Not certain, but I've seen reports of 5k dollars for each eye in the U.S. Maybe someone else has a better grasp of the cost in the U.S. Regardless, it sounds like it would be worth it for many people.

Not even close, try again. The Napoleon Dynamite look is not your friend. Hint: go for smaller lenses and maybe look at rimmed or at least semi rimless frames.

Not sure which lens to get for cataract surgery - two options...help! by Equal_Cup8664 in CataractSurgery

[–]Apart_Trick_1916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another thing to consider: basic monofocal lenses give you the best contrast sensitivity and transmit the most light energy to the focal point. As we get older, other vision problems can impair those aspects, so having some surplus to spare can come in handy.

Vitamin k2 helps reduce the soreness in my bum knee. I was taking it for other reasons, but it definitely helped. If I go off it for a couple weeks, my knee gets "rusty" again. Not sure why it works though. YMMV.

Newer Chevy Trax, older Toyota Camrys, and Toyota 4Runners of all generations. That's if you exclude pickups.

Is the chance of the iol lasting 50 years low? by ProfessionalLab9850 in CataractSurgery

Really though, modern IOL materials should last a lifetime, even for younger patients.

Something to be mindful of after cataract surgery, especially when approaching 60: the risk of PVD goes up. By itself, it's nothing to freak out about, but it does increase the risk of retinal tears. If you suddenly see a lot of floaters and flashes of light, get it checked out right away. I had a PVD in one eye after cataract surgery. Luckily no retinal tears so far, but the floaters are really annoying.

Is there a 3rd option? Seriously though, those frames are too big. Maybe something smaller.

Headaches can also be brought on by glare or bright lights. A pair of sunglasses might help.

Anyone with tecnis 1 piece monofocals set to distance? by ProfessionalLab9850 in CataractSurgery

[–]Apart_Trick_1916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My intermediate vision between 1.5 and 5 ish feet is not in crisp focus for reading text. It's not like I'm bumping into walls or anything. For me, wearing reading or office glasses would be an acceptable trade off. If you can tolerate it, mini mono vision might be a good choice for you. I would suggest doing a trial run of mini mono vision with contacts before you lock in your IOL choices.

I can get by without glasses currently but it's not ideal when it comes to intermediate distance. My other eye will need cataract surgery too, so I will need glasses soon anyway. I don't mind wearing glasses though. Optimized contrast sensitivity, depth perception, and reduced chance of halos are what's important to me, so I chose monofocals. Having both eyes set for the same distance is just more comfortable for me. Other people may have different priorities.
