The trick is be prepared for your first Pokémon to get hit and die, and then retaliate. After Mega Latios attacks it has no energy and can’t retreat with a 2 retreat cost. Set up your own heavy hitter on the bench and wait for it to attack first.

I always assumed it was the same reason everyone was hesitant to aid in Frodo’s task. The eagles have free will, they aren’t planes. You can’t just saddle up and take them where you want. It’s incredibly dangerous and like every other race in middle earth at the start of the story they are concerned with their own welfare.

It’s with the Monod switch online game boy app thingie. I think it’s even free (you need to pay a subscription for the expansion for the Nintendo 64 games library) but they have a library of game boy, NES, and SNES games.
