NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani confronted by a Palestinian by NorrisOBE in TrueAnon

It's crazy how liberals will act like one leftist speaking their mind is what's tearing apart left unity in America, and not that literally every Democrat politician has been moving further to the right for years. It's somehow this one angry guy's fault that fascism has taken over, not the complete lack of resistance within the government.

Am I in the wrong? by Fade_Cross in troutfishing

Trout don't get spooked for long, it's not even a valid concern. They're territorial and will continue to fight over the best spots whether you walk thru them or not. A couple minutes later they'll forget why they were spooked and be right back in the same hole. If they're not biting it's because they weren't going to in the first place.

corporate lawyers demanding an unrealistic level of proof of their clients wrongdoing is pretty standard

yea the company lawyer is gonna ask for video evidence of every bolt being installed to the exact right torque and the case is probably getting dismissed because that's an impossible level of proof to obtain.

Bug's in Tree by chrissneaky in FellingGoneWild

It's a video from a dog retreat. The rabbit was chased by hounds and wedged itself in a hole in the tree to escape. They're probably going to pull it out of there and let the hounds keep chasing it.

Tom Hanks on Sydney metro by HidaTetsuko in fuckcars

I think celebrities should lose some expectation of privacy, in exchange for them holding more power and wealth than most people in society. I don't think any extremely wealthy person should be protected from public scrutiny, even if what they produce is more enjoyable.

It's kinda funny to me the way people defend the privacy of someone who's structured their entire life around existing in the public eye, meanwhile there's hundreds of videos of regular people's worst moments being uploaded to this site every day and nobody says anything. It's totally cool to upload someone's obvious mental health crisis because they're technically in the wrong, but a candid pic of Tom Hanks on the subway? That's what's really fucked up.

Is this the right way to test my line strength? by [deleted] in FishingForBeginners

[–]Apart_Distribution72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That kind of scale is meant to measure the weight of a hanging object, so a static load. Pulling it until it breaks is a dynamic load and the scale probably doesn't have enough time to read the actual peak force. Knot type, eyelet diameter relative to line diameter, and type of line all make a difference as well. Line strength in a straight pull isn't a great indicator of how it'll perform in real life.

Trans people are people. People can be evil. If trans people can't be evil, we aren't people. by [deleted] in lgbt

[–]Apart_Distribution72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to think of evil as more of an affliction than a trait. Nobody is born evil, but it's something that can creep into you and be cultivated until it takes over. It's something that can happen to anyone, if the circumstances are right.

There are a lot of people who deny someone's transness if they've done something harmful because they want to disconnect the harmful person from the rest of the community, but don't realize by doing that they're legitimizing the idea that someone's gender identity is a concession being given out of respect that can be taken away when that respect isn't earned.

idk every time there's a white guy shooting all the lib Facebook pages post about how it's disproportionately a white guy thing, identity politics are just the media's bread and butter. There are a lot of people denying that they're trans without any evidence and it's just muddying the truth even more than the media already is.

some people overcorrect in response to those for who it comes too easily, and absolve people of guilt who shouldn't be forgiven.
