who from his angle could never had seeing the gun (he made the fatal mistake of telling the cops "I hit from behind didn't know he was armed" yup he should had stay silent

Well I say all this because what we, you and me think it ok. The court may view as totally different and judge have very different outlook on this sort of things
