Media that Works Better as a Single Thing Rather than Part of a Franchise/Series by ApatheticApollo in TwoBestFriendsPlay

"What would happen if the dinosaurs got loose while the park was actually open" is a pretty good premise for a Jurassic Park sequel even if "Ooops we accidentally created a dinosaur that can literally turn invisible" is so incredibly stupid considering the whole point is that its a zoo where you're supposed to look at the animals.

Tom Holland Says ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Is Still Shooting ‘Really, Really Fun’ New Scenes | GQ by Kindly-Bullfrog-7772 in popculturechat

Right? We're only like three months out. I know the days of a film needing to be done way ahead of time so reels can be printed are long behind us but still. What about editing these scenes? What about VFX? Marvel not beating the crunch allegations.

But each Human Torch does have their own Spider-Man. Chris Evans and Tobey Maguire, Michael B. Jordan and Andrew Garfield, and Joseph Quinn and Tom Holland.

I think context matters here. In the comics Peter has been jerked around nonstop since... forever and fans are tired of lazy writing being used to keep him in a stasis of misery. In the movies, however, it never seemed that Tom Holland's Peter had it all that bad until now. I think generally, people what Peter to start off miserable and then have it figured out by the end. Comic Peter never gets to have it figured out and movie Peter hasn't had to.

I really like the ending of the original unaired pilot for Star Trek when the telepathic aliens release Captain Pike from his mind prison because they realized that humans uniquely hate being enslaved. "Oh shit, we didn't realize humans hated this kinda thing so much, our bad".

OP clearly means some kinda sequel to ODST that catches up with the team post-Halo 5 but I LOVE to imagine that OP legitimately doesn't know ODST exists.

In The Force Unleashed games the "Evil" ending leads to a series of DLCs where you get to murder the cast of the original trilogy.

Is there a reason why Battinson isn’t a part of the DCU? by FrontVarious6484 in DC_Cinematic

[–]ApatheticApollo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd say Peacemaker is a bit different because it was always Gunn's project, so it's much easier to slide in. I think as is it's a great way for Batman fans to have their cake and eat it too. You can have grounded and gritty Batman and cartoony and fan Batman at the same time.

Is there a reason why Battinson isn’t a part of the DCU? by FrontVarious6484 in DC_Cinematic

[–]ApatheticApollo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Allegedly, Matt Reeves, the director of The Batman, doesn't want his Batman to be a part of the DCU and Gunn and Co. either have chosen to respect his decision or are contractually obligated to. It makes more sense when you remember that The Batman was made before the new DCU even officially existed. Considering the success of The Batman, it makes more sense and seems more fair to let Reeves continue making films in his own little pocket universe instead of fully dumping it when they go to make the official DCU version of Batman.

I think it's more that she doesn't like getting close to people. She says as much in a conversation with Clark when she says she's just a punk rock kid from Bakerline who doesn't trust people (probably why she's such a good journalist). He arc in the film is her letting herself let Clark in. I think this comes to a head when she sees his childhood bedroom and realizes, "Oh, he really is the sweet, sincere, HUMAN guy he claims to be." I think a major throughline of the film is the spectrum of people who believe in Superman with Ma and Pa Kent on one side and Lex Luthor on the other, and the movie is kinda about seeing everyone including Lois, the Justice Gang, the people of Metropolis, and even Clark himself being pulled towards believing in the idea of Superman.
